Can't wait to try it after our talented devs manage to build a ROM for the Defy.
Nice! Can't wait for CM9!!!
I would be really happy if an ics Rom was developed for the defy. I sold my sensation to buy one and was excited when I read about the possibility of having ics still.

Just wondering...

probably nightly, dont think they are capable of making a stable in two months. but still, those nightlies are quite usable in my experience, so i wont wait till a stable one

I know the 2.3 SDK is out and some builds have popped up showcasing some basic gingerbread features. I am curious as to when we can expect to see stable builds of gingerbread appear that can be used as a daily ROM.
I wasnt in the root and ROM game when Froyo was released so i have no concept of what to expect. Does the release of the Nexus S bring us closer? Will we have to wait for Verizon devices to receive the update?
A few weeks after source is released.
I would say shortly after the source code is released; exactly how fast depends on how much has to be done for it to be made compatible. You will see stock OS and kernels first.. sense will follow much later.
do we know when the source code will be released?
I am pretty sure source the source was releases today for the N 1

Kernel sources are different from the android system that we need
Patience, OP, patience.
If you can't wait, get to work on it!
I am not a huge fan of vanilla android, but I will try out some gingerbread, but I would prefer gingerbread with sense!
I don't think its out of the question to see a daily driver after a system dump of the nexus one/s is pulled.

will defy get ice cream on cynogenmod?
When it's ready.
PS: Ice cream sandwich is even out yet!
I am worried about the "old" kernal we have.
Perhaps it is time for us to move on 2.3 kernal for defy+
Sent from my MB525
Maybe, hope so...
Would love ice cream on my defy

I do use the defy+ kernel for cm7

There are no official word from either CM Team or Quarx, it's hard to say that.

There will be no SDK port of ICS as stated by the Cyanogen Mod team. We can only expect a port (CM9) when the ICS source is out.
Sent from Android 2.3.7
I dont know what SDK and ICS are..so in simple language, defy won't get ice cream sandwich?? :-(

I think it will take some time for ICS CM9 to come out. Meanwhile we could try the apk that are pulled from the orginal ICS. Has anyone got it working????

Now it's only a matter of time till our awesome devs get it to run on our phones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Devs, Go Devs!
let the development start !!
REALLY exciting news!!! Hope the CM team picks up ICS in their nightlies quickly!
Cant wait to try the new interface/functions, some features should be similar to Sense roms.
Awesome!...now both the devs and the CM team can work on outing above perfect ROMs for our 'still very much alive; HD2!!!...its only a matter of time i guess. And with talk of a possible Siri port for Android, things are really looking up for the HD2...and dont forget that the full 576MB of RAM has not been unleasehd until now.If all the above is made possible, i think the HD2 will be relevant for at least one more year...
Woohooooo..!!!
Gonna get the ICS on the HD2 pretty soon now..!!!
Yessshhh!!! Cmon devss !! Ics before xmas!!! :d
Wrong section
woop woop !
So our HD2 is still fast enough for this ICS right?????????? Lol just want to make sure, don't want it to be like the current sense 3.0 roms

You cant compare stock Android to Sense. Sense is android with ****loads of bloat code added to it. Dont get me wrong I like Sense but im really looking forward to stock ICS.
Compared to Gingerbread, how long you think until we have a functional port to ICS, just asking since I want into Android when Gingerbread was released

It depends, GB and ICS are quite a bit different than froyo was to GB. If I remember correctly it took a couple of weeks to a month after GB came out when we had a stable enough build to be considered daily.
Proper drivers are gonna determine how fast we get ICS developed on the HD2.
I can't decide which I'm more excited about: ICS itself, or the included Honeycomb source!
Either way, there is no other phone I would want to have right now!

Shouldnt be long now.

Well, as I remember it, Gingerbread was released around the same time last year. And just before Christmas there were many different available roms that ran smoothly without a lot of issues.
So lets, hope this will hold true with the ICS release as well.
waiting ICS HD2
Nice, cant wait till the ROM i use gets updated to 4.0
New interface/functions look epic
Will be getting a Nexus Galaxy next januari
free bump..

stock pics rs are out there, but since the base is unofficial and 'leaked', they are all tweaked a little.
Soon the official pics update will be released and you will be able to just get the ota update.
Also, if you look in the development forum you'll see that there is an alpha release that is there, but it is very raw and in early development.
Hope hat helps,
Sean

Yes we will get stable AOSP 4.0, it's in the works.
you have to remember that all the ICS roms out now are leaks and unoffical releases. Once an offical build hits its a tweak and customize frenzy. Thats when you get somethng stable. these roms are just "test" for a more stable rom. Ive seen android 2.1 go through hundreds of different leaks before a stable build hits
I just can't wait for stock ICS! it was great on my nexus s so I know it gonna be a best on this!
They are still in nightly mode. I would suspect a release candidate by the end of the month, with the ota coming in late April.

what's the deal with JellyBean for Tmobile SGS2? do developers need the official release in order to develop 4.1 based roms?

Yes, they need to have the source code in order to make it available for our phones. I just cant wait for a stable complete CM9 or AOKP build!

Official AOKP has been out for about a month now. Build #40 at AOKP.co if you wanna read up on it. The next Milestone will be out very soon with even more features built in. By far the best ROM for our phone... PERIOD!

I had lots of issues with Chimera vs Hercules RC1. I kinda like AOKP better than CM9 but its hard to say. I REALLY want the ability to disable full screen as i could with CM7. But hey its up to the devs i guess :/
