If you think your phone isn't connecting to Odin because of a physical problem (as in, you didn't do something to the phone to mess it up by flashing), take a look at this thread and see if it may help you!

No. But there are ROMs you can flash that are very close to stock. Search for ReRFS ROM in development.

Nope. ONLY way (unless someone can prove me, and the "higher ups" wrong) to change your modem is odin or wait for an official release.

Yup that's what I thought...
And if I had a backup that was from a ec05 modem and I restored it would it change the baseband version for me?
Just posted in your other post...but no. Modems are an entirely different beast then roms or kernels

well thanks
and its cuz im having a problem and its really driving me crazy i cant get my phone to connect to my computer ive tried everything possible even bought a new usb but still no
now im up to the last two reasons which r either something in my phone is broken or the first reason i think its not working was cuz of eh17 i first encountered this problem when i flashed the eh17 modem thru odin
Like an IDIOT I accidentally Odin'd the international (GT-i9100) bootloader over the stock/rooted FH13. The phone works but in download mode Odin does not recognize. I've tried everything I could read others have tried (drivers, etc) but no joy. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I out of the Odin business permanently?
Thanks.
I remember hearing of someone else doing this before as well and I think I remember the only thing they could do was send it off to have the flash reprogrammed via jtag. My suggestion is find a rom you like. Flash it and stay put. Can't risk a soft brick.

If I recall correctly times_infinity posted how to flash the bootloader using adb / terminal, but don't quote me on that.

Yeah I can't remember who it was but there is definitely a thread on it.

Doesn't the international boot loader make the USB port on our phone not work anymore? Which is why when you go to Odin mode, a computer won't recognize it? That's what I remember

Ya there was a guy who did this a day or two ago, he sent it for JTAG, no USB after the flash so JTAG is your only option afik

Sorry didn't read your op thoroughly, interesting situation.... I'll keep an eye out for info, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some adb magic you could pull to fix it since it still boots...

Even if usb wasn't working you should be able to copy the bootloader into the phone and run a terminal emulator to run the command from the phone. But there is a how to specifically for this issue somewhere.

That post might have it with the instructions. I don't know for sure what it says. But you can grab an Odin tar and extract the bootloader out of it.

I'd love to but have no idea how to. Remember I'm the idiot that installed the wrong bootloader! I was even able to restore my nandroid but that didn't change the bootloader version.
I am trying to do this from the phone or I would be more help. Search our forum for sgs2 bootloader or flashed wrong bootloader or something and see if you can find the thread on this issue.

Ok try this. If your computer can see the phone booted up there its no reason why download shouldn't see it. Uninstall your drivers. Download the drivers from Samsung again. Install them. Put your phone in download mode. Connect to pc. Let drivers get loaded completely. Unplug phone from pc. Plug phone back to pc. Open Odin. See if it gives you a com port. Report back the result.

Thanks. I've tried this but when I'm in download mode my phone is not recognized at all (by neither the computer nor Odin).
I was mistake this was about the kernel, not the boot loader. Regardless here's the link

Then you might be out of luck. I am not sure you can fix it without Odin. Here is a bootloader if you get Odin working. If you didn't try all of the steps I posted please do it again. Also switch cables even though it works for other functions.

Thanks. Yes, I found that. I've been reading about this all day and I think I can safely say that I am not going to be able to undo this without sending my phone for the Jtag. Luckily My phone still operates normally, I just won't be able to flash anything by Odin and when my phone boots it says it's a GT-i9100. I did find a good thread about this for anyone else in the same boat:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816931&highlight=wrong+bootloader
In the end, this is what I get for getting careless. Totally my fault.
Wouldn't flashing the whole thing with Mobile ODIN work?
I mean a whole .tar ROM

What flavor of windows are you using? Does Windows recognize it? I have Win 7 and had to re-install Kies, updated it, and then ran as administrator in Win XP sp3 compatibility mode. Also, some have found hooking up the phone first, then opening Kies finds the phone, (Windows should see it first then ask what you want to do- click view files/folders and then minimize those windows). Just updated my GF's phone last night doing the above. Also, at certain points Kies may drop the phone, but reconnects and installs. Hope this helps.

Man, ive used odin a couple of times without any problem. I rooted and flashed su on 4.0.4 and then updated to stock jb and rooted using odin. What I meant by rooting is flashing a custom recovery. Yes, after all that I still flashed custom roms, lol, and yes, im now running a modified stock rom thanks to rushing who mixed the best mods and I just forget about tweaking and flashing many zips. Mobile hotspot working stock, priceless.

My phone will not connect to my computer, it will only charge. (its not the cable because i was able to use the same cable with my old phone and it works fine). I was able to restore to my original stock rom with cwm and unroot but cwm is still installed and flash counter is at 1. is there any way to remove cwm and reset flash counter without a working usb port on the phone. btw i have the best buy 9.99 a month insurance thing, would they care or even notice these things?

My Rogers galaxy s3 does not connect to my computer. It was rooted when I got the phone and I was only able to connect it to a pc once when I unrooted it. I forget how I managed to do this. Now I'm wanting to root my phone again but since I can't connect it to my pc I'm not sure what to do. I've tried using many different versions of framaroot and I've tried using poot but nothing seems to work

What happens when you connect your phone to the computer? Is it recognized at all by the computer but doesn't fully install or it is not recognized at all? If it is recognized but does not work, you may try installing the drivers on your PC. Installing Samsung Kies would be one way of doing this as Kies has all the drivers you need. Also check the USB cable you are using to be sure it's of good quality. I'd be hard pressed to understand how rooting or unrooting alone could affect recognition by your computer. To return your phone to stock-no-root, however, you'd need to download and flash the stock ROM, bootloader, modem and kernel zips via custom recovery (e.g. TWRP, CWM). You may search the threads for specific instructions on how to do this with the Canadian models.
It isn't recognized at all. I've tried multiple chords and different sub ports. It's unrooted right now, I want to root it.

Also check your phone's settings under Development mode to be sure USB debugging is enabled. If your aim is to root, you could, in principle, use another device like another phone, camera or micro SD adaptor, to copy the rooting files (Super SU zip) to an SD card and bring this to your phone. However, unless you already have custom recovery installed, you'll need to flash this via Odin which requires a computer. I
I had usb debugging on. This is really starting to seem hopeless.
