[Q] sense rom with best battery life - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i flashed cyanogenmod 7 because i needed better battery life but i absolutely hate the ui. Anyone know a sense rom with a battery life which lasts as long as the original pre-rooted sense??

Its not really much to do with the ROM. Its more about which kernel you use.

oh so what kernel shud i use?

I can suggest acemod007 v41. It works very good and good batterylife.

yh but having the ram full all the time is also not a good thing. for example i was using AceSmod007-3D rom and i was useing opera mobile to browse the internet and i got a message. so i pressed menu to reply to the message and when i went onto opera mobile it started again and i lost all my tabs. in the stock htc rom i could open at least 3 applications including opera mobile in the background. so can any1 recommend a ram friendly sense rom like the stock htc rom and with a good battery life like the stock rom??

A rooted stock 2.3.3 Such as the one by Teppic74, with an -snq kernel perhaps

not any specific mods but with some new features e.t.c?

Stock sense 2.1 like SGBS or Leedroid without bull**** maybe? I guess they're next in line after Runnymede by sebastiaan15 stability wise.

[Q] Battery life issue of Desire

Hi All
I am using Runnymede AllinOne v2.1 Custom ROM on my HTC Desire. Previously I was using AcesMod007 v31 ROM and I was quite happy with the battery life. But, I am experiencing low battery life in this ROM (Runnymede AllinOne v2.1).
Q1. Does battery life depend on the ROM or any other thing (such as Kernel)?
Q2. I don't use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS. My screen brightness is always 40%. Sometimes Mobile Network is turned on. Without suggesting usage optimization, could you please suggest me a way of improving battery life on my current ROM?
Device detail-
HTC Desire
SW- Desire Runny 5.0
Android 2.3.5
Sense 3.5
Sync off (Manual Sync)
Kernel version- 2.6.35.14-gingercakes-0.8e
Baseband version- 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23
I will be grateful if you please help me with the issue.
Thanks-

Apps are fine. And I don't use auto sync option. Lets assume it is related to Kernel. What do you suggest me to do?
Thank you for your kind reply, Terepin.

Change it. But look only for Sense kernels.

I know a very little about kernel things. What is AOSP kernel and where to find it? Can you please give me a link?
Thank you once again for your support, Terepin.
-Shuprio
You CANNOT use AOSP kernels. Runnymede is a Sense ROM so you must find sense Kernels.
Upps, my bad, heh.
Well, RunnyMede AIO has been poor on battery life from the start. People have reported slightly better battery life when using snq's kernels. However, snq's kernels currently have a bug that causes it to not have USB mode.

Thanks itachi1706 for your informative reply. Now which one do you prefer me to use? Runnymede doesn't allow me to use internet pass through. Is it related to kernel anyway? :

I believe the internet pass through is a Rom related bug although some people are able to use it while others can't, but you can try changing kernels to see if it works. Snq apparently has a USB_fix flashable zip that might solve the USB issue but there are mixed results from people using it.

Well, I wasn't trying to criticize the Rom. It IS a great Rom, one of the best Sense 3.x Rom I've seen. I'm just suspecting that the battery life has got to do with the kernel as I did mentioned the fact that people are getting better battery life with snq then GC.

SNQ sorted out usb problem in his latest kernel. You can try it. Download links are in the last pages of sebastians runnymede's thread.

A bit hard to answer that. There's many to choose from.
I like ARHD ROMs for the stock look.
LeeDrOiD ROMs for different tweaks
These are just 2 of many good ROMs.

Yep, ARHD is awesome!
However, the fastest ROM with the best Battery life still is CM9...

I hope to see a official CM9 thread on XDA soon..
I like leedroid - good battery and Aroma installer for some options (but I waiting for stable CM9, because AOSP-style is magnificent)

the CM9 port I mentioned actually is really stable, it just has some bugs, mostly with the camera :/ .. problem with imagesense chip. However, this is the main reason why I'm going to switch back to ARHD, waiting for a stable CM9, like you said

Yup. Agree with fekle. CM9 is the best rom I'd flashed so far. But I revert back to leedroid Because the sense camera is much better. Try Franco's kernel by the way. Give me excellent battery life compared to stock or other kernels

Ive flashed them all, and I still cant choose my ROM
Somehow they are all the same. None of them stands out. Except the themed ones of course. But I miss the wow factor. Something new. It seems like all the devs (or tweakers?) copy each others work, so we ended up having 4 of the same ROM. Only with different names.
Sorry if I offended anyone, but that is just how I see it. I am no dev.

So the main culprit for the poor battery life of seemingly all HTC phones, including the One X, is still sense 4.0 and not the tegra 3 chipset?
How ready is cm9?

Well to quote myself, I managed to install cm9. Seems ok to me. I can't speak of the battery life yet, but I'll see.
Guys, PLEASE educate me on what a kernel is and does, what's a custom ROM & what does it have to do with battery life, etc.?
Thanks

[Q] Looking for a simple, low resource ROM. Can't decide.

Hi,
today I got the idea of changing my current ROM to one that is 100% stable, runs very smooth and has a good battery life/low resource use.
I was thinking of a modified Froyo rom like Starburst. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916417 )
I'm not interested in any extra functionality besides phone-music player. I just need it to do those two things perfectly and to never choke, freeze. (for example my current ROM has frequent freezes of the music app during playback).
What do you think?
Thanks for your time
CyanogenMod7 or MildWild Oxygen, both small, smooth, stable, u wont have any problems. Ul find them both in Desire Android Development. If some1 recommends JB/ICS then just ignore them haha

I think I found CM7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957344) and I know MildWild and I am using it now. I would like to change it. Overall it's smooth but the music player glitches are getting to me, since I use that several times a day.
CM7 seems incomplete by the looks of some comments. I would like something final.
That being said, thank you for suggesting those two.
You wont find anything more complete than CM7, lol.
Where did you found those "comments" ?
Redux. I think v 2 was the best. Development has long since stopped but it was the most stripped down, battery friendly when I had my desire.

MokeeOS was really fast and stable for me and gace good battery life. The developer has stopped updates but the current ROM works as good as can be.
Thread:

Before i was using that, I was using MIUI-XJ which is nice but not that lightweight.
Currently I am trying out Jelly Bean but wi-fi doesn't work for me so I'll probably return to MokeeOS

I too think CM7 would be a good choise, since it is one of the more stable roms i've used

Lightest ROM (less RAM consumption)

I have used several ROM in my HTC one V, at least 5 or 6 different.
With all of them I have always had the same problem, I hit the RAM limit easily so the phone becomes slow as hell.
There is any ROM that works fast or consumes as less RAM as possible?
Thanks in advance.

Not really a "best rom" thread. The question here is valid, l0rdraiden is looking for the rom that uses the least ram.
l0rdraiden it may be best to view each rom OP. In many cases the OP will list this. Otherwise, you will need to continue the trial and error method.
