You could try by getting a damp cloth and give it a bit of a wipe at the camera lense.
Photoshop?

It sounds like the shutter speed is really slow when you take your photos. Chances are, this is a lighting problem. If you're taking pictures in any environment other than bright, the shutter speed might be too slow which will cause that blur to happen. You can try to use the LED flash if the subject is close enough. You can also change the exposure to +1 or +2 which will increase the shutter speed, negating the blur. The downside to increasing the exposure is that you increase the sensitivity of the image sensor to light which introduces noise into your photo.
camera 360 is free, i think the only difference on the paid version is the colorful effect w/c is useless anyway..

Is there a way to mod the camera so your can manually focus the shot? Sometimes when in macro mode it over focuses and the image is still blurry.
Thanks

not sure if this is what you were asking for. simply touch the spot on the screen where you need focus before taking a pic?

No that just tells the camera to focus on a specific area of the screen. What I'm wanting to be able to manually adjust the amount of focus on an image
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
ok, you need "focus ring" like capability. I am not aware of any cam app that can do that. i don't know whether the camera firmware provides interfaces for such (low-level) functionality, but an indirect method would be to use a reference ruler in the pic for gradually adjusting focal length ( still a pain, I know).

Does anyone know how (if possible) to access the resolution data within our phones and if it's possible to permanently change those data values? The current work around that I have to use it on a daily basis is the MIUI camera apk which lets you choose your resolution, but it only holds within the scope of that app. When using other apps, such as SnapChat, it reverts back to the default which doesn't function properly.
Any ideas?
You can't necessarily boost resolution by changing values. It comes down to a hardware limitation. If its only a 1.3MP resolution, then that's all you have to work with.

Well I already have the MIUI camera for everyday use. I'm trying to figure out a way to see if I can permanently change the resolution so that it holds for other apps such as Snapchat.
Bump
What you can do to make it work for the whole OS is lowering/raising the dpi, try looking up apps in the Play Store that let you change it, or apps here on XDA
This would only be for the phone itself though, not any pictures you take

Cool thanks, I'll give that a shot when I have some down time at work and report back.
Lowering the DPI had positive and negative results.
Positive: everything looked a lot crisper, giving it the appearance of having a higher aspect ratio
Negative: not everything flowed properly with the lower DPI and the camera issue within Snapchat was still prevalent
I'll switch back to the default just to make sure everything is functioning properly, but thanks for the help!
For the record, I read this, and used ES File Explorer to make the changes.
EDIT: I'm going to see if there's a camera setting in the build.prop file mentioned in that article that could help for just the camera.

i tend to argue against your advice. that's just absurd!
however.... a pair of vise-grips would work. just pinch it smaller! squeeze it on top and bottom and you'll get a panorama effect!

Hi... Just bought xperia Ion (no LTE) and one of the main reason I selected it is for the camera resolution.... but with big surprise I'm just noticing that pictures are very bad... lot of noise!
Additionally the camera focus is extremely slow!.... Did anyone experience the same?... I'm on last official firmware. Maybe some mod is available.....
Any help is really appreciated....

Believe me....I had Xperia Arc and photos were much better...I also have Nokia N8 and pictures are just amazing! I like Xperia ION, but unless my camera has hw issues, the photos are simply very low level ones!...What is really disappointing me (along with the Jpeg noise) is the extremely slow focus during camera recording as well...also not available the touch focus!.....Anyway I m going to try the mod you suggested.....
Just quick updating: I installed the camera mod and did some tests. In outdoor light condition autofocus is very quick and pictures are great! Indoor light condition (morning not night), camera focus seems slightly more responsive if physical picture button is used, but autofocus becomes very slow and 30% of the pictures are out of focus. I will continue in playing with setting but I have doubt I could get good behavior in indoor condition!...Anyway, reading in the network, the very slow focus problem is well known issue! (((

This should be software problem
Sony is not good at modifying CameraUI:silly:
Sad but true, my ion cant take pictures as good as my n8. Auto modes dont help much either. I noticed that while taking a few videos on low light using yhe different modes, camera just wont focus when zooming in. I had to tweak some settings( set focus to infinite) to get the image to focus correctly( running xzxperience by the way). Tweaking the settings manually definitelt improves results though. I expected a bit more from sony? Guess I wont be selling my N8 any time soon.

The camera sucks when u take photos from places there are Yellow light, warm light for example in your house. this photos lose quality, but if u use the video cam from those places, u will notice lot of noise..
I have that problem , my cam works 100% in places there are lightday for example in the street, if u take a photo there, the pic will have a nice quality and if u use the videocam u wont see noise.
I think that this problem is software.. i have xperia ion ics version 6.1.c.1.111, but when i had the version 6.1.c.1.105 the camera worked much better

Hi all
I've been using this device for long. Recently while taking few pics i realized that camera couldn't on near objects. It can only focus on near objects upto a certain focal length and for lesser distance it focuses on far object and hence subject is blurred while background becomes focussed.. Anyone else having this issue.??

I've just taken a picture of my mouse.
The spot I marked is the spot I let my device focus, its nearly exactly 6 centimeters from the camera away.
http://i.imgur.com/kMDewJW.jpg
I think that's a decent result... I tried to place my mouse a little bit closer, but then the focus couldn't handle it anymore.

Any idea if this behavior can be tweaked? What's the point of a 2-stage shutter key if the focus doesn't work as intended?

Unless most of your shots are macro i'm pretty sure it works.
I think you can use "macro" setting when you take a close up photo.
I never use auto. Always select area and focus manually. Sooo much better

We have not bad processor and video graphics for recording video,
Other brands with lowest video graphics and processor recordings video good in low light, but our XM or XMD very bad.
You think its camera problem?
Well, I don't think so. For unknown reasons, in low light the FPS decreases (with enough ambient light the FPS stay at 30). There must be a way to force FPS be constant 30 FPS even in low light somewhere, either in kernel or by decompiling camera app, I just don't know where (and how)...
