Alright guys, so I bought a Wildfire S for Virgin Mobile USA today. I love the phone most things considered, though I'm really looking to get rid of Sense and debloat. I know there are a ton of different Wildfire S around the world, so I didn't know if rooting and flashing tons is the same all around. Anyone care to guide me along or at least help start me off? Thanks guys.

None of them work properly on the cdma WFS(Virgin Mobile), all of the custom roms here where developed for gsm WFS.

Normal setup didn't really tweak anything. Put everything on tablet optimized. The icon setup is the folder look by default. Just changed the wallpaper to go with the soft keys. Gonna play with it some more later on. I like the way it looks right now.

Look for Complete Linux Installer in the market. I used it to get ubuntu running on my ns4g and kindle fire. I showed it to my linux professor last year and he was amazed. I don't see any reason why it won't work on our gs3's, I should try it again myself. Really simple to do actually as all the instructions are there for you.

Would Ubuntu completely replace the Android OS or can you dual-boot it so that you can run Ubuntu while docked via MHL onto a monitor or laptop? When I say dual-boot, I'm referring to something like this:

Think you need stock, but could be wrong (my GNex is rooted on 4.2.1 and it works fine). It runs on ALL versions of Android from 2.2 (FroYo) onwards...just go look on the Play Store for more information as opposed to asking silly questions on here. And it's for UK-only, so you all know

Anyway i can tether w/o root on stock jb?
and if not how do i do it w/o installing a custom rom?
Don't think its possible without root. This is the quickest and easiest way to do it tho. To get root head here and download the zip.
http://download.chainfire.eu/233/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-d2spr-d2spr-sphl710.zip
Once downloaded, extract to desktop. Put phone in download mode and plug in. Go to where you extracted that and open odin (building block icon).
Load the cf-autoroot-l710.tar.md5(name may differ slightly) into PDA slot and hit start. This will take all of about 1 min. When you boot back up head here for the wifi tether apk...
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390208427046731813
Install and run. You should not have to change any settings in it. That Should be it

WiFi was working just fine. The camera looks exactly the same as 4.3 to me. I didn't do a whole lot of testing because I needed to get my service back, so I'm currently LGNPSTing back to stock. Feel free to try it if you like, but you'll have to LGNPST to get your service back. And if it bricks your device you can't blame me.
I'll just be patient and wait for a Sprint release or go get a Nexus 5... Haven't decided yet.
