SuperNova Internal Memory Problem [Q] - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I tried searching everewhere but couldn't find problem exactly like mine. I installed SuperNova for my Desire phone and everything seemed fine, I created 2 partitions one FAT32 and one EXT4, I done all as they said, and now my phone is showing:
SD Card
Total Space: 10.76GB
Available Space: 9.78GB
Internal Storage
Available Space:
3.66GB
And when I go to Settings->Applications it says, No Applications, 92MB used, 3.7GB free on Internal Storage
But everytime I want to enter messages I got this:
Unable to manage your
messages because your storage
is full. Please delete content
from other applications to make
more space.
Anyone can please help me? Is big problem if I put FAT32 as Primary and EXT4 as Logical partition as I don't remember what was for EXT4. FAT32 is primary 100% !?

Both partitions must be primary and aligned to MB.The First partition must be Fat32 Primary, and the second should be ext4 Primary.
What is the size of ext4 partition? It should not be larger than 2gb when you flash Supernova for first time.
Did you follow this instruction http://supernova.droidzone.in/?cat=6 ?
P.S. Pozdrav

It is 3 gb and it is logical. Is there way to reverse everything on my sd card?

Only option as far as I can see is repartitioning sd card with Gparted or 4Ext Recovery and flashing rom again. Before that backup the content of sd card to PC
Just follow instruction from link in my previous post.
I flashed Supernova few days ago but I had some issues with freezing for second or two and was little slow but I think that problem is in my sd card. Generaly speaking Supernova rom is perfect.

Why don't you just restore your files and re-do it again ?

Repartition ext4 to 1.5GB, and try again.

Droidzone which is the optimal ext4 partition to SD card for stability and performance of Supernova Extreme? 1GB or 1,5GB? Thank you.

How do I tell if I partitioned my SD card right?

I prepared my 8gb SD card (that came with the Desire) to receive LeeDroid's well-loved Froyo ROM, using ROM Manager. I specified 512mb for the EXT and 0mb for the swap. Windows shows 6.92GB free. I understand it can't see the Linux part, but the Quick Info app and HTC sees 6.92gb. Shouldn't they see about 7.5gb? Where did the 512mb go? How can I even check if RM put a 512mb EXT3 partition on the card (oh... I don't do Linux!).
Should I go ahead with the A2SD LeeDroid install or worry some more?
(Btw... my username is for sale. But if anyone wants it to name a ROM they created... I give it for you gratuit ).

An 8GB SD card only really has 7.456GB of usable space
Quick System Info, the phone and Windows all see the FAT partition of the card, so when they report 6.92GB it's accurate
That 512mb missing shows that the ext3 partition was successfully made, it should be reported as 512MB free in the A2SD storage bit in quick system info

Thanks. In A2SD storage in QI it says "Information not available". But could that be because I have not yet installed the LeeDroid ROM, and am still on the original Android 2.1 the phone came with?

Most likely yes, a custom ROM that supports A2SD+ creates symlinks between the internal storage and the sdcard, as these obviously aren't there in the stock Eclair rom then there is no link to the ext3 partition and free space isn't being calculated.

After partitioned my SD card, Quick system info shows me that A2SD storage only have 113MB. I checked with Windows 7 disk manager and see that there is a 488MB linux partition. So where is the rest space? Could any one help me out?
You want something that can read sd-ext like root explorer and that will tell you. A2SD is weird and it depends on how the scripts and stuff are done and installed. Sometimes you can look in storage settings and it will tell you there, sometimes you use an app like Quick System Info, and sometimes it is just useless and won't tell you. If you have an SD card partitioned with a primary FAT32 partition first, then a primary ext3/4 partition second, it will work.

How to create usable ext partition for A2SD ?

Okay this is really driving me crazy. I have a bunch of custom ROMs on my system and none of them recognize the ext3 (or ext4) partitions on my SD card. I know for a fact that all of them support the sd-ext partitions. (Obviously, I am doing this for A2SD usability)
I have MIUI 1.7.1, CM 7.0.3 and HiApk (with sensefun) v1.1.
I tried creating an ext3 partition in the beginning of the SD card like this,
400MB ext3 (primary) | 1.6GB fat32 (primary)
I tried doing it the other way round too, like this ->
1.6GB fat32 (primary) | 400MB ext3 (primary)
Neither works. I am using GParted on my Linuxbox to do this. What is the problem ? and how do I solve it ?
I have read quite a bit on all this and none of it is straightforward. Can someone explain it to me, like a 10year old ?
Go to into recovery and partition your sd card there.

I can show you how... check my signature... there`s two youtube guides.
One with Gparted, and one with Minitools.
Enjoy.
how do you know it is not working?
the EXT doesnt add up storage space in 'internal storage' in android settings
you have to use Quick System Info from android market to check if a2sd+ is working
and also
the correct partition layout is FAT32 and then (after fat) EXT partition not the other way.
also try with 512mb ext partition.
To see the ext partition, you can either connect your phone to linux or use an explorer which has root access.

Thank you people ! Yup, got the partition working. Also, thanks to dzumagos for the tip on how to see the ext partition space.

[Q] Partition SD

Hi guys
I have root my phone and install
clockwork mode recovery 2.5.1.8
&
LeeDroid ROM file named "LeeDrOiD_V2.5.0_A2SD_FINAL.zip"
and all of this work perfect .
then i open rom manger because i want to partition my 8GB sd
after i flash my recovery i select
partition SD (Ext size 512M) & (Swap size 32M) then it go to recovery
and i have this error "please open rom manager to report the issue"
and i re partition sd by rom manger and i have seam error
after this i let Rom Manger behind me and i go to recovery
Advance>partition SD card>2028M>32M .. .. ..
after done i open the system>Sitting>SD&phone storge
SD total space is 6GB 8-2 for partition=6
Total internal phone storage is 186M in "Disk Usage"App
but i but 2GB partition !!!
i but 4GB partition to check ... same proplime 186M
i hear some people seas install "Data2SDInstallerX1" i try it but after i install it
when i turn my phone on its hold in htc logo
now i re install Lee Droid rom and the rom is work, but partition proplime steel here
pls i need help
Hi did you try redo it with gparted? or flash better recovery to setup partitions on your sd card... some rom are not showing all space from ext partition... BTW why you have swap? instruction saying 0 MB for swap
Its working correctly, the 183Mb free space will decrease slowly but it is using the 2Gb ext partition for app storage. Also, you don't need a swap partition. My advice is to start again, either do a backup, repartition your SD card with 1Gb ext and 0 swap and then restore or just do the partitioning and flash the ROM from scratch.

You'd have to have a [custom] hboot that had partition info set up like you wanted [to change system partition information]. Not an easy task. Doubtful it would ever come to fruition. Besides our devices have 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM (418 MB user-available). So allocating that all to system would be unwise. Now SD card partitioning... our device supports up to 32 gigs Those two you mentioned or Darktremor's Apps2sd are great tools for moving your apps or even dalvic vm to your sd card. You can partition your sd as you wish with the unofficial cwm recovery (under advanced options). I will try to port another recovery [4ext] in the future which is great for sd partitioning (data aligns everything; supports ext4). CWM is not too shabby though; give it a whirl. Hope that helps.

I've tried to make sd-ext with Rom Manager -> Make partitions on SD. I've shoose 512Mb (of 16Gb miscroSD) and 32Mb swap file. But still have 178Mb internal memmory.
What is wrong?
I used Minitool Partition Wizard (free) to split my SD 16Gb on Fat32 & ext4 512Mb. Works Fine! Link2SD identify external partirion.
cool
congrats. Just a suggestion... change your OP from [Q] to [Answered] even though you answered your own question. May help someone else.
Rob
data2sd not installing for me after i install i get a boot loop..
you need Apps2sd or Data2sd not both
The rom has Apps2sd... You want Data2sd. You will have to remove apps2sd support, then add data2sd support. Can't have both.

SUPERNOVA Xtreme partition advice

i have an 8gb sandisk class6 sd card and SUPERNOVA Xtreme rom, whats the best partition for the first and second partitions, how big should the fat32 be and the ext4 partition be,i have gparted live cd, and a card reader, im having a problem with gparted it says.. cant write to /dev/sdb, because it is opened read only.
i have moved the little lock switch in both positions and still get the same error.
htc desire g7
not quite sure but i read somewhere the the ext4 partition has to be 2gb hense 2gb internal memory. maybe some1 can confirm this. r you can read Droidzones OP of the rom coz im sure some1 has probably already asked this
Sent from my HTC Desire
AFAIK it has to be ext3/4 with at least 1GB of size.
FAT32 partition should be located on beginning, and ext on the end. No other partitions between... But i also might be wrong.
if its ext3 it will automaticaly be converted to ext4
Sent from my HTC Desire
in the end with gparted, i made a 2gb fat32 and 6gb ext4 seems fine.
thanks for the help
lol shouldnt it be the other way around? 6gb fat 32 and 2gb ext4
Sent from my HTC Desire
I think ext partitions bigger than 1,5GB are not recommended due to stability problems.
On Gparted, have u tried to unmount partition? They need to be unmounted in order to be formatted.
Some devices have issues when an ext4>2GB is used. Anything upto 2GB is fine. Leave the rest to FAT32, but make sure FAT32 is first and ext4 the second. Both should be primary.
