What are the differences between zergrush v1 and v2 couldn't find a write up about it anywhere. I imagine its support for more devices or something. I used v1 to root my arc. Is it worth unrooting and using v2 instead, any benefit?

The very first post on the thread tells ya.
all it says is the latest zergrush binary that doesn't tell me anything.

That's the difference, and you probably haven't found a write up because it doesn't warrant one, the end result is the same.

All the files are up on my github and available for anyone to look on and improve or even continue in case i stop . i know there is already a few toolkits over here but i figured since ive got the galaxy nexus i might as well post mine here since i added gnexus support to my nexus s 4g one almost a year ago.
since the best way to root a nexus device is via flashing recovery and then obtaining root that way rather than using an exploit that doesnt unlock your bootloader, or relying on a pre-rooted kernel which works great assuming no one ever updates ;P. some people have a hard time with rooting the nexus, this isnt a true one click but its designed in teh style (i think you need to have maybe 4-5 actions on your behalf besides pressing enter/space ). so before questions begin, yes it will work on all firmware versions even key lime pie and beyond.. its just the nature of nexus devices

Kudo's for finding a positive.
got my drivers and everything installed. the script runs, opens up the bootloader and asks me to select unlock and press power. . . but there's no unlock option, just reboot bootloader, recovery, reboot and power off. am i doing this right?
I had a huge problem with this script/app.
The undo process run on a Nexus S seems to have tricked my NS into being a NS4G. I really could use help from ANYONE who can, especially OP.

Just want to make sure that this will work on the new gwk74 software version, not sure if the software has anything to do with the rooy, i am going to attempt this sometime this weekend. also if i need to un-root it to get sprint to service it will this do it?
thanks for this, i was iffy about using this on my wifes ns4g on 2.3.7 till i read the comments for the youtube video. it worked like a charm on the first try.

There is not.much to the adb commands. In fact, there is one. Fastboot oem unlock. I know it doesn't answer your question about the link but the way Google provided is really quite simple as well.
Is that the other "one click root" that is up here? The old one or whatever? Caused I tried that and it's not working either.

in short version
you need to have 143 engineering version
you need tools which are attached on the above thread (only work on XP if you dnt have it then you can use XP on VMware)
Use tools to install Cloack work mod tools in short (CWM) and root your phone
when you are done you will have 143 ROOTED
boot in recovery, create backup and you are ready to flash
download your favourite rom from internet and flash it using CWM!
if you get in trouble just restore backup and start again
This tool can be rooted 163 without downgrade.

I can't deal with "I think", you either have or you haven't, from the video link...
The 3-step process is as follows:
- flash 4.1.B.0.587
- flash an insecure (lower build) kernel
- root using the 2011 Xperia ICS Rooting Toolkit
- flash back the 4.1.B.0.587 kernel

There are a lot of reasons as to why rooting is great! Here's a google search
Main benefits include debloating your phone of useless apps that were once not removable, modding your phone with different features, and tweaking your phone to make it faster
good luck!

I'll answer both of your questions here.
For rooting I've always been fond of using Cydia Impactor, installing BusyBox and then using the Mount Reboot Fixer by [NUT].
You can also use the Framaroot Gandalf (I think) exploit, install BusyBox and then use the Mount Reboot fixer.
I suppose towelroot would work, not sure of the procedure for that on 4.1.2.
As for upgrading it is your choice, I get better performance on 4.3. However it does come with bugs what can only be fixed by rooting (you'd either have to use the method by mbc07 or towelroot).
The only two bugs I've come across are the processor heating up (I've managed to get it to 65c-71c) and the theme bug where you cant install them.
It also appears 15.4.A.0.23 is more stable than 15.4.A1.9 from what I've seen.

The tool uses static kernel addresses. To support a device, I need the following information from someone with stock kernel (supported firmware) and root:
Code:
cat /proc/version
su
echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/kptr_restrict
cat /proc/kallsyms > /data/local/tmp/kallsyms
chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/kallsyms
Upload kallsyms and show output of version command.
Currently as in v1 only Z3 Compact and Z3 is supported.

The first vulnerability is an android vulnerability that affects devices under 5.0 which the Note 4 is vulnerable to. Unfortunately this doesn't escalate to root, only system. The second is a kernel vulnerability which I haven't seen anyone confirm or deny the Note 4 has but our kernel version is on the vulnerable list. Based on the date of it I would assume the Note 4 is also vulnerable but it is possible it has already been patched as there is usually a time period between when they are found and when they are made public. So if ours is vulnerable then it is a matter of finding the addresses and make them work for the Note 4 .
