I have searched through the forums looking for a good ASOP global rom. I have read through many pages of posts, but from what I have seen, ASOP and global don't work together. I'm currently running SkyRaider Zeus, which works great, but I'm getting tired of Sense. I'm hoping that I missed something and there's a great global ASOP rom out there.
Any recommendations?

Just got my Dinc2 tonight, so I've got no answer, but what if you simply restored a Sense rom when traveling overseas and then restored the ASOP rom when you return to CDMA-land? Clunky, I know, but it's better than nothing.

I have read quite a few posts about cm7 and global. There are some major issues when trying to switch to gsm. Switching to GSM most likely requires a reboot, and I also read a few posts about people not getting data over gsm.

I know this has probably been asked to death, but the suggested results returned nothing...
Did a titanium backup, and a rom manager backup Via clockwork..... But now i cannot decide on which ROM to use!
It also doesnt help that when im reading specs... i have NO idea what 70% of it means, so its hard to base my own decision. So.....
Which ROM do you use? What are its best features? Is it a noticeable difference from Stock to Custom? Are they buggy? I have so many questions, but dont wanna be a bother... So maybe if you could just give me benefits of the one you use, that would be great.
Thank you
So long as you've got your backup, just go ahead and try some of the roms that are out there. If you don't like a particular rom, flash another.
Personally I like the Sense based roms, I have tried others but I keep going back to Sense. I'm currently using InsertCoin which based on a Desire HD rom, small fonts compared to the Desire, but other features including Skins (themes), HTCSense.com phone finder (which doesn't always work).
Are you wanting to try a non Sense based rom? There are plenty out there to play with, MIUI, Cyanogen, Gingerbread roms too.
In this forum, there is a thread which compares all the available ROM's (I'll post the link once I find it)
As @UKseagull mentioned, try different ROM's , You might find a suitable one for you !
Jeeezus ****ing christ. There needs to be a sticky to say that a rom is a rom that YOU, the user must decide on. It is not about what we think, it is about what you think. Your own PERSONAL PREFERENCE!
This is prob the 10th thread this week about that same topic.

Why are you so angry if someone asks a perfectly in place question?!
There are really many roms for the Desire, and I am _sure_ most of them are not stable.
So, if a newbee asks which rom should he try, an experienced flasher could point to the most stable rom. One with Sense, one without. This is very valuable information.
Why should EVERYBODY flash 10 roms before he/she finds a stable one?!
When I was flashing roms on my previous winmo phone, I was ALWAYS responding to such questions to my best knowledge.
And, yes, there are many same threads, because MANY people want to know about this and cannot find ANY info.
So, in short, either answer the man or shut up!

I'm using InsertCoin at the moment which is a ported HD ROM and seems really good. If you want to stick with non HD then LeeDroid is great.

He's angry because it's like the 10th time people ask the same (stupid) question over and over again. In the development part you can find plenty of topics about roms. Some of them are stable, some of the are not, you can read it all in their specific thread. Read, read, read, that's all you have to do here. I'm a noob too and I've been reading like 4 weeks here before I decided to flash a certain rom (leedroid), and it works great.
It's a shame that XDA doesn't have a poll similar to the ZTE - which rom poll over at Modaco, a quick look and you can see which are the most popular roms in use at that point in time. http://android.modaco.com/content/z...omisation/329997/poll-what-rom-are-you-using/
The OP asked a question because they probably value advice from the more experienced rom flashers here , those that are willing to give advice will do so. Yes, rom choice is an individual preference but there's really no need for people to reply with derogatory comments, just ignore the thread and leave it to the others that are willing to help.

Read? Did you not READ where i said that the specs mean NOTHING cause i dont exactly understand what im "Getting" in a rom? Im pretty computer literate, and have only had my desire (or android in general), for maybe 3 weeks. This is all new to me. Ive sim unlocked and rooted thus far without confusion or asking for help.
Its just the specs. Theres so much **** in them that i dont understand that its hard to pick one. Intimidating sorta.
Thanks to all that helped. I think im going to try leedroid. Its sense based, which i like over vanilla from what ive seen.
I come from LeeDroid which is an awesome Sense ROM. Currently though I use Redux which is senseless. What can I say, I like it minimalistic. I also prefer to decide myself what apps should be installed on -my- phone.
I wish Lee came out with a clean AOSP build... Or I figured out how to use his kernel and build my own.
Anyway good luck.

I've been using LeeDroid for several months now with no issues at all. If you check his minisite out, he lists all the apps you can safely remove from the zip prior to flashing without damaging it. That way you are only installing the bare minimum required to run a Sense ROM and you then just add the bits you want.
Personally I only run a Sense ROM because I like the HTC dialer, clock and phonebook over the vanilla Android ones. I use launcher pro which just seems to be snappier than Sense with more customising options.

Mine is almost two months old and I flashed a rom for the first time last week.
Leedroid runs great but as said earlier it all depends on personal preferences, I also installed Launcher Pro cause i like it more compared to the stock dock etc.
Good luck!

I have not ran them all but out of the ones I have ran nils business sense 3 2.1 is the best,IMO. I am running it along with latest kernel gingertiny and phone running better than ever, absolutely everything is working as well( that is a major requirement for me)
Try it out here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175842
In the nil's business sense, is there a way to get rid of all the black skinning like on the widgets and in the sms app. I would like it to have the stock sense theme on this rom.

Instead of asking other people to do your leg work, you could spend an hour reading through the threads to see which one suits you best. Each ROM has its quirks, features, and customizations depending on the dev.
That said, I agree with everyone else. Nils' is my personal favorite. Runs smooth, no issues that I can find, and it's very appealing visually.

Since I don't have 10 posts yet and can't post in the Development thread, I thought I would ask in here. There were some comments about a possible update to the Community ROM last month, but the thread has been dead since then. Does anyone know if there is an update coming? The ROM has been great so far in any case.

It's unlikely there will be an update. OVOrene moved on. Though apparently he got another DINC so, who knows - maybe there will be an update. I wouldn't hold my breath.
Nils' Business GingerSense 3.0 is the one I'd go with except I don't like the dark theme.

I'm finally tired of seeing everyones phones blow by mine speed wise so I think its time to find a faster rom than the stock. I don't need a ton of extras or themes, just the closest to stock experience with more speed. I'm leaning towards Virtuous G-Lite. Its not the overclockest I know, but it seems near-stockest. Any opinions/reviews are welcome!

Its been asked a million times. You will find people with every single ROM under the sun that will say it works for them. It is 100% personal preference.
Just go through the dev section, read the description and features, look through the comments in the thread, and if you like it then flash it.
You can always go back to your current ROM. Just make nandroid backups of every ROM you try and you can switch back and forth until you choose one you like.
The most popular AOSP (close to stock) ROMs are CM7, G-lite, and super simple ROMs like Xboarder56's stock.
Well I was moreso looking for a list of the closest to stock (AOSP) which you provided, and I have looked over the features of CM7 and G-lite, which is why I was leaning towards G-lite, I was just looking for personal experience because you can read features of a million and a half different roms, (which I have) but none will list "buggy as hell" or "eats battery" in their feature list. Thank you for the response!

But thats why I indicate that you read through some recent posts in the ROM thread. If its a good ROM people will actively be posting and following the issues and you can see them there.
And even at that point, its all how they're personally using and setting up the ROM. Their experience can be quite different from yours. If it works for you, then that's what matters. I really recommend just flashing and trying yourself.
In the amount of time you made these posts and read the replies, you easily could have just flashed one of those ROMs and be trying it out. Seriously, flashing a ROM is fast and simple (if already rooted and S-Off), just start flashing and see what you like. Even if you got tons of advice and opinions on the ROMs, the real proof is in the pudding, and trying them yourself.
As far as I know there is g-lite gingerbliss i think that are stock looking, but I know most aosp roms like cyanogen will look similar since the G2 stock rom was pretty much vanilla android. I was looking for the same thing and went with the completely stock prer00ted GB and it is way faster than froyo! I was gonna overclock but i'm kinda happy with it. I'll prob give g-lite a spin when they update one more time
Upgrading my girlfriends evo tonight with latest and greatest. She was currently running cm7. I want a latest updated ROM, however the video recorder and MMS need to work. I see the the ffc and 4g is common not working which is OK.
Can someone also please suggest a kernel to match up with this. I prefer aosp but willing to try a modified sense 3.0+ ROM.
Thanks for the help! I have a toro nexus and do not view the evo fourm much!

Hmmm, so instead of using your time to give me a suggestion, u have to troll the thread instead. Thunbs up to u buddy.
Let me clarify. I know where to find the ROMs, kernels, themes etc. I know there are many choices when it comes to roms (aosp, sense, miui etc). I am not looking for some to hold my hand and explain to me the differences, because truth is that I probably have tried many if not all of them on my nexus. However the situation I am in is that my girl friends evos is outdated running a stable version of cm7 and timemat kernel and is starting to act up. I was thinking of just reflashing cm7 with a fresh start, however gingerbread is very outdated.
So because this is not my phone, I do not have the time to test ROM/kernel combos like I do on my nexus. That is why I am simply asking for suggestions from my fellow xda members.
I am looking for a aosp jelly bean ROM (if not ICS). I need this ROM to be stable (FFC and 4g borked not a big deal) but must have MMS and video recording. From what I can tell, these are the most common issues.
So please give me some suggestions of something I can flash on her phone without biting off my head. I would greatly appreciate it.
I was also curious about theatest and greatest kernel since timat is way outdated, however I will save that for a further question because trollers get mad.
Posts like this are against the "rules" because it could cause issues between devs or members trying to say who is better or what not.
Your best bet is to use search or go read op's of the 10 or so ICS roms.

Hello everyone,
I'm an oldschool ROM flasher, and I've honestly gotten tired of Flashing now (I have flashed my good share of ROMs).
I also haven't been on XDA forum for a whileeee.. so I'm a little outdated as to what's out, and good.. although I have looked a bit.
So overall.. getting to the point..
I want to what the most stable STOCK looking rom is (in your opinion) that I don't have to be flashing constantly and can just keep it on my phone for loooonnnnggggg with no bugs or almost none.. and fast.
And also name me another non-stock rom AOKP or AOSP etc etc.. that is like I described above.
Please,
and I will rep everyone as well.
