I used it and it worked for me. As long as you are familiar with odin it should be pretty simple. Good luck

Edit: Ok, it just failed to install. That's lightly disappointing, but oh well.
Ok lol thanks. I did this once with telenav replacing sprint nav, but I wasn't worried about that.

You might be able to push it with adb without root access

I think you have to wait for a new root method I'm pretty sure.

You do. There isn't a method yet to Root the new version.
I'm sure there will be soon enough, though
I have a friend with the same problem. 2.3 broke his emulators.
Hope they find a way soon I need root access

You'll be ok. I ran my first Android device totally stock for 4 moths before I discovered rooting.
I doubt it will be too long

Going to be getting the Epic 4G Touch in a week or so and I have a problem. My laptop crapped out 2,000 miles from my home. Is there a way to root the phone with out pc access?

You might be able to do it with Mobil Odin but it's always risky downloading big tar files or roms on your phone.
I'd just wait to get to a PC so its done right and safely. I know how it feels man, running rooted stock, its like wanting to get laid but no females are at the party.

Don't u need root permission to use mobile Odin?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Yup, mobile odin can inject root and install the ROM, assuming you already have root. If you don't you need one of the traditional methods.
Nobody better to clarify this than the master of root, sfhub

Rooting while running ics stock

I got the ics update a few weeks back and its ****. I want to root but cant find a definite source/method to root running 4.0.4. Someone have a link??:good:
Rooting isn't going to make it any better, you may want to consider going back to gingerbread.
Gb is stable with good battery life and can even look better than ics with a theme.
Pp.

Bump. A buddy of mine would like me to root his phone, but I havent been able to find any diffinitive answers on rooting ics. My father in law just got this phone as well so I'll probably root his too.

From a ns4g to s2

I've been around for a bit from the tmo dash to the touch pro to the evo and soon to the epic touch. I have a few questions which i hope some of.you can help me with. Does this have the same weak radios and horrible battery of the ns4g? And what's with all these build numbers fh this and that? What would changing the modem do? Is cwm still the most popular recovery? And finally, it has ics on it so will I be able to root?
I have been trying to read but I'm getting confused. I was able to only update the radios, rom and kernel now there are all these options.
Thanks in advance for any useful info

I had to root the evo through adb shell. I was too impatient to wait for a one click solutuon. That was a pain and a process. I've read that the et4g is one click root so I'm happy

Yeah i think the older boot loaders r the same as e4gt but if u have latest bootloader on evo its alot more complicated

Thanks for the replies. From reading I'm gathering that a modem is the same as a radio? And do I have to look at anything before I can just flash away (I mean in terms of being compatible). I hear these are easy to brick also...

Just look for the newest one download the .zip and flash through recovery. It all depends were u live radios r different for every phone a new modem might not work as good as a old one so just download a couple and which works better.

I got this from a friend who is getting an iPhone. He just had his S2 replaced like a month ago so I get a new phone for cheap. Im holding out my upgrade for a quadcore phone. I refuse to go with the LG only because I dont think the developer or factory support will be there. This should make my wait more bearable with my huge leap from NS4g.
I have jelly bean right now with everything working ok (except the massive battery drain) on my NS4G. Anything close to that on this phone? How is the developer support? Im coming from a phone with ok support and maybe like 3 choices that are updated consistantly.
Yes all modems are compatible with any rom and we have cm10 and aokp versions of jellybean. The brick issues are much much less now that we developers have identified the problem and made safe recoveries. Don't flash anything in stock recovery.
