[Q] Application for Contacts?

Hello,
Just wanted to use the Gingerbread custom ROM, which worked the best for me on my phone, however after some time of using HTC Desire with original ROM(Or later from ReflexTSense) I got pretty much used to the PEOPLE application, which links contacts from Facebook and Gmail together, now when I install the Gingerbread ROM, I do really miss this application. Is there somewhere application that does the same thing? Or better, is this application available for Gingerbread somehow? I tried to look, but no luck as of yet.

I'm using Oxygen 2.0 RC7 which I think has the standard Gingerbread contacts app. There is a way to link accounts but it is not as obvious... Here's how when viewing a contact...
Menu > Edit Contact > Menu > Join

Doesnt work, Installed REDUX ROM (RC6) go to contacts, hit menu button, and then theres button 'accounts' so I click that and then I have two accounts, Gmail and Facebook in there, both of them are synced, but Facebook contacts wont shop up in my list

you read his responce wrong. you need to be IN the contacts info, then follow what he said.. Menu > Edit Contact > press Menu Again > and click Join.. this will then bring up your list off all your contacts on your phone.. you can join as many as you like by following the procedure again.
If your problem is that your Facebook contacts arent showing up.. that is a different problem all together.. You need to go into your Accounts and Sync settings, choose your FB account, and check Sync Contacts.. In the FB app, you need to goto Settings, and at the very bottom is Sync Contacts, set it to ALL. Next time your phone sync's it'll add all your contacts and their info, you can then follow the previous instructions to link them.

This was weird, I had done it just as you said earlier as well, and it didnt show up, so I went step by step and followed what you wrote, and kaboom, my contacts are there... brilliant, thank you

And here goes another one, I'd like to sync calendar with facebook birthdays, just like its on sense calendar... any tips?

Unfortunately, that you can't do. You need a seperate app for that.. there are a couple on the market. Alternatively, if you have a yahoo account you can log into that, import everything from fb including birthdays.. then log into google contacts ands import it from yahoo and it will take the bdays
Those are the only ways I've found at least..

[Q] Sync Contacts

Currently when i select a contact in the "People" App, it says they are synced with:
Phone
Phone
Facebook
Facebook For HTC Sense
Firstly, is there anyway to delete the other "Phone" link without having to manually unlinking them?
Secondly, do i need my contacts sync all my contacts with both Facebook & Facebook for HTC Sense to get their facebook display pictures to show up and for facebook widgets to work?
& finally, is there anyway to get all my contacts to sync with google without having to re-add them all to my phone.

You can try contact analyzer which can be found in market. To find duplicate contacts.
For LAST question, you can export all your contact from your people and import them to GOogle, or you can setting up active sync.

I would suggest keeping the facebook for HTC sense sync , I tried not having that and contact pics were all blurry...makes alot of difference when you're getting a call etc.

Nope , you can keep htc sense synced and let normal facebook stay disabled thats what I do now keeps the amount of linked contacts to a minimum.

[Q] Sync FB Contacts After Flashing New Rom..

This has been bugging me since quite sometime..
Everytime i flash a new ROM on my DHD my google syncs all contacts back to my phone but everytime it asks me to sync them with FB.. And i have to manyallu sync the contacts with FB..
Its a real pain when you got over 2000 Contacts..
Is there anyway that i can let them sync automatically? Or any app which backups the contactcs as well as their FB connections..
(I just need the FB Pics synced with my phone contacts)

I have a similar problem. With each ROM flashed I need to re-sync contacts (Facebook, Skype, etc.). I tried exporting contacts (through People app) and later importing them, hoping my initial sync would be recovered. Instead, I get duplicates. Can't Google store these connections in my Gmail account so that sync will only be done once?

Well i hve the same issue there is no work around.. i know of atleast.

Ha ha!! Very true...I kinda miss sense sometimes...but sometimes, its better to be without it,,,after all had been using sense for about 2 yrs... Good to see you around DHD forum as well my friend...

Agreed. I miss sense some times. And all the options. Cookies home tab and max sense for the win lmao. What ROM are you running now?

this happens but for me the FB app usually does it automatically. FB -> Settings -> Contacts Sync -> Sync
you could try installing the htc sense fb app?
However, the FB app doesn't do all of my contacts an I think Google+ pics probably have precedence over FB ones in the default People app, not sure though.

Try facebook sync, free download on Play Store. I used it when I flashed a non-Sense Rom and it worked pretty well. Now I'm back to a Sense Rom so I don't need it anymore.

Oh yea I miss cookies and max sense!! It was fun to tweak and cook them. Using icecold now. Who knows what it will be tomorrow...

I had the issue when flashing incredible, did all the sync stuff and got duplicates and old contacts i'd deleted years ago, so i had to sms everyone to see who was who, very annoying. had quite a few "who is this" messages as old numbers were reused for new customers.

[Q] Facebook Contacts are not syncing up

Hi Guys,
I my facebook contacts are not syncing up with the phone contacts in HTC DHD (2.3.3). I have tried manything , but nothing really worked.. Only thing i could do is to delete and re-add the facebook for HTC sense application everytime to sync the contacts...Any permanent fix will be highly appreciated

Go into settings then accounts and sync. Make sure under the facebook section sync contacts is toggled.
I'm guessing you have tried this but maybe not.

This has been a known issue in DHD since Sense 2.1 update and others in forum have reported the same issue. The only solution is to remove the Facebook for HTC Sense account from Settings>Accounts & Sync and then add it again and let it sync.

Didnt work... only thing which is working is removing and adding the Facebbok for HTC sync..but it is quite annoying to do it everyday

create a facebook account and change the setting section

Sync Icon doesn't go away

Hey everyone,
Just having a little issue with the Sync Icon on the top not going away / it doesn't finish syncing.
Any ideas for help?
And is there an app to see the sync activities?

I'm using Notes but the sync seems to finish alright.
Its confusing, and i'm sure its something simple

Found out it was Facebook related, seems the live feed hasn't sync'd for a couple days. (Accounts & Sync -> Facebook -> Sync live feed)
And when I try to sync it, it just keeps spinning.
So I guess my initial question is solved

Seems uninstalling FriendStream is causing it and its safe to untick it

Thanks for opening this thread, I had the same issue with my One X.
Seems the DropBox app got stuck sync'ing in my case because I do not use Facebook or FriendStream.
After uninstalling DropBox the sync icon is gone.

I've noticed that Google Photos Sync is quite slow, or maybe it's too much data.

I was having the same issue..
Thanks to a few posts above, I checked Facebook Sync - It seems that was the problem.
Turned it off, as there is no need for it - I dont use any Facebook widgets.
