Hi guys,
first time poster but long time follower.
Last night i attempted to load the stock 3 UK rom onto my desire so that i could recieve the ota update today of froyo but now my screen is completly blank. It shows nothing at boot up and nothing when on the home screen. I know it's on because i can see the keypad light up when i press the power button. I can't boot it into recovery mode because i can't see the screen. Also i don't have a gold card neither so im pretty stuck. I believe it has something to do with different version of screens but i didn't see anything labelled on the rom to say which is for what screen. My desire has the AMOLED screen. Please can someone help i've tried allsorts but i need to get it fixed or i may try to return it at three but im guessing they'll know i've rooted it. Thanks in advance.

hold the volume key down and power button and hold till phone powers up. if your phone is rooted and has a custom recovery u can boot into that and flash rom.
I bet you have a slcd screen. Look for slcd brick fixed.

I can't because i can't see if it's gone into the recovery menu or not.
I had this problem too, you can fix it tho.
Start the phone as usual, install HTC Sync first, then connect it to your phone via USB.
Download the HTC Bravo stock rom from shipped-roms, and then just run the .exe file, it will reflash the stock android OS and your screen will be fixed.

I am having the same problem guys. i tried to unroot and reflash with a stock virgin mobile ruu... would i use the bravo rom too?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821656
as long as you can get to recovery (even if you can't see it), you should be able to fix it.
i fixed my phone fine when I tried to install a wrong amoled ruu and bricked my screen.
my solution in the thread above
Repaired
You try reflash your HTC Desire this ROM RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe. Me helped it.
I'm trying to restore my desire (telus) to factory defaults using the RUU. Whenever I try to use the RUU then I get an error during the step "Waiting for bootloader." I've installed HBOOT drivers and the regular HTC sync drivers, why would it not be able to see the bootloader? Any help would be appreciated, my warranty ends in 3 days and I really need this fixed soon.

I start the RUU with my phone turned on normally, it then reboots into some HTC bootloader that I've never seen which is where I get the error.

To get into fastboot, you MUST NOT boot your phone normally. You have to press and hold back button first and then press and hold power button until a white screen with three androids at the bottom appears. On this screen you should read FASTBOOT in red highlighted letters.

I know what fastboot is but I figured that it was irrelevant to my issue. Just booted into it and the RUU is working just fine. Thanks a ton for your help, I would've never thought that I'd need to be in fastboot to get it to work.
If i flash using revolutionary . io will i be on stock hboot or a custom. And if im on stock can i just flash leedroid's room after i root it ?
Ya. You will be on stock HBOOT only. And yes you can flash the Leedroid a2sd version for stock hboot. Enjoy

Thanks dude
once done with IO, you can also flash any other HBOOT, Radio etc.
I went from STOCK to CM7r2 fine.

Above where it says FASTBOOT and such, there should be some other identifying information. It will say S-ON or S-OFF. However, if you used AAHK, you should be S-OFF. What happens if you say no to the update and choose RECOVERY? (Use volume keys to move up and down.) Does ClockworkMod start?

After you refuse the update, try to navigate to RECOVERY. If that works, you can then flash your ROM from inside CWM Recovery. It could just be a bad flash. If that still doesn't work, the download is probably bad. Just redownload it and reflash.

If i refuse update, the only option that i can press is press power off for reboot. Thats it, there is no way to press recovery, unless i can go back to the first screen? but there is nothing visual that lets me do that.
I think im going to cry haha

My bad, I forgot that happens. Hey, don't worry. If I can't get it working, there's hopefully someone here who can.
Try moving that zip off the sdcard root. You should be able to do that with adb, which you should have with AAHK. ADB instructions are at the thread in my signature. Or, if you have an sdcard reader, use the to get the zip moved off the sdcard root. Place it in a folder in the sdcard.

I'm being startlingly stupid. Try removing the sdcard altogether and boot into HBOOT. After it boots, replace the sdcard and boot into recovery. Does that work? From there, you should be able to move the zip.

Hi, when i remove the sdcard I can now move the vol buttons up and down and i put the sc card back in before pressing recovery, same thing happens goes to htc startup then browns out then black screen, tried again without putting it in and same thing.... so do you think i just need to remove update.zip?

I think moving update.zip will at least help you figure out whether you have a working recovery. I'm not sure if you're getting into recovery; if you aren't, try booting into recovery before inserting the sdcard, then mounting it in recovery if it doesn't do so automatically.

Just so I'm clear. You're rebooting while holding power+volumedown without sdcard, getting into HBOOT, and selecting RECOVERY. It then goes to the HTC splash screen and fades to black. Is that accurate? You're never getting into recovery?

Hey guys im a newbie to all of this and i decided to flash my first phone with cm10. I followed all the steps i was supposed to (i think, i had looked at alot of posts). First of all i ended up in a loop of the cm10 screen, i saw it might be due to a low battery so i turned off until full and then proceeded to wipe it and try again. Now i am in a endless loop of the htc screen. the white one when the phone first turns on. i have tried to power off from the button and also through fastboot>power down. Both turn the phone off only for it to restart again and get stuck on the page. I am in a endless loop, if somebody would be kind enough to help me i would be in their debt! Thanks guys.

That did work when i had the cyanogen mod page, but now that it gets stuck on the htc splash page it just constantly turns on if i turn off, whether it be on the fastboot page or using the power off button on the phone.
any ideas with the constant loop? also i saw somewhere that i may need to get a different hboot for it to work with the new dailies?
Your hboot is compatible with cm10.1. When you flash cm10 you need the boot.img linked above.
