I was curious as to how to go about porting an app from a different device. I long ago had the galaxy email 2.2 app port and wish to have the galaxy tab email again. I am really interested in knowing how to port the email app myself so I can have a better understanding of porting apps. So basically can anyone point me in the direction to start this process? Thanks..

I did a quick search for this and didn't find what I was looking for, so here is hoping somebody out there can help.
I am running stock HTC Sense on my EVO, and it is my understanding that the HTC email app can't run two exchange accounts simultaneously but the Google-created email app can.
Can anyone confirm this, or provide me with the download to the stock 2.2 mail app?
Someone pulled it from their Nexus One over on [AndroidForums].
Thanks so much!
Hello together,
i have searched an email app, that can handle two different exchange accounts, and that can move emails to spezific folders. I have not found any 3rd party app that can handle both functions together.
And then: I have got the first Samsung Galaxy S2 into my fingers, and the Samsung Email app can handle this.
Is there a way to port this app to other Android devices? Im using HTC HD2 with Android 2.3.5...
I've come from owning an EVO 3D and the email client on that phone was second to none it did exactly what i needed out of an email client.
I've tried every single email client out there and notthing comes close to it besides the stock email client on JB but even that is lack luster if terms of features.
K-9 - won't work with exchange 2010
EE - works great to a point but with Push email on my phone heats up and drains my battery in like 5 hours, and i need instant email.
TD - Won't allow me to use 2 profiles at the same time.
Anything else i've tried doesn't have the features i need like the HTC client did.
Porting the email client over i realize is probably not gonna happen so.....I really like the nexus but I'm not sure what i can use.
Bit of an email background how i use it.
2 Exchange accounts, both have multipul folders i need synced and seen in the combined view area. 7 folder on one and 2 on the other.
I also have a support email i send from and when replying to an email need to select that email account to send from. (just used for sending email doen't come to this mailbox it comes to my main one.)
WHAT TO DO!!!!!
i absolutely love touchdown for my work exchange email, lets me sync specific folders and i can use push or set my refesh times as well as it has a nice widget for showing my next upcoming meeting and what meeting room it is in.
nvm, just saw u said td didnt work for what you wanted >.<
Have you tried maildroid? I don't know if it will do what you want, but it's worth a shot!
Yeah tried mail droid also. That didn't do what I wanted either.

For sure you looked in all the settings? I find it hard to believe that not one of those programs can do what the stock HTC app can.
I've looked in all settings in all programs. EE was the closest to what i wanted but couldn't bare with the battery drain.
I've been at this for 2 weeks. Installed every email app out there. And I did have an X10 a bit ago. But I did use TD then but only had 1 exchange email, now I have 2.

It's been a couple months of searching and barring with the stock asop email client.
I am now at the point of asking for the help of a dev to please help me and port the HTC email client to be used on asop.
There has to be some way of doing so... So that the sense framework will not be needed.
any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

any ideas on this? Just got the Nexus 7 2013 and can totally understand your pain. What app do you use? Or is there a way of rooting the Nexus and putting a sense rom on it?

I've come to the conclusion we most likely won't get anywhere with with trying to port an app over. But the closest I've gotten to the HTC email is Enhanced Email.
I've also contributed some suggestions there to help make it as close to HTC email as it will be. Good Dev there too. Making good progress on updating the app.
Hi all,
I've been looking for a clear answer(s) all over and haven't had any luck. I hope one of you can help!
1. What is the difference between the "red envelope" stock email app and the "yellow envelope" stock email app?
2. Is the stock email app on the Galaxy S3 a Samsung app and not the stock Android app?
3. Is that the difference between the red and yellow envelopes? Red=Samsung; Yellow=Android?
It's been really frustrating to sort this all out, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

There were a couple of other questions, too...
Thanks again!

To help answer your questions:
There are 2 'stock' email apps if I remember correctly. One should be the android Email application which is capable of POP, IMAP and Exchange and the other should be the Samsung one. (I'm not entirely sure, I'm no longer on stock touchwiz 4.3)
If you longpress on the app and go to application info, you should be able to decipher by the package name whether it is Google or Samsung's app because their package info should be different.

Hi guys!
I was wondering if you could help me out with chat apps!
Currently Im using Photo4tune on my Galaxy S III because someone told me that the privacy settings of the other chat apps like Whatsapp and Line are compromised. Has anyone used Photo4tune before? Any idea as to if it is any better with this app? I love the following features of this app though:
1. Fire messaging
2. Self destruct pics
3. Cool funky and free emoticons
4. No subscription fee
I would like to know if anyone has used this app? And also what other chat apps would you suggest? Eve though I'm quite happy with the app I just want to make sure privacy while sharing isn't compromised!
