Rebooting in Recovery Mode - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have several apps that should allow me to reboot in recovery mode like, Android Overclock, App Manager Pro and ROM Manager. But every time I select to boot my device into Recovery mode within those apps, it just boots up normally. How can I boot my device into Recovery Mode?
EDIT: NM, I was able to flash DooMLoRD's update.zip for his v07 Kernel through ROM Manager.

how did u do that i got rom manager how did u flash update.zip?

ClockwordMod, ROM Manager and Recovery

So i'm having a few issues with ClockwordMod and/or ROM Manager
from within ROM Manager when I hit flash clockworkmod it'll download and give me confirmation of success, but I can't seem to launch it - is it supposed to automatically launch after I enter recovery mode? Was it supposed to change any menu entries after I hit volume up+power?
I ended up downloading clockwordmod as update.zip and running it from sdcard:update.zip
Additionally, Reboot into Recovery from ROM manager doesn't do anything. It asks if i'm sure, I say yes, then nothing happens. QuickBoot however has no problems rebooting straight into the recovery menu though, and I can also do it from ADB. Am I missing something obvious?

Click to collapse
Flashing clockworkmod as an update.zip will do no changes to your current recovery.
If you want to replace your current phone's recovery with clockworkmod simply search for unrevoked on these forums.
I have the same problem, it is a bug with ROM manager, you have to give the app superuser permissions before clicking any of the options, so if you were to do this then on your first install of the app click on flash recovery (even if you have it), it will ask for superuser permissions, grant them it and the app will then work fine.
ahh it'd be good if it told you that
next I went into it and went to install superuser but of course you need to have superuser to do that :|
But i'm there now, thanks for your help

[Q] Flashing TWRP 2.6 via Odin

Hi folks,
AT&T Galaxy S3 4.1.2 stock no root, trying to flash TWRP 2.6 to my phone. Using ODIN, phone in download mode, flashed the .tar file via the PDA option, all succesful, but when I try to boot into recovery via Power/Volume Up/Home, I see it say "Recovery Booting" and then it just proceeds to boot normally without going into recovery. Any ideas?

Root your phone
Download Goo manager from market/play store
Open goo manager
Grant superuser access
Press menu button on phone
Select "install open script recovery"
Confirm yes a couple times
Should now have twrp recovery

Device bricked? No adb-access

Hello!
My Oppo Find 7 (international) seems to be bricked.
I'm on stock ROM COS 1.2.5 with stock recovery 1.0
After booting it stuck in the Setup-Wizzard with "settings has stopped"-Loop.
Unfortunately in stock-ROMs the USB-debugging is disabled, so i can't acces via adb fastboot to flash other recoverys.
And cause of the loop i can not enable USB-debugging...
The recovery (stock 1.0) let me only flash 1.2.5, no other ROMs work.
Things that work:
- entering fastboot (but no access via adb as i wrote)
- entering recovery and execute "zip from sd" (while sd means only internal sd here)
- normal boot to the f****** Setup-Assistant, enter PIN. At slect Language the "setting has stopped"-loop starts
- while the device is in loop, i can access the internal and external SD-card via PC, copy and delete files works
Please, has anybody an idea what to do ?
Thanks to all
Marco
Since you can get into fastboot, download a custom recovery, go to fastboot, type
fastboot flash recovery x
Replacing x with the full name and extension of the file, and install a ROM. Alternatively, if you want ColorOS, try downloading 1.2.4i, and installing it through the stock recovery. Then you can update from there
Hmmmm....
Positive! At this moment i learned that USB-debugging is needed for adb-access on a booted device, not for fastboot-access
Yes, i could flash TWRP via fastboot (puuhh, not bricked)
THANKS !!
Now i can mess around the "settings has closed"-Loop, wich is still in place.
(No wiping fixes the problem, even 1.2.1 nor 1.2.3 or whatever)
But i'm on the road again and can check out fixes.
Thanks again!!
That's weird. Did you ever install custom ROMs before having this issue?
Did you try formatting System in TWRP? But be careful, when you format System you have to install stock Color OS BEFORE rebooting your device. That means stay in TWRP after you format and install the ROM, then reboot.

Xperia c

I need to upgrade my supersu binary normal mode s failed I don't have twrp or cwm recovery mode I tried to install cwm recovery mode bt it jst rebooted to normal mode.i have the update zip file I dont how to flash it recovery mod also not working plse help me.....

recovery dont still

the recovery is gone after i flash it from pc why that if i want to open it i should go to pc and flash it again
After boot to TWRP recovery for the first time, you need to flash no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip from twrp itself. You need flash that zip after any system modification you do. Else whatever mod you do will lost.
