I couldn't make a phone call today... The phone showed 5 bars but no matter how many times I tried or how long I waited, my phone would not dial a number that I regularly call... I rebooted the phone and tried again and it dialed immediately. I have never seen the "NO" symbol (circle with a line through it) on my phone but I have had this happen a few times.
I wasn't roaming... I was actually traveling along the freeway and signal strength was quite good.
Yes that is part of it as well. That's the hidden LOS.

Yep, no calls or text messaging, but you have full bars. During my troubleshooting of my phone, I would put the phone into airplane mode and then take it out of airplane mode again. Only after doing that, it would show the "NO" symbol.
And then of course a reboot fixes it.

Anyone else having this problem? My E4GT's network randomly freezes. If I'm on a call and it happens it drops the call but I can't close out and end the call. If I don't notice it has frozen, I just won't get any calls or texts until I reboot. Data over wifi works fine. If it happens and I put it into airplane mode then off again I get the circle slash no network symbol. Nothing works besides a reboot. I'm running a stock kernel and stock rom on a rooted phone. Anyone figure this out yet? I came from an evo to a photon to this and the data speeds were horrendous on this phone compared to the other 2. With this issue the phone is almost unusable. I did an SCRTN reset on the phone and that took care of the data speeds. If I can get this resolved the phone will be great. Thanks.

Having issues re-connecting to ATT when I loose signal wether its from being in an area with no connection and/or being conmected to WiFi for extended period of time. I will still get emails but no incoming or outgoing calls and messages. The only way to reconnect to ATT is to turn phone off/on.

Your not alone. I have been having this issue the last few days. Just yesterday I had no signal in an area I always have signal. Not sure what is the cause and have gone back to a nandroid I made before doing the XS sound mod as I thought maybe the older version was the issue. Have not seen anything odd yet.
The other day I did have a interesting thing happen. I had sent some pics to a friend and they showed up as sent but she never got them. The next morning I wake up and see a odd icon in the status bar and it told me all the pics had failed. Was very strange.

I had a little problem last night. This has only happened to my device(s) a few times out of flashing probably over 10,000 times (literally). And yes, that makes me a badass.
Anyways,
After flashing a ROM last night I no longer have service. I just have a circle with a slash through it on my status bar. I remember someone giving me a prompt to dial in that activates your phone and makes it restart....then BAM, service restored. I believe it's something like ##........#? Can anyone help me out with this?

You don't need to reactivate when that happens. Sometimes, a simple reboot or re-flashing of the ROM or modem will fix it.
Every now and again, between flashes, your phone is unable to retrieve its IMEI along with some other unique values (don't ask me why--I'm no expert). Happens to everyone as far as I know.

Not sure if it's the rom or modem as I flashed both at the same time. But I'm running a fresh wipe of cleanrom 1.5 and a radomly I loose service a lot I can look at the phone and it will randomly have no service for ablut. A min and then come back. This never happened before. When I flashed for the first few days I was at my house which I have a microcell and I even exspanced the issue there as well

This is also happening to me. The first few days was fine, but last night my service would just randomly drop off for a min and then come right back. I am running Jelly Beer Rom v3.57.

This is also happening to me. I am not even rooted and never had my note 2 rooted, still completely stock. when i was using my captivate everything was fine, On my note my phone will be sitting next to me and it will show like 3 to 4 bars and someone will try calling me and the phone will not ring. I had my wife call me like 12 times in a row and the phone didn't ring once. On her end it would ring and ring then go to voice mail which is odd because usually when you don't have service it will like ring once and then go to voice mail. I have a lot of people telling me they called me but my phone never rings or shows a missed call when this problem is happening. This happens randomly and i don't know what triggers it. I was about to root few months back and then these issues started popping up so i decided to hold off. Problems like the screen rotation always sticks and i will have to restart the phone every other day just so the apps will rotate properly and other little things that.

Thats something completely different from what im having..
so pretty much im laying down talking on the phone and during the call all of a sudden the other person cant hear me, i can hear them but they cant hear me. so at first i thought its the signal, but i have full bars. then i turned off the option where if you place your phone facing down that itll mute, but the problem continues. so today i noticed that when that happens, i leave the phone where it is, press the speaker option and it works! so it isnt the signal! can any body tell me if its a setting im missing or is it something i should take it back to the att store?
are you sure the screen is shutting off? perhaps your cheek is hitting the mute/unmute icon (speaker icon)?
Ive had this exact problem for the last year with my s4. Always assumed it was something with the gyro inside. Its really annoying

I faced the same problem once, last week. But I just ignored it, imagining it would be something to do with bad network. I should try to simulate the issue again and see if it's persistent..
Maybe try turning off the motion options in the settings? I turned those off right when I got the phone and I haven't had this issue.

To be honest ive wondered that myself, but even tho i havent checked, last night when it occurredto me to try and press the speaker button to see if it will work (which it did) it did not have the mute button pressed... so because of last night, id have to go with no, it isnt pressed and the screen is black

No, loke i said... that feature was turned on then i turned it off having the same effect
So anyone know a fix or know if i should take it to att for a replacement ?
issue I'm having is odd...I think it correlates to Bluetooth, but still working with advanced tech support. when I change towers, whether I receive or make a call, the phone drops all connection and says "out of service area". then comes right back. seems better without Bluetooth, but still happens. tech has no answers yet. already replaced sim twice and registered phone several times.
EDIT: I turned on the UTMS HD Voice using the hidden diagnostic menu and after 5 test calls today, no drops. Not sure if it is coincidence or something else...
Experiencing call issues too

I've also been experiencing similar issues, 2 issues in particular
1. During a call, I suddenly can't hear the other person or they suddenly can't hear me and I have to end the call and call back
2. I attempt to place a call, it rings and then when the other party picks up I hear nothing, they hear nothing. I sometimes have to call twice or three times before there's a successful call and I hear them and them hear me.
These issues occur randomly, with and without bluetooth. I've tried factory resetting the phone but the problem has continued.
I purchased my phone from Amazon.

I didn't notice any sound difference when setting the UTMS HD Voice to "enabled". Did you see the two options for "enable/disable"?

Yea I found them last night, I'd missed them somehow before. I have it enabled but haven't noticed anything as far as being more clear or a specific icon on the screen. I remember having seen another thread on this, maybe it was in the Verizon forum, that stated the UTMS was not even the right network option to enable the HD though? Does anybody know for sure?
