Hi, I need help with my SGS2 . I tried to install the miui rom and it was the first time I tried to flash a arom. I just followed the intsurctions on the following link http://androidflip.com/how-to-insta...-3-4-on-samsung-galaxy-s2-step-by-step-guide/
and I tought everything went soomthly but after I rebooted the device first it was like the miui logo on the screen and nothing happened and then I tried to reboot it then my pc did not recognize the phone when I connected it to the pc and then I took the battery off and now when start the damn phone the triangle picture comes and then just black screen nothing happens. I did make a full recovery with the rom manager before and now my question is did I just kill the phone or can I do something?
Pls help me.
There's tons of threads about your problem.
Put it in download mode and install a stock ROM using Odin. That should get you going again.
You should have CWM, so turn phone off, press volup+home+power, goto Mounts&Storage, Mount USB Storage, and connect phone to PC. Copy over whatever ROM you want, then in CWM menu clear data/factory reset, clear cache, goto advanced, clear dalvik cache, goto install zip from sdcard, choose the zip ROM file, and install it. Reboot, and you should be fine.
thank you so much guys, it helped. It is working now. I will not panic like this one next time. Once again thank you very much

Good sir, I'm also new with this rooting and flashing stuff on Android. Would this method always guarantee that the phone firmware will be fixed under any circumstances? (aside from physical damage, of course)

Let me get this straight, so basically what you are saying is:
- Wipe all the ROM data from the phone
- Install a new ROM, since all the previous corrupt ROM data is cleared
But why clear cache and then clear dalvik cache? Just curious with the difference. (Yes, I haven't rooted mine yet, because I'm still learning slowly before plunging)
Oh also, since you mentioned that we should "clear data/factory reset", doesn't that mean the phone is back to the original stock ROM already, which means we have to root it again...?

I really, REALLY have tried going through the threads and tried to figure this out on my own but I'm just stuck. A while back I got stuck in the boot loop (I guess). It was after a few factory resets. It had been rooted. Now, I can get into twrp but once there I can't seem to find any of the files that I need to flash to get it going again. When I launch the KFU it says the device is "online" and device manager reads "Android Composite ADB Interface". I'm sorry if this isn't enough info but can someone give me a push in the right direction? :silly:
Still vague bro but hey you have twrp do you have fff? If you have those things select mount in twrp transfer ROM zip and a gapps zip to your sdcard but don't place them inside a folder... leave them in the open this is considered the root of your sdcard then select unmount go to install see if you can navigate to the files you put on the kindle if so select wipe, wipe factory reset, wipe cache wipe dalvik, wipe system, select install tap on the ROM zip flash it when done use the back button upper right... flash gapps then select reboot and system if prompted let it boot.. I suggest this ROM or a cm7 flavored variety.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778010
fff is the kindle logo with the blue (fire) lettering, right? v1.4a in the upper right corner. Let's me go into normal, recovery and reset boot mode? The only option that let's me make any progress is the recovery option and that loads me into twrp. The "mount" option in twrp gives me 4 choices, mount system, mount data, unmount cache, and unmount sdCard. Mount system and mount data are unchecked. And if I click the "mount usb storage" button it takes me to a screen that says "USB Storage Mounted -- Be sure to safely remove your device from your computer before unmounting!" and there's an "unmount" button underneath. That's all I'm seeing. I'm not trying to be vague. I just don't know what specifically is the relevant info to give. But thanks for helping out those who can't help themselves
Ok plug to your computer select mount make sure there are no checks in the boxes of data and system then hit the big button this will mount your sdcard transfer zips select unmount follow my instructions above...
hey man, it worked!:victory: But I'm sure you knew it would. So, is it a bad idea or is it even possible at this point to revert to the factory reset? You know, have it be totally stock? And is it just tricky or dangerous to do factory resets a few times? I like using just the stock kindle version. The kindle app is just a little funky. Or it was the last time I used it. But obviously I love the google suite. I hadn't made a back-up the last time because it was just as easy to download a few of the things at a time from the cloud. So, making a back up would be a good habit and help in a situation like this? Do you know of any good threads re: backups? And superuser is something I don't know anything about but how does it work and where should I learn more about that? Mega MEGA thanks again dude! :highfive:
Yeah if you want the best of both worlds go with rooted stock all the wipes I suggested after backing up first then flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916 the standard version not the altrom thats for dualboot your miles from that
What's the process to get to rooted stock? I just made a back up

just put this on your sdcard wipe every thing but your external storage and flash it http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/dow...gned-MD5-569fe6550cfcfba68dabc3d088324a46.zip your external storage is your sd card you dont wanna wipe that
its nothing but rooted stock with playstore and it wont wipe out your recovery and fff in the process
when installing the modaco custom rom, what boxes do I want to have checked? Zip file sig is checked by default and Force MD5 check on all zips is unchecked. Good?

thanks again for all your help thePooch. I've tried installing the rom a couple of times and it either freezes or I've got the following message.
Writing Data - Writing System - Writing Boot then E:Error in /sdcard/Gr9.2-altrom-update-.....
(Status 0)
*Verifying filesystems...
*verifying partition sizes...
Error flashing zip ‘/sdcard/Gr9.2xxx
do I need to just stay with the cm10 rom at this point? what other kind of fun stuff can I do to get this working:fingers-crossed:
I believe Thepooch told you earlier NOT to download the altrom. Check your download and try again.
no doubt. Funny how this stuff works the way that it's supposed to

Thanks soupmagnet yes the altrom version will fail everytime because it needs extra partitions to work which do not and very likely will not ever exist on your device.... Intructions well it helps if they are read I gave very clear ones and I definatly said not to use the altrom........
ありがとうございました。 I think I'm done.

After flashing AOKP build 6 and the gapps package, everything was running fine until the phone randomly shut down and rebooted.
After turning back on the boot animation continued, figured I'd wait it out and it still continued and after several minutes and pulling the battery I tried holding down the Volume Down and Power Button but the image says it's downloading please don't turn off this item. After waiting and waiting the phone shuts off and starts the reboot and the boot animation continues again.
This has never happened before and not sure exactly how to get the phone running again. What should I do?

if you can still get to recovery(power+both volume keys, then select recovery mode with volume keys, click power to confirm), try wiping cache and dalvik cache and reflashing JUST your rom, if it boots DONT flash the same gapps package, download a new one: http://tinyw.in/C7XP
I was able to open recovery
1. advanced
2. wipe dalvik cache
3. install zip
4. reboot
it's still running just the animation at this point. I have the same gapps package, didn't flash it, just the rom and it's still not loading. I have a feeling it was the wiping cache and dalvik cache part, is there a step I'm missing?
Wipe?
I looked at another forum, I'm guessing this is what I'm suppose to do for a full wipe?
Volume up, power button, and home button all pressed together for a couple of seconds.
Wipe the cache partition
Go to Advanced and wipe the dalvik and batt stats
Go to mounts and storage and select it.
Go to format / system and select it.
Scroll down to format system and select yes.
Go to format / data and select it
Scroll down to format data and select yes.
Go to format / cache and select it.
Scroll down to format cache and select yes.
Now go back and install the rom from the internal or external sd card.
If I do this and it still doesn't work, will I have to worry some more?
If you wipe data you will no longer have any sdcard contents. Then you come crying back here and want to know how to fix that. The easy solution here? Boot to your custom recovery and do 'factory reset'

And wiping battery stats, cache, dalvik... Is a myth.

Hey guys..
May need some help here as I've currently soft bricked my mum's device while trying to update to CM11 (2014-01-05: CM-11.0 20140105-UNOFFICIAL) from CM10 (2013-10-23: CM10 Final Release) for i8150 Samsung Galaxy Wonder. Below are the details how did I bricked it, what I've done and etc. Hope some one could help me.
What have I done to soft bricked it
Tried to update to CM11 from CM10 while still using CWM 6.0.1.2. Flashed CWM 6.0.4.5-ancora after that using ODIN but stuck at bootloop no matter what I do.
View attachment 2495891
What I've done trying to unbricked it
1. Reflashing back to stock rom (ODIN shows FAILED for some reason)
2. Reflashing between CM10 & CM11 (installing gapps for each version as well)
3. Installing different ROM version.
4. Taking the battery out for 1 whole night
5. Wiping delvick, restore factory settings / wupe user data, format data, format cache, format system, wipe cache partition
The situation now
Able to go into recovery & download mode, all buttons working
Not sure if this helps but when I try to charge the phone, the battery will show as below without any charging status. After 2 minutes the phone will be powered on automatically.

Appreciate if someone could look into this for me as I feel really bad bricking my mum's phone leaving her phoneless to work.
Hello
I had the same problem, I reinstalled the Caribe; odin by the previous CWM, my back was v6.0.2.3 and installing the previous ROM and it worked!

Also, if you want to install new ROM, do this step :
Go to CWM
select "wipe data / factory reset"
go to "mounts & storage" and select "format /system". This is extremely important!!
under the same menu, format /sdcard0 (be careful NOT to format /sdcard1 by mistake)
install the ROM (from the external sd)
install Gapps (from the external sd)
reboot your phone

The important thing with the situation like this is to stay calm first Happens to me once b4, bootloop after reboot by deleting one .apk file and when i flashed stock ROM (5x i think) , i got stuck at samsung logo. Download mode only shoes the icon, no menu's and restarts after a few seconds. What I did, flash CWM 6.0.4.5 via odin. After that, reboot to CWM and did the following: credit to @arsradu

UPDATE: completed reflashing to stock rom already. But currently no usb ports can detect the phone. Real headache lol~
Could be as simple as trying a different USB cable....they DO wear out / become loose over time. Very common problem over on the S2 forum, and both phones have the same connector.......
This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM

Thanks for your reply. Yes all disabled, luckily I managed to find an old laptop running on Win7 and successfully rolled back to Touchwiz.
Now the phone boots normally but I could not re-flash it to CM10.1 any more, it will get stuck at the bootlop again. :crying:
Today i decided to download a new rom, something i ain't done in a long time, so everything went well, got the rom and kernal installed on my external.
I then went and wiped everything on the phone but went a bit to far and decided to go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache, cache, system, data, internal storage and external SDcard. so after this was done, i went into the SD card to install the new rom, but nothing is there, the entire folder is clear.
so now when i try to turn my phone off, i get a message come up saying 'no OS installed! are you sure you wish to reboot.
When i connect my phone to my computer so that i can transfer over the files again, my phone aint coming up anymore.
what can i do?
i prey someone knows a way around this.

Well, those actions did not delete the recovery you flashed so you should be able to enter it. If yes you can:
A) take the sdcard out and copy the data to it on your PC (home/work/friend/cafe?)
B) connect the phone to PC using USB cable:
- on PC start Command Prompt (cmd.exe)
- navigate to the directory where you have the new ROM stored
- enter "adb sideload ROM_filename"
- while at the same time in your recovery enter flashing menu and select Sideload
- you will be able to flash rom
C) enter "Download Mode" (power+home+vol_down) also called Odin Download Mode and use PC Odin to flash some recovery - search for Philz custom recovery, he has versions named something.md5 that are usable to Odin.

Guys
really need some help here. Stupidly i decided i wanted to try my hand at installing clean rom,.
Firstly -
1. i rooted the device, and then used titanium backup to freeze some knox apps.
2. I didnt bother to put the stock recovery back on as i wanted to install clean ROM.
3. I followed the instructions i found on here to a tee - as below. They all worked perfectly.
4. I went through the install screens on CLEAN ROM - that all worked fine.
5. It ended with a screen back to TWRP and i hit reboot.
6. Not the device just gets stuck at the glowing samsung logo.
7. I can get back into TWRP but i have no idea what to do next. I have tried rebooting from TWRP, both system and power, but no luck. The device powers down, and comes back up but remains stuck on the glowing samsung logo.
What can i do?
these were the instructions i followed. Any help much appreciated, and i will chuck a couple of quid towards someone that can help.
3.
Download latest CleanRom and copy it to your SD-Card
4. ODIN
- Run Odin as administrator
- untick -Auto Reboot-
- Click -PDA- (in latest version it's -AP-) and choose your TWRP version
- Now turn off your device and restart it by holding down Power+Volume Down. Proceed with Volume Up to enter DownloadMode
- now connect your device to your PC using USB
- Device drivers should get installed if not already done
- check the Message box in Odin. There should be an "Added!!"
- There should be nothing checked but F. Reset Time
- Press -Start-
- when finished there should be a "RES OK !!" in the Message box
- TRWP is now flashed to your device
4.1.
Now restart your device manually by holding down Power+Volume Up. As soon as you see the Samsung Logo, wait a second and release the Powerbutton but keep holding Volume Up until TWRP is loaded.
5. TWRP
In TRWP
- click Wipe
- advanced wipe and check:
Dalvik, Cache, Data, Internal Storage (should be enough), System
- do NOT tick external SD. You don't want to get it wiped.
- Swipe to Wipe
Now back to Mainmenu
- click Install
- choose your desired ROM
- Swipe to Confirm Flash
- Follow Rom's Installshield and you should be good
Have fun and good luck
If you can get back to TWRP, then wipe data , cache & dalvik, then re-flash clean rom again.
If problem still persists then flash a stock rom via odin.
still no joy
I can wipe cache, system, data, but when i try to include dalvik cache i get a "Failed". the message in the screen says E: unable to mount '/cache

You shouldn`t wipe system . data , cache & dalvik was the requested options.
Now since you wiped system, your only choice is to download a stock firmware from sammobile, enter download mode power+volume down , then volume up, & flash via odin .

Hi thanks all – i think the problem was the boot loop issue. I wiped cache, dalvik cache, system, and data, one by one, and then reinstalled clean rom and it seemed to push it through. Thanks for the support though!
Almost, if it powers on and you're even getting in to recovery, bricked is not the proper term.
Bricked = no power, dead beyond repair.
All you had was a software issue.
and if twrp does not find sd card ?
then what ?..
