[Q] best kernal, rom for...? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

battery performance
wifi
tethering
i'm currently running egplus-1.1.0.0. tethering is great, but wifi doesn't work.
i'm sure the best kernels and roms are always going to be changing, but i'm wondering if there is a preferred consensus on one or two currently that satisfy the above three needs best. or maybe this threat can be a continual discussion on what kernals and roms are currently best.

Kernels DINC

I'm brand new to the HTC Incredible and I was wondering which kernels should be used. I like stock right now (I've looked through a few ROMs and I don't see anything I like yet) but I do want a kernel with wireless tethering (2.2).

The stock kernel supports wireless tether. If you're rooted just check this out -

As far as ROMs, you're selling yourself short not trying some out. I highly recomend Skyraider, I've tried many and I always end up back here.
I love stock sense 2.2. I use the leaked version.
I have added features which were important to me by studying kernels. I chose hydrakernel undervolted v0.5.
My battery life it's awesome without screwing around with task killers.
Kings kernels sound great too.
I really enjoy virtuous and im about to try his new kernel but i use Kings kernel BFS #5 usually

[Q] Which is the best thread and kernal for tmobile g2?

my current radio is 26.06.02.27_m
my current kernel is 2.6.32.21-cyanogenmod-evil
I'm not really having any problem with the kernel just curious if there is something better out there.
My main concern is the radio. I flashed the radio cause I had problems with losing signal at random times in places I usually had perfect coverage. So if there is a radio out now that is working best for t-mobile usa then I would really appreciate anyone helping me out.
*I meant to put radio in the threat title and not thread. Sorry for the mix up.
Well, what kernel you choose depends on what ROM you're currently using, while the radio is independent. So, which ROM are you using?
I'm using a stock rom right now, but have been kind of wanting to flash a gingerbread rom on the phone lately.
The best functionality vs battery life I have seen was using CM7 with perhoots gingerbread kernel. Of course, you're going to have to use profiles on SetCPU, but you can find several posts with good profiles.

[Q] Best roms and kernels (needs overclock and wireless tethering)?

I rooted my Evo with unrevoked3 and have had a pretty good experience so far. I used stock HTC Sense, then switched to CM7 and tried Fresh and am flashing MIUI.
But, what the heck do I know? What would be a good kernel/ROM combination? I'll go with either Sense or something else, I just want 2 features:
1) speed (I overclock too, using SetCPU)
2) wireless hotspot
I don't really care about 4G that much, I just want something stable and fast.
I understand most of how to do it, but a few words of advice would be nice too I guess.
As far as the wifi hotspot, all roms have this built in. And even if they didnt, Wireless Tether is available for free in the market.
As far as rom/kernal combo, I hate to say it, but just read on here. Nobody can tell you what the best combo for you is. You just need to experiment and try different things until you find one that works.

What he said.
You would need an overclocking kernel. There are a few out there. A popular one is Netarchy's kernels. Check development.
soo many variables when it comes to ROMS and kernels. theres a lot of roms and kernels that speed things up and stuff. it all comes down to your preferences on look, feel, battery etc...
theres sense based roms that are plenty fast and stable IMHO. I use a Mik 4.5 AND 4.6 ROM samples in my Sig.
AOSP and gingerbreads may be a bit faster but not as stable. I KNOW, I KNOW theres a lot of folks that say its stable because you have to tinker and update all the time. if you like a high maintenance rom try them out. just brace yourself for them forums if you have any noob questions. dont get me wrong not everybodys flamers but a lot of em are.
check out these and Flash like Mad!
best database out there

I figured out the problem I had with Cyanogenmod7's wireless tethering, thanks.
I've been trying to install MIUI but having some problems with that... Myn's working good for me though, and still looking around. Thanks much

[Q] New to the Dinc. Need Advice?

I'm an og droid user but just picked up a Dinc for my fiance. She loves the thing but hates the 10 hour (9 hours of that is idle?) battery life.
Last night, I went ahead and rooted it and removed most of the verizon crap-ware and then adjusted her sync settings to hopefully improve her battery life. I also did a battery stat reset.
She loves it as-is so flashing roms is out of the question. I don't have time/she doesn't have the patience for me to flash roms and fix problems that arise. With that being said I would like to explore the other back-end options.
Now, keeping in mind, this dinc is completely stock. Stock sense, stock kernel, stock radio, etc. I've been advised to replace the stock radio with one from Doug Piston. I was told to install the 04.08 version for the EVO. I just want to clarify that this will work for the Dinc running stock froyo sense? Also, if someone could tell me exactly what this does? Is the main benefit better battery life? Or something else? Also, if this is not the correct radio I should install, which is?
My second question is in regard to a better kernel. As stated above, I am stock and will remain on stock sense. What are some good proven kernels that will work on stock sense. Performance on the device is fine, so I'm not worried about that. I'm only looking for a kernel that will boost battery life. I looked around here but I couldn't determine which of these, if any would work on a stock Dinc or if they were just for custom roms?
Anyway, that's all. Thanks in advance for any help on this!
Here is a link to all the different kernels that are available for the Inc. It will say if it works with AOSP or Sense. Just take a look through them and see which one would work the best for what you want. Some will overclock, some will underclock, etc

Whoops didn't notice you had that link already. Some popular ones are incredikernel and heyitslou. I know with incredikernel I was getting good battery life but also was with different ROM not sense.
I have installed a radio on my Inc, been quite fine for the last few weeks as well. From my understanding, the radio may or may not improve gps lock and/or your phone's signal strength depending. This is hit or miss, not everyone notices a stark improvement in both or either category. As such, if you already have poor signal in your area it may not improve your signal therefore it has no effect on battery life.
Someone more knowledgeable in that area please correct me.
You can try whichever radio you desire, I recall many people using 4/08 or the 11/19. Personal preferences aside, your improved battery life depends on how much signal your phone reports that it is receiving.
I have used the heyitslou kernels and have loved the battery life I got with it. I have also upgraded my battery to the 3500mA battery. This did wonders
incredikernel w/ smartass + CM7 and never look back...i know you like the ROM but i think stock sense is what drains the battery the most.
I've had good luck with Lou's kernel running a sense rom.
may want to try Virtuous v3.2.0 its a good stock rom with some clean-up done.

Best Kernel/Radio for Rogers Users!?!?

Currently running kyanROM on my S3 and using the stock AT&T kernel. Battery life is ok, but my wifi and data signals sometime intermittently crap out. Don't want to overclock anything, just looking for great performance and batter life......anyone have any positive experiences with different kernels or radios?
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

This is being locked. There is no best kernel or rom combination, it's all personal choice.
