Firstly, Hi, Just got this forum recomended by a friend and it looks great, glad I joined.
secondly, all answer's need to be in plain English cos I am completely new to any for of electronic engineering etc etc.
So, On to my Q.
I brought a Wildfire back in June for £100 as it had been superceded by a new model, it was sold through O2 and was locked. I had it unlocked by a friendly shop for £20.
I returned to Egypt (I teach Scuba in Sharm el Sheikh) and started using the phone, really good, I like it.
Then my network starts selling internet packages (basically for less than £3 a month I can access the net whenever I like as long as I dont kick the arse out of it).
So I registered and paid my cash.........
When I click on the Connect to the Internet button it goes to "Turning On" but does nothing else.
I have asked my mobile network and they say it is a software problem caused by the illegal unlocking.....
HELP!!!
Regards
Stevie H
Hi and welcome. I will try and help the best I can but my knowledge is limited and others may help better if I can't.
I very much doubt this is a software issue but more of an vpn or data settings issue. Now my friend once had pay as you go and couldn't connect to internet due to his vpn or data connection values/settings not being set for his network. It was a long time ago so can't remember exactly what we did but it involved googling his network providers vpn settings and manually putting values into his phone settings. I hope and think this issue is easily solvable for you.

It's not software problem....u just enter settings manually goto settings-->wireless and connection-->mobile network-->access point and see it is ticked at ur service provider not,if not then tick that...hope so it will work...

Thanks for the reply, but the settings are all as they should be, I had the guy at Mobinil check em for me and also googled them to check myself and all is good on that front.
I emailed HTC about my problem, complete with model and serial numbers etc - it was them that said the "illegal" unlocking had caused the problem

What exactly do you mean by "click on the Connect to the Internet button"?
It may be that my language on my phone is set to Swedish and it's different from your's, but I don't understand what you mean by that. Are you talking about the checkbox for Settings - Wireless & network - Mobile network?
My experience is that you have a problem with the settings for Mobile networks (roaming, networks, APNs) just like slymobi and Ankurcul already told you. But if you've made sure they are correct it seems strange...
It is really strange bt I don't think so its illegal unlocking problem...

When I was an Orange customer, I had to ask them to turn off safeguard, PURELY FOR XDA AND NOTHING ELSE .
They did tell me that there's a page on their site where you can add a URL for a site that you believe should not be blocked, and they'll look into it. Since I was getting it turned off on my phone I never looked into it. If you do look into this, make sure you use the forum subdomain (forum.xda-developers.com, not www.xda-developers.com). It'll probably just go off the domain name, but better safe than sorry.
You could be responsible for fixing the issue for ALL xda users on Orange!

yeah im gunna nag them about it lol its stupid tho, my fuse is on vodafone and they dont have any problems with letting me on here lol i can't use my debit card to turn the safeguard off either cuz u need a credit card lol
can i ask whether this is with the phone you are browsing or using a mobile broadband dongle
ok
i had this trouble when i first used xda
the sloution is
for mobile broadband dongle
change the APN
if you can find it it should say orangeinternet, change this to consumerbroadband and voila
xda is unlocked
now for the phone
if you find its once worked but stopped then delete everything from opera
ire cache, cookie and history
then turn off phone and remove sim card
then once it back in it should work if this doesnt then alll i can suggest is going to
sart / settings / connections / connections
then make sure it says orange internet at the top of the screen
click on mange my existing connections
on the next screen , a tab called modem, make sure orange internet is selected from list then click edit
you should then get a screen saying enter a name for the connection, leave this as it is
then press next
this one should say access point name
and ir should say orangeinternet
change this to consumerbroadband
click next then finish
you should now be able to browse xda on you phone

Hi guys, hopefully someone can give me some advice on this issue or point me in the right direction.
I purchased a black HTC desire (8181) phone with Orange branding.
Now ... I use a 3 network sim card.
I have two problems .....
1. I cannot connect to the internet even though i have a data pack from 3. I have even called up their technical department and they have gone through some settings with me but im still unable to get it connecting.
2. I cannot send an MMS for some reason. It keeps on automatically trying but doesnt go through. Ive tried a couple of different files but with the same result.
I really miss my internet
Please help guys
Thanking you in advance
Nor can I, I think there's an issue with orange at the moment. Can't get through to customer service either and I'm a high user customer so I don't usually have much of a wait getting through. Some one elsewhere on tinternet. Thinks they are doing tests prior to merging with other operator

...does yout device try to establish a data connection?
Maybe you have no/false apn's.
Check your apns!
The device does try to load the internet but it doesnt.
According to 3 my APN settings should be "3services" and APN type is "default"

I cant seem to find anything on xda that helps me with this problem
Someone please?

i have a wifi issue on my dhd, i accidentally tap the "forget" button on one of my wireless network.. can i reverse this action? i mean is there a method which i can use to discover that lost network? i tried to enter it manually, but no success.. somebody help me pls.
Go in range of your "lost" network... Select the "lost" network from WiFi list menu... Enter passcode... Profit!
sir how can i find the "lost network" theres no option like that, my phone is desire hd.. can u be more specific, tnx
You take it seriously? I mean he just made a joke.
What he meant is just retype your password. There's no way you could recover the lost password unless you wrote it somewhere else.

+1 xD
Indeed, you need to go to Wireless and Network/ WiFi settings and chose your network and re-enter your password.
Apologies for being sarcastic, but I think I was in a good mood yesterday lol.
Cheers
but the problem is i cannot locate the network anymore ... and i remember that it has no password
That indicates to me that it is not your wifi, and that you probably shouldnt have access to it.
If you still chose to connect to a wifi that isn't your's, let me remind you that it is illegal - and from that point of view i don't think we can help you...

I have contacted bsnl CC and they say that this is a chinese phone and it doesnt have gprs
we all now how these bsnl cc [uneducated] people operate so no point wasting time asking them for settings
please help me with manual settings procedure
I am from north india , Lucknow , Uttar Pradesh
This should help.
http://www.upeast.bsnl.co.in/\files_for_download\gprs_setting.pdf
But seriously the settings should have already be there the first time you turn on the phone.
thanks for the help but still there is no positives from above pdf but while searching on internet i got the solution
just create new access point and under username type bsnlnet
under APN type bsnlnet
leave every thing untouched
thats it got it connected straight away
Try to enter "default" in the box for "APN type". I don't have any experience with BSNL, sorry.

Hello xda community!
I have a strange and serious problem: I can't connect to hidden WiFi's.
I'm with a LG G3 D855 10H (no newer versions available).
At work we use a hidden WiFi without password but with Juniper VPN.
When I type in the network name and save it, it tries one time to connect, then my LG G3 shows "not in range". After a few seconds, the WiFi is on the top again with a very good signal.
When I try to connect again, it shows "not in range" again and so on.
I tried it at home and created a hidden network and it was reproducible.
Anyone else has problem with this?
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Jake

Now that is what you call a 'special' post!
Would you care to explain how it was resolved for the people that have the problem.
My problem still exists, but isn't urgent anymore.
I found out, Android itself have problems (or restrictions?) to hidden WiFi networks.
I also found an app names HiddenSSID Enabler, but it seems it didn't work for me (or G3?).
If someone has a solution it still would be very helpful fo rme and the rest of the community.

I have logs posted in my first post, WIFI DESTROYED TWICE or there abouts.
I've had to resort to DATA and its killing me haha i think i am getting close to fixing it, well i think i may be closer than you two and can one of you kindly take the lead as im reinstalling windows and i haven't gamed in 6 days :|
/system/etc/wifi/WCNSS_qcomcfg.ini
then the problem is complex but i am sure it is something to do with gEnableApProt=1
Offshoot fix, reinstall using googled imei number that doesn't have a flag or some how fix the flag <READ A FEW DAYS BACK>
I think actually the program that stuffed me was Airmon by maxters. It asked me if i was pro and of course, i said yes. Who would simply click no? I know a ninj wouldn't click no. I think there is a manual reinstall to link to it again i find the modem in its own partition having a chill, most likely trojan/backdoor and pwning everything around me.. I had three encrypted vpn backdoors and escalated accounts on my computer I paid the 5$ for the binarys, i think i paid 5$ for the back doors.
Not to sell Airmon out though.. Rooting our phones and accessing countless forums and websites really does leave us rather "xposed" some other cuplrits may be dsploit, ROM manager, linux Deploy/kali, Pamn IP scanner, system app remover pro, busybox pro's (Stephen/JRummy) or CMinstall/accessing the forums and trying to install cynagenmod / twrp recovery. I'm probably going to go with..... Airmon/Linuxdeploy or uninstalltool. But may have just been my IP logged and i hit a booby trap script along the way.
You guys done anything of the sort?
/Thread killller
Neither I understand what you are talking about, nor am I (as not native english speaker) good at "sentence guessing".
I have a rooted phone - of course.
But I'm pretty sure my WiFi is not destroyed...
