Now I know this has nothing to do with the epic specifically so I'm sorry if I shouldn't post this here but I seen other posts about ppl asking about what phones they should get so this is similar? Just I don't wanna phone I want a tablet or something. I'm not looking for something really big but even if it was like the 10.1'' tablet that's still an option
I want something I can have fun with and root and mess with that's not a phone I don't want it to b something I pay for monthly but I want it to have wifi
Anyone know any android device similar to that..? That's not too expensive

Well technically 2 ereaders and a webOS tablet. But all can run android and have a dual core chipset making them able to run with the big dogs that cost twice as much. At this time in the day I think I'm going to get the nook 2

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was an app or anything that can allow vivow to run higher end games? Somehow, I am not quite sure though, Plantz vs Zombies is considered i high end game (off of amazon marketplace) and i really want to have it on my dinc2.. also if there is a way, are there any good first person shooter style games or anything?

is there one that works for our phones?
Technically yes. TigerNDS and Nds4droid both will work on our device. But they are slower than a snail. I'm hoping that the GSIII will have a quad core processor so I can see how well the DS emulators runs on quad core.

Its called nds4droid and its no longer on the play store
Maybe the maker moved to another app store Google it and find out

Why are DS emulators so slow though? Isn't this phone better spec'd than a freaking DS?

That's why I've said for this phone.I'm assuming that the emulator hasn't been updated for high end phones

It seems not too many devs are focusing very hard on emulators. I mean, there's a working PSX emulator for crying out loud. But no one can make a working DS emulator? Gimme a break...

When you are emulating something it takes a lot more power to run the software smoothly than the hardware it was meant to run on...rule of thumb I read was generally about 2 to 3 times faster is needed to run it halfway smoothly
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy Nexus CDMA using Tapatalk 2
There is another thread on xda about it and they say
decent emulation takes about 5-10 times the power to emulate.
and ive heard that emulating the DS is extremely difficult .
They also say that day emulation on pc is not very good....fps low

I can second that. Back before Pokemon Black/White came to America, I played Black on a PC emulator. It was great emulation. From what I've read, it's not the emulator itself that makes emulating ds games hard, but it's the game files used for the games that's the issue. Apparently its also very slow on Tegra 3 devices as well.

A problem with a lot of console emulation is it doesn't take well to multi-threading. This is especially true of Nintendo hardware. Hell, Dolphin (Gamecube Emu) needs a Core i7 to run at any decent speed.

I believe you but it's just so preposterous. On a side note, it'd be nice if Samsung would patch the bluetooth in GB so I could use my Wiimote with emulators. With the release of ICS around the corner, I doubt it'll happen though. At least it works on ICS. I wonder why the BT drivers are so different.

I believe this is a port of an NDS (or other handheld) version? I bought just to support development on this platform, I'd really like to see some new, higher end RPG gaming on android. The iOS platform has a lot more development there, which is unfortunate for us.
I agree, the price is pretty egregious for the market... but I'd pay that price if I got 20-40 hours of gameplay out of it.
In response to emulation, I've already played/beat most SNES/PSX RPGs... so it's nice to have new options.
Thanks!! Didn't know this was available on Android ;-)

This is the DS 3D remake. It isn't just the classic rom from the NES. Seeing how the DS version is probably $20, it isn't bad. Great game though with plenty of hours to chew through. $9.99 would seem more appropriate though.

That's because you need the Sony phone PlayStation thingy (forget the name).
And this Final Fantasy 3 is way overpriced. I don't understand why developers do this. Making something so expensive just makes people download it for free instead of paying the developer.

I am selling my iPad that I regret buying. I want something else. I'm between the kindle fire HD 8.9 and the galaxy tab 2 10.1 are there good reasons to get this over the galaxy? I see the specs difference. But I'm still undecided. And help would be appreciated.
Edit: I posted in the wrong thread. I didn't realize this was the first generation.

Gtab2 for sure lots of development, easy to root the HD will be a hassle from beginning to end spend a little more get a little more. I love my first gen. kindle but I`m am unimpressed with amazons second gen devices and locked bootloaders. I love my Gtab2 more than I think I could for Amazons new ways.
no doubt in the word the gtab
it has a great stock interface if you don't want to root it and its easily rootable as well as easy to flash roms etc...
Thanks for the replies.

I just purchased the Fire 8.9 HD, but I did it for my young kids. Kindle Free Time is a terrific program for kids and a dream come true for parents. If you're buying a device for yourself, go with the Samsung. The fire uses a proprietary skin over Android which really hampers the device as an Android tablet. Even so, there are still legitimate reasons to buy the fire.
Cheers...

Just curious what you guys think on how our phone stacks up against the s3? I don't really like how big it is, but is it that far off ? The version if the s3 that is sold where I am is dual core, so is there really a big difference ?
Lol its loads faster. Bigger screen. HD display. 2 gigs of ram. Its a win win all around.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
I had a 4" screen (Lg g2x) and wanted the bigger screen so my only two phones I would have wanted were the sgs2 and 3 because I previously had a captivate and it was great. I still went with the sgs2 because i just found the screen on the 3 too large for one hand use and wasn't worth the extra money to me.
In my honest opinion, Samsung really banged out a powerhouse in the s3. Bigger super amoled plus display, 2 GB ram, a notification light , and best of all TOUCH WIZ UX. This has amazing built in features such as swipe your palm to take a screen shot, to smart stay, where the phone doesn't turn of when you're looking at it. The international version as well has a quad core processor. Hope this answered your question/ helped in any way
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
Its an all around upgrade in every conceivable way. The t989 is no slouch though. The upgrade isn't necessary unless you want to have the latest. If I could sell this phone and add maybe 100-150$ I'd do it.

Lol wut? Where are you getting your info from? The s4, even though its a dual is faster by 20-30%. Cores don't mean anything. Look at the exynos dual core that's about to release.. it puts even the fastest quad cores out to shame.
