If you're rooted I've heard that the wifi tether for root users app works if you put the phone down as a galaxy nexus cdma/lte.

I finally got my tether to work on the unlimited data plan BUT NOW I can't get my phone to work with my PS3 but the one issue I don't get is that it works completely fine on my Xbox 360, I am rooted, and I'm usuing WiFi Tether for Root users

Sorry couldn't help out in the other thread. I don't have a ps3 to do any trial and errors.
All good man I really appreciate the effort I'm just confused because my cousins Epic 4g Touch with the same tether app works fine with both my ps3 and Xbox 360 but my galaxy s2 only works on the Xbox and not my ps3

Can you tether a computer to your phone and use internet explorer? I am getting that same error. But I think it's due to T-Mobile blocking HTTP protocol.

Yes I can use internet explorer, I can tether to my Xbox, PC, and all other devices but not my PS3 I'm a sad panda

Lol, what app are you using to tether? I looked up the error number and it has something to do with DNS.

Yeah that's what I use. Are you able to connect and use the ps3 browser?

You can't tether to your ps3.. AT ALL. The PS3 doesn't support ad-hoc which is what most tethering apps use. Try tethering with the built in tethering capabilities as they broadcast using AP instead of ad-hoc.

It has the option to use AP but these phones don't. They use adhoc. Try it for yourself. Windows will report an adhoc connection not an access point. Trust me I've been through this with my own ps3. I had to tether to my laptop and then use ICS through the Ethernet port.

Well I just traded my ps3 but now my issues is whenever I tether to my Xbox 360 I can't update my games, download new items or download apps ugh I REALLY hate T-Mobile right now

I tethered to my cousins ps3 last night using built in tethering in dark side v8. It worked but T-Mobile caught onto it, sent me a text and blocked AP tethering since the ps3 doesn't support adhoc tetherig that was the end of the road for that venture lol

Dude, dont use wifi tether for root users for this phone. Only does ad-hoc on this this device. Ps3 is very strict, only infrastructure network you can. Only the built in tethering works on ps3. I personally use infamous resurrection since the tether restriction was removed by the dev. I use it and haven't they haven't cut the plug yet like other roms.
Hey guys what is the best app to use for wifi tether? I also want it to work on 4g as well. Thanks all.

TrevE's WiFi tether. It's in Google Play
Is that the same as trev es wifi tether.

android-wifi-tether is the one I use; it works great. It does require root and a kernel with netfilter.
It comes preinstalled with some ROM's, so you may already have it.

Does CM10.1 have free tethering built in? Or, do I have to edit APN's and such to get around T-Mobile's 500mb a month limit?
It should have free tethering. It did on my n4. I can only assume its the same for the S4

Simple answer, yes.
Is tethering like the wifi hotspot thing?

Yes
T-Mobile will check your user agent to see if you are tethering though. Normally you can use a VPN to encrypt all of your traffic, but I cant find a 3rd party tethering app that will work on CM10.1, 10.2, or any 4.3 ROM
