now if only they'd release the damn phone lol

You have to agree its better than Verizon DROID commercials that show you absolutely nothing about the phone right?
I thought that was a pretty terrible advert to be honest.
It seems like it was targeted toward young people.

IMHO the Verizon Droid commercials and the Droid brand identity in general are some of the absolute worst marketing decisions ever made. It's like they don't even want women and older people to buy the devices.

Agreed. I have a few of my iPhone friends ask me sometimes "I want to buy a Droid but when I look at these commercials I have no idea what the hell it does...Am I supposed to go into space with it or something?"
That whole "mysterious space age" stuff isn't exactly attractive to the mainstream market. Maybe only techies and sci-fi lovers.
On topic: I thought the commercial was a little limiting (doesn't show everything about the device), but yes, something like THAT does attract the mainstream market a little more.

That's why I like these new Nexus commercials. They actually show people using the phone for real world stuff.
That advert is ****.
It would be nice if they did an advert in the UK, I've never seen an advert for a Nexus handset.
Out of all the Galaxy Nexus commercials I have seen thus far I think this one is probably the best and appealing to most people:
I own an android phone. I've always owned android stuff I don't like iOS but I don't sit there going crapple this crapple that. Iphones have their place my step dad asked me what phone to get I said iPhone because its just easier same with my mom. They are still good phones. Yea apple is run by douchebags but that's not the point in this post. Why is it if I love Android I have to hate iOS? I mean I love my Xbox I don't hate PlayStation. Don't hate so much. /rant

OK... I've seen douchery from Android users too... so don't be throwing stones in glass houses. It happens in every sector where there's two or more predominant or prevailing standards. People are people, and don't always consider that the opposite camp is full of people too.
As for what Apple's business practices, they've become more like corporate America and it's only this visible because it's become a clash of titans in the market. Patent lawsuits happen ALL THE TIME. It shows up more for us because we're swimming in the same waters as the players in the lawsuits.
All that being said, I have both. I love both for very different reasons and the pro's/con's comparison chart has polar opposites on most individual items with some overlap. But I'm not a fan boy of either since I put my douchery baton in the trash many years ago... we all should.

Its how they do buisness, the iPhone is good, youd be stupid to say its a heap of trash but its just their buissness style. Take this USA gnex ban they just pulled off on court, just cos they can't produce anything better they throw their toys out the pram instead and the fact the courts don't just say they are being childish annoys me.
People buy apple cos their friends got one, the good advertising and are not clever enough to find a better product for their money.

No problem with Apple products. As far as they go, fine. They do it well. I have an issue with Apple as a company, their patent system which almost seems to be based on bribes and greed, the almost stomach churning fanbase and the awful closed system where 99% of content is forced through iTunes.

this is also true, but im more talking about a feeling of being elite just because of a product. it is more apparent with apple users from my observation.
apple is also lawsuit happy right now, which i also detest
A lot of it comes from apple users thinking they're doing stuff symbian, palm and blackberry owners have been doing for awhile. And then apple itself makes it worse with some of the patents like they really did invent smart phones.

i never said the iphone was a piece of trash. i dont mind it, but its not for me personally.
I like the build quality (not the design, glass on the back of the phone? really?) and how polished the OS is. However I had to use ios5 as a replacent as my GNEX was out for repairs and that was easily the worst month of my life as far as communications was concerned. Apple phones are not for myself, I would not trade my macbook air for anything else in the world tho.
oh boy a thread for Apple's white knights to post in....

I xx'th that; in addition, iProducts simply does not fit my requirements: local ogg vorbis support (nearly 10000 of home made audio files are in vorbis), removable battery (I have to switch battery at least twice a day), no direct download from app, cloud, and FTP, no AWS HSPA (don't ask me to switch elsewhere for iProducts, and..."back button" is not always available (app switch button on 3.x and 4.x is pretty handy).

I had an iPhone 4. To be honest I liked it a lot. But for an advanced user its so basic and restrictive its suffocating.
I agree. IPhone is a pick up and go device. A lot of people, even most Android users use the phones as they are. And to be honest the iPhone is more user friendly then Android. Which is good for people that aren't electronically inclined or older folk that want to stay up to date with modern technology without complexity. Same for people that buy dells or HPs. They want to pick it up and use it as it is. They don't care about updating software, drivers, firmware, hardware.
On the topic of patent battles. This is a chance for Samsung and Google to show the open source community and the general public what innovation is all about.

I used to own 2 iPods, 2 iPod Touch and still have the original iPhone somewhere in my house.
They really did make awesome products back then but then they just stopped trying and shift their attention to stop everyone else from trying to innovate.
We all know the core idea of innovation is to take an existing idea/concept and make it better.
I read somewhere on here last year or this year to date (forget which) they spent more on lawyers than on research and design and then claim to be an innovative company. Bollocks to that

Hey guys
I was just surfing an came across this article from Phonesreview.co.uk. In it, the writer is constantly blasting the S3 as not being that great and how the Iphone 5 will blast this disappointing phone away. I had to read the article twice as I thought maybe my eyes were having a seizure or something lol. Talk about bias...please read the link below....I know that Steve Jobs has passed but wow I would of thought that this article was written by him.

I am seeing too much of this these days. I saw an article just a day or two ago for the Nexus 7 and they keep comparing it to the iPad and even say something along the lines of how he didn't even want to take it.....what?
This guy looks like an idiot after the debacle that the WWDC turned out to be. I remember ifanboys were enraged on twitter when the new iOS wasn't even as good looking as ICS, much less Jelly Bean.
This was written before the s3 was released and we still don't have specs for "the new iphone". How do you write a comparison review before a phone's specs are even released??
I'd say samsung selling 10 million or so galaxy s3s in July speaks for itself though.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Your right. This made me laugh just a little bit! Plus if the iPhone doesn't have better specs when its released months later....Then Apple just isnt doing it right. As far as blowing it out of the water...I don't think so. Be better hardware then the S3? I would hope so. Plus at the end of the day I like my S3. So I will keep this over any Apple product. As I own none for my own personal reason and I don't plan too anytime soon.
Articles like this only prove that the sgs3 is a threat for the smartphone crown. Haters are noticing. Just check the sales.

Much of the media (even more so on the net) seem mostly concerned with gathering viewers, curious, supportive, or even angry. In this case they're probably successfully baiting more page views from angry Android fans than Apple fans. Congrats you're giving people like that just what they want.
This is not "the most bias article you could read", but the most biased article we should not read and should not give free publicity to. There are plenty of idiots disguised as tech reporters. The best thing we can do is to ignore them.

But then again it should be more than enough for google to ban sales of anything using it with the way things are unfortunately happening lately.

Apple is pathetic, they can't compete with the software that Android has become so they are trying to limit consumer choice to the almighty (POS) iPhone.

If you refer to advertising and the great marketing, I agree with you, but Apple became kind of the new Nokia. If someone without a clue of technology asks me what phone they should buy, i hesitate to say Android, because it needs more effort and intelligence to set the phone up... But Nokia failed with their bad developement, so will Apple. Project Glass will whipe out smartphones & Apple

I would have been inclined to agree with you 4 years ago...now, not so much. Android is painfully easy now. In fact, a lot of things are even easier than iOS until Apple steals more "innovations" from Android and Windows Phone for iOS 6.

- Apple - Innovation through litigation
- Apple iPhones - smartphones for dumb people
- An Apple product is like being at a great buffet but not being allowed to eat much
Some of the stuff I think to myself when I look at my buddy's 4S
Apple makes great products, they innovate and when they don't they compensate with their design, packaging, marketing and branding which is world class, appealing even sexy. Then they start dictating what you can and cannot do with their stuff, after you've paid a premium price for it, and that's where they lose me.
sammy shoulda have shown this video on court
Very nice, gotta love pointing out the obviously copied ideas. Just watch them try to patent the ideas now.
Thanks for sharing this.

I'd have to disagree on this, My mom had no issues picking up a MyTouch 3g and using it. Only thing she had to get use to was using a touch screen and it took her all of 2 weeks to get use to using a touch screen. She easily setup a password, sync'd her contacts, added music, etc. and that was on android 1.6

Uuuuh, 2 huge things I can think of off the top of my head.
1. Only allowed to download Apple approved apps from the app store, no side loading.
2. Entire file system is not accessible by the user.
Just these two put up some huge barriers for people who want to do whatever they want with the hardware, and furthers the idea that they only let you do what they want you to do.
