Hi everyone
In your opinion, what ROM under development now do you think is the one to wait for?
The one that you can't wait to reach a stable version, or that will give the desire some more days to live?

Oxygen is the one for me ;-)
That would be an ICS Rom with Sense
Oxygen 3, because if it fails, I'm soooo looking forward to going back to FroYo it is barely possible.
CM9 is the one i'm looking forward to - hopefully it will run without performance issues on the Desire!

Totally agree. Waiting impatiently for CM9. Hope it will be made for Desire. Now using MIUI. Satisfied with it.
ICS on Desire will require A LOT of magic.
Got to be ics rom if it can't be done shall be upgrading my Desire.

I'd love ICS on my Desire but I think HTC Sense will just mask many of the major UI improvements in Android and our phones are probably to slow to run the new sense that will be present on a 4.0 ROM
Ice Cream Sandwich should run better than 2.x, on the Desire Z, since it uses hardware acceleration for the UI across the board, right?
I can't wait to see an ICS ROM for the G2

I disagree. Lots of tech stuff from Sense is now directly in the system, which means Sense will be lighter, witch means it will be smaller, which means... You get the picture.
Waiting for cm9. Though I'll be buying the new nexus as soon as it comes to Norway. Its gonna be sad to put my desire away. We'be been through so much together..

Personally I'm waiting for CM9. Though my desire already looks a lot like ICS.
The ROM i'm waiting for is Oxygen V3.
after that CM9.
hope ICS on Desire is possible anyway.
What I'm waiting for is Oxygen 3, then I will see of CM9 is good or not. Finally, I will hope to see a stable ICS Rom with Sense. (although that would take quite a while )

I just discovered Rooting and putting stuff on my Incredible , and I have noticed before that I've seen new Gingerbread software come out and Ice Cream and I'm still stuck on Android 2.2 .. any suggestions ? And how would I got about doing it ?
well, there are currently no leaks at all for Ice Cream so that is out of the question. For Gingerbread i would recommend CM7 at http://www.cyanogenmod.com/ it has gingerbread and is VERY fast and stable but, does not have sense. There are many threads here about flashing roms so i don't really feel like i need to go into that but look around and i guarantee you can find one.

Well first decide if you like sense, which is basically the HTC interface of your stock ROM, or AOSP, which is the android interface the way google designed it. Then you can pick a corresponding rom. For example, SkyRaider Sense 4.0 is sense rom, and CM7 is AOSP.
SkyRaider Sense
CM7 Nightlies AOSP
As far as getting it done there are plenty of guides that can be found by searching for rooting and flashing roms. Also, most rom threads in these forums have instructions in the first post.
CyanogenMod 7 FTW!
If you decide on aosp salvage mod and evervolv are both excellent roms
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
i like skyraider and uber roms from joel.....both are nice and have sense wich is what i like. not into the asop roms since no sense
I recommend the new GB leak or gingersense remix... I'm a big sense ui fan though. AOSP definately CM7
If you want sense go for Uber Z. VERY STABLE ROM. If not, then go for CM7.
I use either Warm Z two point two or Skyraider 4.0 since both are very stable, fast, and solid battery life. I stick to warm z 90% of the time though. I like landscape. lol

^ reminds me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Acrcm09NDdE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
CM7 Nightlies
Stable vs. Beta
There are a lot of Beta Roms running Gingerbread and various versions of HTC Sense.
CyanogenMod 7 is by far the most stable Gingerbread ROM I've see out there (although it's Vanilla so you won't see any HTC Sense going on).
The nice thing about ROMs is you can flash, flash, and flash some more.
I'll second Uber Z for Sense and CyanogenMod 7 for AOSP.
But, as Sharpe said, you can flash and flash to your heart's content. With these Sense 3.0 leaks, I've been flashing like a maniac and having a blast. And if a ROM doesn't work for me, I can just restore to my Nandroid backup and I'm back to where I started (CM7, in this case). ^.^
I'm rocking Carbonite v5. Awesome visuals, great battery life, and very fast.

REALLY exciting news!!! Hope the CM team picks up ICS in their nightlies quickly!
Cant wait to try the new interface/functions, some features should be similar to Sense roms.
Awesome!...now both the devs and the CM team can work on outing above perfect ROMs for our 'still very much alive; HD2!!!...its only a matter of time i guess. It depends, GB and ICS are quite a bit different than froyo was to GB. If I remember correctly it took a couple of weeks to a month after GB came out when we had a stable enough build to be considered daily.
Proper drivers are gonna determine how fast we get ICS developed on the HD2.
I can't decide which I'm more excited about: ICS itself, or the included Honeycomb source!
Either way, there is no other phone I would want to have right now!

I'm using ICS from DK_Zero-Cool (v3.3u1). Most stable one i've experienced until now
MIUI XJ since New year, probably will try with some Sense ROM soon
I'm still using CM7.2 RC1. Very stable and fast.
Could anyone explain to me why everybody is so hyped about ICS? I mean I appreciate what the devs of ICS ROMs do and it's great that they make ICS possible on our old Desires.
I tried Sandvold's ROM and BCM. They're quite good and making good progess, but I always came back to CM7.
I actually don't see a point in switching to ICS (yet) unless you like flashing and testing new ROMs, because CyanogenMod 7 and other 2.3 ROMs seem more stable and faster and they have all the features ICS offers.
Is it the looks of ICS or just that it's new and you want to test it?
I'll probably switch over eventually, but at the moment I'm just curious what you like about ICS.
I'm going to get an Evo 4g soon from a friend who doesn't need it, and I've been searching for a custom ICS Sense 3.6 or Sense 4.0 like on the new HTC ics phones.
I haven't found anything however, so if someone could find or create a sense 3.6/4.0 rom for the Evo 4g, I would appreciate it.
there is no ics sense 3.6/4.0 roms as of yet for the evo 4g
we are still missing a kernel. we have to wait for some source to be released so our devs can make a booting kernel, or at least try to port one....
btw our best bet would be to try to port the One V sense 4.0A since the one v matches our specs in hardware terms like proccessor speed and ram. so that should run pretty smooth on our evo 4g

If and when an ics sense Rom (3.0,3.5,6,4.0) it would be nice. But do not expect it to run well. Would be an act of god if it was somewhat smooth being that energy and warm 2.3, both sense 3.5 gb roms are borderline laggy IMO. While the devs for those two roms are AMAZING, theres just only so much this phone can do with its limited hardware which is one of the reasons it will not be receiving an ics ota. When some sort of source kernel drops someday god knows when, devs will make it work. Wish I still had my EVO to test out when it happens. I miss it

HI Guyz,
I am not a dev. So please pardon me if i am wrong. When i visited a mobile shop to get a new mobile for my cousin,
1. I saw HTC Explorer , which in configuration is wayyyyyyy below desire. But i was awestruck with the smoothness of it. The appdrawer, swiping between homescreens, widgets etc. but i cannot have the same smoothness even with the official sense 1.9 ? Why is that ?
2. I saw HTC Desire C which is based on 600 MHz Cortex-A5. WTF. ? It has ICS. I can sense that ICS will be very laggy in the handset but my question is how this weak chipset has fully functional ICS and Sense 4.0 ? I still feel HTC Desire is very powerful and capable enough to run ICS. !!
Thanks,

You could try to download desire c rom, change all "desire c" string to "desire" and see if it works...
lol, it's not so simple to port a rom, it's a different architecture of chip, different screen resolution, different drivers... etc etc...
Like if you run a game on a quadcore with full resolution and the same on a pentium4 with 640x480.. do you understand a little?
I think that the progress in ICS and JB is fantastitc, so appreciate the dev's work and don't pretend too much.

Thanks for your reply and please dont be obnoxious when you reply to someone. Its not that I doubt the devs. What i am trying to say is when a 600 mhz powered device can run ICS, why not ours (out of the box. just with minor tweaks) like transition from Froyo to GB. ?? I was totally upset to see ICS in Desire C rather than mine. I hope we will have fully functional ics/jb not without our excellent devs. !!

Ok, the fact is also that desire c has htc's drivers, our desire hwa was written from scratch by evervolv team, so it isn't an official released properly functioning.
It's correlated with the problem that cyanogenmod don't support it for cm9.
There are a few different ICS roms that work really well and smoothly for the Desire. BCM is based on CM9 but nikez rom and sandvolds rom are not. The only problem I have encountered is video playback issues which can be solved my using mx or rockplayer. Otherwise imo the desire ICS roms are quicker than GB. The devs have done a great job porting these to desire.

Wait... I believe that who tried mildwild 4.3 can say that is quicker, faster (maybe not smoother) rom for desire. With the option of choosing where to put apk and data of each app (if in internal or ext) I can open frequently used app in a second, camera Miui app is perfect and it has no bugs. The only benefits that I saw in ICS was running heavy games with good frame rate (the same game is laggy in GB) and using 4.0+ apps. But so far I found ics and jb rom slower (repeat I mean opening apps and overall quickness). Btw the job by evervolv team and nikez is fantastic and I guess that JB development will go furrher and better than ics

Since Shaky stop developing his Sense 4.0 ROM, this side of the HTC desire development has stopped. The ROM, though in alpha, was working brilliantly well. Everything was smooth, and there were many thing working. Why did shaky stop? That build has so much potential. I really hope that he is still developing his rom in secret, so that he makes a "surprise stable full version" release.

I didn't even notice that Shaky deleted his XDA account. I'm a bit worried about him. What happened?
So, if shaky stopped developing, does that mean that the Desire will never get a full version of the 4.0 Sense, even if it can run it very smoothly?
Begging the devs won't help...
I want this port so much that I'm willing to take Linux classes and to port it myself.
Sooo, is any developer kind and willing enough to continue shaky's work? I know this sounds like begging, but many Desire users really want the 4.0 Sense.
To prevent noobish spamming, like shaky had, devs could just release a full version when it's done.
