Good news for T-Mobile and AT&T
Actually READ the article, it clearly states the phone is running on a T-Mobile SIM Card. Hardly misleading. Hell most of you were confirming Verizon based on a damn logo in a picture.

by the way the article doesnt show anything we did not already know
It says " which happens to be compatible with T-Mobile and AT&T networks. " doesn't necessarily mean that they are selling it.

Your post title is HORRIBLY misleading.
There is NOTHING in the article that confirms AT&T or T-Mobile variants of the Galaxy Nexus.

Actually it said
"But my test version, provided by Google just a day ago, relied on a T-Mobile SIM card tapping into an HSPA + network."
Which sounds more like it would be sold by tmobile at least.
I could be wrong though.
It's been posted elsewhere that the GSM version works on those networks. I read the article as simply meaning that the test model the reviewer was given was gsm, not lte.

Though I'd love for that to be the case, I really don't see how that is any indicator that T-Mo will be picking it up and selling it themselves. All that the above quote tells us is that the HSPA+ model is compatible with T-Mo's airwaves.
This thread is incredibly badly titled, given the huge assumption made by the OP :\
Thanks for the enormous cocktease.
I went to my Tmobile store and asked when they might get the Galaxy Nexus. The manager told me that Tmobile was not going to get this phone in their stores but it would be sold at Best Buy at some point. I went to Best Buy and asked them and of course they knew nothing about it. Why do they want to make it so hard for me to buy the darn phone? Makes no sense.
Close this misleading redundant thread !
This is very selfish of me but I hope it doesn't come to T-mobile. I want to buy this unlocked from overseas and use it with T-mobile and my legacy data plan. If T-mobile starts carrying it, they might end up filtering the device and force me to buy their more expensive, Android-compatible data plan.

Engadget was able to use both Tmo and AT&T SIMs successfully. Just thought I'd share. It shouldn't surprise anyone though considering the radios support both on paper. At this point, it would be nice to see when ANY carrier in the US will be selling this phone.

so i work at a tmobile store in Southern Orange County.. and i had a tmobile engineer come up to me today asking for the new sim cards our GS2 ... he then showed me a "manufacture testing" tmobile galaxy S2 and wouldnt you believe it .. it had the wifi calling setting under wireless & networks i almost wet my panties !! lol but he was telling me that its very close to coming to our samsungs ... prob by the beginning of next week . He also mentioned that the reason for the push back was because the overall quality of the wifi calls were horrible and consistently dropped out.. he also informed me that one of the head internal engineers stopped working for them and went over to HTC , so we can put all the blame on "her". haha anyways just my 2 cents
of course i immediatly tried thinking of ways to back up his Rom somehow lmao without having root on it .... but he was a lil prissy pants and had to leave .
Good news. Thanks! I hope it is actually next week and not delayed again. My service at home sucks!

FYI, modded ROM's for the Amaze already have it working. I was using it before I sold my Amaze for the G2.
If there was a Samsung phone that's had working wifi calling it would be easy to get it going on this phone. The amaze guys probably got it from the sensation and made it work

All first gen Galaxy S phones had it. Well i didn't have the ATT or Verizon variants but the Euro GS and Vibrant (TMo) both had it and worked really well. The Nexus S however has never had it even though many people have worked on it. Sounds like it's coming for the GS2 and that's good news because mine gets here wednesday or Friday.

I think they're speaking of adding the "free wifi calling" to your account.
I'm just sayin!
When you go to your my.t-mobile account and go to add services, there's a section called"extra minutes" and under that free wifi calling. Sounds like not everyone is seeing it though for some reason.
Thanks for sharing yep I don't have that service to add either.
The question is though, does adding this feature online actually enable some kind of wifi calling when using wifi? And how do toggle it on our phones?

Though this may come as no surprise to some we have just received word from a very very good source that an unconfirmed number of AT&T SIM Cards (RS# 17-0700 and likely 4G LTE) for the Galaxy Nexus are going out for testing as we speak. Curiously the SIMS are standard and not the micro like Verizon Wireless. This means of course we can finally certify the release of Samsung and Google’s latest collaboration will be hitting AT&T in the very near term. I have to protect my source but this is coming from very close to the situation. We will keep you posted as more details come about. Are you on AT&T and have been waiting for the the official release of the G-Nex you can count on it soon enough. We broke this right here and we expect to be credited this time. Thanks.
Update: Our tipster just added that the SKU for these SIM cards is 73057 and that they do seem to be 4G LTE enabled!!!!

Bet you $50 it's only HSPA+. Note, that the email only said it was "likely" LTE. They're speculating. Then note that they're using MiniSIM not micro. The whole reason why they use MicroSIM in Toro is because they couldn't fit the LTE antennas and logic chips and the full sized SIM in the already larger housing.

Yeah kinda strange.
When I switched to the LTE-enabled data plan with an LTE phone IMEI number, they had to give me a new LTE SIM for my GSM GN. So maybe the article meant LTE SIM going to the field with GN test units?

I think you are right.
After receiving my new GN last Friday, I went to the local AT&T store to get a data plan. Contrary to AT&T ads there is no 4G in South Florida. My phone gets what is available: H+. I just had to move the Sim card from my Nexus One to the GN.
Since my Galaxy Nexus is not an AT&T I have no obligation to buy a data plan. I might drop mine after reading the speedtest
To Clarify
Since our entire post has been repasted here i felt the need to clarify. The SIMS are not at all phone specific and not sure how that was insinuated in the post. There is more information I may be cleared to release as to why it was necessary for these SIMS to go out and an enterprising mind that thinks on it for a while can probably figure it out. The problem is I cannot yet tell folks where the SIMS were coming from and where they were going. I also know how many SIMS there were. If I get cleared to release that info I promise to update the information. Lets for the sake of argument put the SIM card aspect aside. The important part is the document in question confirms the existence of the handset in question. Number one rule of journalism is protect your source. If i gave out that information that would put him/her at considerable risk. I promise there will be more info soon.

It would be shocking if AT&T wasn't buying USIM's without a LTE logo. Yes, logo. There is no physical difference between a UMTS 3G USIM and one used in LTE devices.
SOURCE: Gemalto, who makes most of the SIM's for AT&T
Damn and I just paid $498 for a GSM to use on AT&T. However LTE in my area is delayed so LTE model would be useless to me. Plus AT&T branding and bloat ware Yuck!
I have two upgrades in May due. If anything Id rather get a One X for $199 hopefully to try out and still keep my Nexus. Never tried Sense so who knows. I really just like the look and screen quality of the One X. I could always sell it for $500 if it doesn't work out.

we have photographs of these sims with no LTE logo thanks to our friends at radio shack so im sorry that is not entirely true. Also we know these SIMS have been being used since the 4th quarter of last year so we are aware that there is no difference. For some of you there won't be truth to it until the phone is announced but it's funny those are the people who scrutinize speculation the most. We have clarified the original story on our site for those people and for now we will wait and see. I'm only here commenting because my story is here. I don't care to convince anyone specific of it's validity, as for our readers, us reporting it makes it valid enough.

I have just had a chat to Trish at Tmobile UK and she offered a great deal on a new Samsung but when I asked if it would be LTE enabled out of the box or a software upgrade she said it wouldn't be enabled and couldn't give any date if it could be. So I will give it a few weeks and then ask again.

Nice thing to say in the Q&A section
If your phone is a international quad core then it will never have LTE because it does not have the hardware to support it.
The US dual core Snapdragon 4 phones have the hardware in them and should already support it.

Not this topic again did OP even ask a q? Or just tell us what happened with the rep?
The reason I contacted Tmobile UK is that we are about to get 4G and they are pushing it in adverts. Tmobile and Orange are to be named EE, this is the Email :-
Superfast is on its way
Hello John
Everything Everywhere, the company behind T-Mobile and Orange is about to launch a new brand called EE.
EE is the new brand for a digital age and will offer the UK's first mobile 4G network and Fibre Broadband for the home, along with the UK's biggest 3G network. 4G will give you superfast internet on the move, making things like downloads, Facebook® and YouTube™ unbelievably quick.
It's all good news for you
As a T-Mobile customer you'll now use EE's new 3G network, the biggest in the UK. Soon you'll start to see EE on your phone screen.
We will be replacing your local T-Mobile and Orange stores with exciting new EE stores, giving you access to almost twice as many stores as today. These EE stores will be staffed by teams of brilliantly helpful people – including specialists in smartphones and systems like Apple, BlackBerry®, Android and Microsoft.
As part of these changes, if you pay by Direct Debit, you'll notice that the name on your bank statement will change to "EE and T-Mobile" within the next two months.
Still the T-Mobile you know and love
You will continue to be a T-Mobile customer. Everything you love about T-Mobile will stay exactly the same. You'll still enjoy the same great value, and your number and plan details won't change either. If you have any further questions you'll find the answers here
Be one of the first to know
Be one of the first to find out about all the great things EE has to offer, including how to move from T-Mobile to EE to start enjoying 4G as soon as it's ready. Sign up now
It's going to be great
T-Mobile
I didn't want to lumber myself with a phone on a two year contract, so it's not a dumb question for us over here. Thanks for the other replies.
It says new 3G network? I'm really confused.. I think your best bet is to change the thread title and put UK so people know what you're talking about. The difference between the US and UK is pretty huge. You're not going to get much help because the LTE in the US on tmo topic has been beaten to death.
Come on people CLEAR thread titles! Please!!
I still stand behind my post. People should research what is LTE and how it works.

I don't know if live links are allowed. Just take out the spaces.
You will see they have several phones which are LTE enabled. So they are saying it's going to work but the reply from Trish not yet. So I was hoping that someone here and some have given me the info. Your reply was US based and what I wanted was a UK answer.
I already answered it. The i9300 does NOT have LTE. The i9305 does. These are UK phones.

I believe part of the problem is that Sprint is not giving out the unlock codes. Only if you are a current customer, with the phone active. I've seen a few people post of this very issue.
I thought there are websites that unlock these features though. It appears its a hard task to accomplish. Best of luck to those trying to get this resolved though.

Sprint will unlock the device for GSM capabilities for carriers OUTSIDE the US. But will not allow the LS-980 to be used on T-Mobile, or AT&T.

I'm OUTSIDE the US, how can I unlock if I have LS980 with Bad ESN and I'm NOT their client of course???
Try this:
on your dialer type *#*#4636#*#* now your in the TEST MENU go to first option from the top (information about telephone)
slide all the way down and set preferred network type to GSM (auto) or LTE/GSM/WCDMA (wait for around 30-60 sec)
I dont know will this work for you or not but its worth to try. And this will be gone after restarting your phone.

I know all about ebay.. The majority of the bad ESN phones are either stolen, or they are attached to accounts of people that never paid their bills. Trust me, there is a LOT of stolen merchandise sold on eBay.

Maybe. I always buy phones with bad ESNs - they're cheaper and does NOT have any difference when using them overseas

Hello! My phones came and when I put into it my sim card - it says - No sim card! Every of three phones! Who can make them run SIM card??
Title says it all. I'm running a 851 T-mobile variant with TWRP and AOKP (new rom posted today) on it. Same bands and LTE works perfect. So the question stands why don't you AT&T owners sell yours and do the same? More development is going on since the bootloader is already unlocked and the more using one version the better for development as well in my eyes.
Maybe there is a specific reason but what am I missing?
I'm on Sprint and paid 99 for my phone. That's the only reason.

Makes sense not switching carriers, and sprint is CDMA not GSM so wouldn't work regardless. Threads more toward the AT&T owners and all the Bootloader Bounty chatter....
Got ya. Us Sprint guys are in the same boat. If they succeed in an unlock I'm definitely gonna donate if they don't charge anything for it.
Well AT&T is the better network hands down so there's that and if someone didn't think about bootloaders and development before purchasing chances are they don't need or want to root so there's 2 really good reasons why not to sell an AT&T G3 for the same exact phone on another network. That and also that its the same exact phone on another network.
I did it, mine 855P is the same as international 855 but with LTE from Mexico and USA so I sold it and bought a T-Mobile just for the same price =D and I still have my wireless charger that came with my 855P + an upgrade from 16gb/2gb RAM to 32gb/3gb RAM, a good deal.

Well that exactly what i did had the 850 and sold it on ebay and got the 851. 851's are cheaper actually. Still on AT&T network, agree its the better network hands down. If I chose to sell this it can go either ATT or T-mobile and works on LTE for both.
I guess i don't see your argument at all..
That's really not a terrible idea, lol. I friggen hate having this locked bootloader on my 850. Does the TMobile variant have the EXACT same bands as the AT&T one?
My other option is to just sell this stupid thing and buy a Nexus X when it comes out.

Exactly, and thanks for making remember it has the Qi wireless which is much more popular.

Do it, I made money actually. And you can literally download the IMEI unlock app on Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.servtified.unlock_lg_g3&hl=en) and pay 5 dollars to have it working on AT&T LTE in the matter of minutes. You do need to add your APN info for ATT but that''s it, works awesome!
Yes it has the exact same bands identical.

Not an argument, actually a reason to be satisfied with their purchase is that its on AT&T. I'm on T-Mobile but I don't defend their service, just went through them to lease the G3 and not pay outright for it. Going back to Straight Talk soon since I already SIM unlocked it. I would hope that a normal non obsessed person would consider all their options for US variants and not go through the headache of switching carriers for the exact same phone and sell the other. Not everyone cares about unlocking phones, some people are satisfied with simply having them, I'm not one of those people, but they do exist.

Hear you loud and clear, but we are on XDA right? Having said that anyone on this forum is interested in having full control of their phone period.

Why would you assume that? I've seen plenty of posts by users running stock unrooted devices. Just because its not unlocked doesn't mean people don't have a passion for development.

Getting off topic, the point of the thread was for those who are on AT&T and want a unlocked bootloader. I dont think some people are aware of the logical move, and that both versions have the same bands.
Care to share a link for this AOKP rom you speak of?
