What is that answer?
I heard it from the grapevine that it's going to be around October.
HTC Will Release a WM6.5 download for TP2 as stated above in October after there is at least one Carrier release in the u.s.
Ok, based on a few suggestions, I am starting this thread as an Android 2.2 rumor thread for the Epic 4G. This is to be the ONLY thread complaining, whining, commenting, or asking about 2.2 on the Epic! Report all other threads about 2.2 rumors on the Epic and I'll merge them into this one. Also, repeat offenders who make more then one new thread about 2.2 outside this one will be infracted/and or banned for trolling. Thank you for your cooperation, and happy posting

Woo! More unsubstantiated rumors.
With each failed attempt at guessing a release date, our chances of being correct on the next guess improve, right guys? Guys?
So EA17 means that it was completed on the 17th of January. So either they are clueless how to release this OTA without bricking devices or they are really testing the **** out of this one then. I hope its the latter case.
I feel like Charlie Brown going to kick the football. Surely Lucy won't pull it away again this time...
I think this one will actually be the one, theres already proof with that picture. Now Now, I know that it can be edited, but still, it seems like this date will be the one we were actually waiting for.
I just don't get it.
EA17... so it's already done.
It's not out because it's being tested.
So why is there a release date?
- If they know it's fine, it should be out already.
- If they expect it to fail, then how do they know it will be ready by a certain date?
If I had my way a lot would be different... but I don't understand how/why the final release will not be a build dated maybe a week before the actual release date, a date we will not know until it happens.

It makes perfect sense. They are going to test whatever they release for a while to make sure its polished. The rumor that AC received was probably that IF they dont find any major bugs in this version, it will be released on the 21st.
If they are so sure it's fine, they should release it now...
And if they DO find an issue, they'll disappoint everyone AGAIN.
This is nothing more than predicting the future, and they've been doing it poorly for 6mos now, why does Sprint think they'll get it right this time?
Releasing it at such-and-such date assuming all's well is what they have been doing since August.

Sprint isn't leaking the rumors. It's individuals that work for Sprint who want to give us an idea of when we might expect it (then they find some bugs)... or just douchebags that want to throw out rumors for laughs. Again, Sprint doesn't say when they are releasing updates because that makes them look worse if it's buggy or they don't follow through.

I am running 2.2, it has some issues, but works remarkably well. No FC's, and only slight screen rotation lag. So I can wait for Froyo... I am willing to wait because I want them to fix any and all bugs... Whether that be GPS, keyboard misses, screen rotation, whatever..
I am not a Sprint Lacky, have no stock in the company, but how people can get so emotionally attached to a software upgrade is beyond me. I can only imagine what people will be saying if they released a rushed buggy version.
Those of us that flashed the FroYo DK28 will still get this OTA if/when it comes out, right?
Still getting used to this phone. The Nexus One I used to have was a lot different.
I'd be happy with a new leak that's better than DK28 instead of "release dates" for froyo.

Not exactly. You will have to flash stock DI18 for the OTA to come through and install. But I recommend waiting for our dev teams to get hold of it first to tweak it.

TL'DR - A sprint executive told me there is an update in the final stages with a December release to fix LoS
Full story:
I have been having problems since I bought this phone with LoS and had been having bad customer service to the extreme which I won't go into here.
A couple of days ago I did an executive email bomb (not the [email protected] address, but their actual email addresses). Bob Johnson, the customer service top guy at Sprint personally called to apologize to me at 9pm at night. After I explained the issue, he said he would research the issue and get back to me. A top Samsung dev called me today who said he had spoke to Bob and informed me that an update was due in December. He offered to push the update to my phone now but said it was still in testing, so I declined.
He explained the cause of the issue to me. It is isolated to areas with spotty coverage, which is why some don't experience it at all. If you are in 4g and leave 4g coverage, or in 3g coverage and leave 3g coverage, and in the process of sending packets, there is apparently a bug where the phone does not detect this and would just give up after it could no longer talk to the old tower.
Sounds good but I don't expect much unless they officially state that.
EDIT: I retract my above statement.
Thanks OP.

Lol he literally was willing to push the update to me that moment. I only declined because he emphasized it was still in testing and could make things worse, phone too critical to risk that.
you could have accepted, pushed the new update, make a dump (for the devs) and revert back to your old nandroid? lol
though when i read the title i thought this was about ics. lol

I considered that and am still considering calling him back Monday and telling him to go ahead and send it, but I am not an android dev, dont know what this update will break as far as root and recovery especially since it is an internal samsung build, and not sure I want to risk that when December is like a week away.

You're looking at this from the wrong perspective. You have the opportunity to provide the community with everything they would need to fix LoS and you're only worried about what it will mess up on your phone. After receiving, packaging and uploading the update, you can easily just Odin back to what you're on now until our developers can modify, test and compile. Ask any of the developers how to upload an OTA after you receive it.

I will call back Monday and see if the offer still stands. Of course there is always a chance he uses xda which would suck.

Most techs us xda.....especially htc crew.
XDA has played a big part in their success which is why my avatar is so jolly. They tried to pull fast one locking down 3D boot loader giving us the middle finger.
I would jump on the offer to test the fix. It would be great to have someone from the community actually help test the fix, even if you don't feel comfortable sharing whatever is pushed to your device.

Forgot to mention, he did say they originally intended to release the LoS update this month, but some other bugs were discovered so they just wanted to do a single maintenance release in December instead. Don't know of the bug you mentioned is one of them.

the update was never supposed to come out in November - refer to link above!
A dev in irc #epic mentioned LoS was due to tower switch also.

it's interesting that when xda members don't like the content of a post they get sad and try to discredit the information. All the information in this post was given to xda in October. I went through the hassle of calling Samsung and Sprint and brought xda the same information here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313705 - but I guess because it was October and December was so far away, people didn't want to believe it.
Now its close to December and the information is much more palatable to the members so everyone quickly accepts the information as fact and everything is just peachy.
Maybe the membership should treat other members with enough respect to give them the benefit of the doubt on information that is provide. Bringing BS info to the forums would not benefit me in anyway and the reception of such information with the "that's BS" mentality only makes it less likely for members to contribute openly due to the expectation of facing criticism.
Either way, thank you Kingsway8605 and please excuse my interruption of your thread!
Glad to be re insured the update is still on its way unlike my Logitech revue update!

I just know what I was told by a reliable person. I can guarantee the person in the link was not dealing with someone as high up, and the thread was started in late october, so it is possible there was a different timetable before that. If you want to doubt it, that if fine, but I trust the person capable of pushing me the update more than the tech support person mentioned in the linked thread.

That means ICS will drop next summer on this phone if they've taken this long for the LOS fix.

so now it will take one day longer because of this thread. thanks.

It will be a tool for the rim developers to sign their boot images, so the G3 would flash it.
It will be released when it's released.
dude stop asking for eta, leave our devs alone and they will deliver for sure! just be patient or you'll end up like others who sold their g3 just because they couldnt wait for bootloader unlock, then bump came.. same thing for the website, we all need to calm our horses and wait for the devs to perfect their work.
Please post questions in the Q&A section.

Why is everyone so impatient? Most people complaining will never actually use this service themselves anyway, their demands are purely selfish because they want more development to happen.
Just wait, of course they will release it, they would not have bothered wasting everyone's, including their own releasing the TWRP image if they were not going to follow through.
What they are doing is not a quick job, they are building a website where images can be uploaded, patched on their servers then downloaded again, they are also releasing an API so that it can be done via scripts rather than on a website - this takes time, and there is no point releasing anything until its all ready.
We should see android 5.0 before the end of this year (according to LG UK, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium) so start focusing on that for now and leave Team Codefire to do their thing.

What this man said. Be patient.
We should wait until Lollipop is released, as they say, till december. Otherwise LG can maybe STOP bump from 5.0,I don't know. There's no need for this hurry, i really don't see the point.
Can't believe you even put a [serious] tag on there. Bump website is going to come when it's going to come. That's your serious answer.
I've heard that the Moto G5 is getting 7.1.1? Is this correct? I'm waiting for the update! To confirm this. Thanks in advance

As to is this correct? How do we know? Your're the one telling us - Members of xda don't know what is going inside Motorola and only know what is publicly released by them.
its not informative and there are plenty of other update type threads already - we don't need yet another
If I'm "wrong" blame this guy?!
I don't think he was suggesting it was wrong, just that no one outside of Motorola knows. A lot of people have not had a single update to their Moto G5 and are still running Android 7.0 with a security patch level of January 2017...

If that was a Motorola chat person it's been proven they don't know dates or anything about releases other than what is already publicly available on the Motorola website
Soak tests can last months & then they are rolled out in stages depending on the following
Geographical location
Device variant
Retail (sim unlocked from purchase) or branded (bought from a carrier eg Vodafone or other non retail eg amazon)
If a Motorola chat person gives you a date it's because they are fed up with people asking & just want to get rid of you

Also, before posting a thread, please ensure that there isn't ALREADY a similar thread previously posted as only ONE thread for each topic needs to be active in Xda.
