Go ROM - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I think it'd be interesting for someone to come up with a ROM possibly cyanogen or liquid based, and replace everything possible with go apps. ie: go launcher, go locker, go weather, go sms, etc.. it would add an interesting theming aspect that I think many would enjoy. Would this be possible??

well we did this back on froyo for the fascinate touchwiz http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085298
and used many go apps cuz they were miui-y (if that makes sense)
had some issues needing to keep stock contacts.apk in the rom, otherwise you couldnt sync google contacts
on aosp i dont *think* it would be an issue, but on sense i think it would

This looks awesome. How'd you combine TW with MIUI?? Looks pretty crisp with the way it runs. I'd make it myself, but I don't have a computer.... I think it'd be a kool start to a dev'ing career.

andmer was the brains behind the rom really...he had to HEAVILY modify the touchwiz framework to accept miui launcher and miui preferences
hes crazy smart and at the time it looked like no aosp miui would really be functional on the fascinate...eventually once jt1134 got cm7 going, andmer took on porting aosp miui to the fasc and up until recently maintained it
even seeing exactly what he was doing at the time made my head spin, lol...i doubt i could replicate it on my own

That makes me think, I wonder if (since I've heard TW is a pita) you could do the same thing with MIUI and sense. So you could still have a lot of the sense aspects but also have the functionality of MIUI similar to your senseless ROM.

really andmer would need a sense device or sbrissen would have to care enough to actually try it

This seems like it would be too much of a hassle when you could just as easily install all of the apps the GO Team has to offer and make it look like you have a full GO ROM.
You could always flash MIUI. IMO it's pretty close to the GO with the right theme settings.

It still wouldn't be the same. I'm talking have something fully themeable like MIUI or cyanogenmod but everything is go instead of whatever is stock in the ROM. I guess, yeah you could do it by downloading it all, but it'd be kooler to see more integration.
Oh, btw nitsuj, I messaged andmer about the MIUI/Sense hybrid. I told him I'd be willing to test if he felt like even fooling with it.

Where is the vanilla 2.2 Froyo ROM?

It seems like all of the available ROMs have either Sense, or ADW launcher. Why no pure vanilla Froyo 2.2, with the stock launcher?...or am I just missing it? I'm talking Nexus One pure, with no additions or changes whatsoever, besides root.

Stock and Vanilla in this case don't mean the same thing -- stock roms are Sense based, and Vanilla refers to android without any sense -- as you would have on the nexus one, or compiling from Android Open Source Project code.

I'm working on porting the stock FRF91 from the N1 as we speak. I have never done this before and am therefore using only the basic kitchen. If it works and I can verify little or no bugs I will post it in android development. I can't make any promises though.

hey tc, i tried to port frf92 as well, but my question is, why are folders missing after the port.
hope your port goes well. i made a patched cm6 to hold myself over until there was a vanilla port, but as the time goes by, i just feel more and more like the real vanilla. good luck.

i hear that it is hard to port from the basic kitchen. whoever o talk to says that it wont boot.
check the /system folder. im sure some subfolders are missing. i tried to port EVOlution from the evo not too long ago, but when i realized folders werent there, i just decided to forget it.
quick question- what rom did you use as the one "from your phone" as the kitchen would put it???

Skyraider 1.0, all it was looking for was the kernel I think. Might compile the kernel myself and use the zimage I generate. When I have time that is. I would love the stock nexus froyo.

maybe try cm6 or just stock 2.1 when you get a chance.

After trying both CM6 and SkyRaider Vanilla, I'm still looking for a true vanilla rom!!
CM 6.0.1 is vanilla, but it's still HEAVILY modified. Plus, it freezes with a blank screen, or Exchange stops updating, or force closes pop up every once in a while, etc.
SkyRaider has a "vanilla" version, but again it's heavily modified.
I'm not asking for just a vanilla UI, I'd like a vanilla UI AND OS. Give me a vanilla OS that hasn't been screwed with...please? A clean, stock, VANILLA UI and OS that's as near to Google's code as possible (like the Nexus One for example), that hasn't been tinkered with, and that just works on the Incredible.
Is this possible????
Check out the Ruby rom in the development section.

[Q] Anyway to pull MIUI lockscreen for CM6?

I have been running the MIUI Port for the Evo for almost 2 days now and I have fallen in love with the lockscreen. The OS is experiencing some bugs and issues (It's a port, what can you expect) and I just wanted to pull the lockscreen from it to run it over CM6 (they're both AOSP roms)... Does anyone know the files or anyway that this can be done?
Bump... Anyone?
I wish I could help. Just keeping your thread alive, people don't like to help that much around here unless it benefits them.
Check System/App
There should be a lockscreen .apk in there.
I'm not all that great with this stuff but you should be able to pull that lockscreen, delete the one from CM6 and push the new one with ADB.....I think, lol.
I think that this would be a good first chef project for me-- pulling the MIUI lockscreen and making it installable on other rom's. It's just too damn pretty to leave to MIUI.

Absolutely... I've grown to love the contacts and dialer as well. I been asking around and everyone's telling me its to waved into the system, and will take a lot of work.

I understand that it's heavily tied in, I don't have much programming experience but I've been looking into the various methods as to how I can pull that lockscreen from the OS but I don't even know where it resides. I would think that it is tied into the framework-res file?

Unfortunately, no. Not without some serious framework porting to the SGH-T989. It's a shame, too. The browser is probably one of the best available for Android. You can get the TouchWiz launcher here, though. It's never been as fluid as the original for me, though.

TW's browser uses hardware accelerated animations and scrolling. Sure, it may not have a huge amount of features, but it's the only browser I've used on any mobile device that's been able to handle high Flash websites without a single bit of lag or jitter. The browser was half the reason I bought an SGSII.
Dolphin is fine, but the scrolling can get very jittery, there's no gesture support, and Flash videos slow it down considerably. It's nice, but those of us who don't need as many features...

Is this your first time using CM? It's the most barebones rom you can get, there won't be any extra software installed like on other roms. It's basically just the core files needed for the phone to operate plus some tweaks & customization options, so you'll have to manually add things like Swype and Driving mode. This is what *I* love about CM though, it's almost like a 'build your own rom' deal.
I'll stick with TW based roms, might try out MIUI. Using the stock android camera, calendar...no thanks. The TW roms are just as fast. I noticed nothing working faster running the CM7 build which is the usual want from everyone at the expense of good looking and more features(not tweaks).
I just flashed CM9 on my Nexus S, it's meh.

Rom's/Themes and Icons

I recently just started doing a bit with my GN. I currently have rooted and installed Revolutions HD 2.1.2 and messed around with some soft key/notification bar mods, but my main goal is to make my phone look far from stock ICS.
-What can I do to gain larger icons, similar to that of the iPhone =/. I like many of the icon packs, but I would just like to be able to re-size them. Does this have to do specifically with the ROM, or with themes?
- Some examples I have seen have been on the Android Themes forums, and MIUI.
- Any help would be appreciated, I've been poking around searching google and the forum for a bit but I haven't seen questions like these answered clearly.

More times I think. Themes will pop up soon.
Once Cyanogenmod 9 comes out there are hundreds of CM themes that will make it look FAR from stock ICS.
Also you can try using an alternate launcher, like GoLauncher EX, ad using a theme for GoLauncher, like a HTC Sense theme
Check out all the GO Launcher Themes HERE for a bunch of ways to make it look not like stock ICS
