Ready Root!! - Desire General

Hi all! Im happy to be a part of this forum.
Ok..after 2 weeks of intense reading i am ready to Root my Desire
I have unrevoked and the drivers ready...
Downloaded CyanogenMod...
Ready to backup my phone with Titanium as soon as rooted..
JuSt two questions...
1 - After JUST Rooting, everything is normal on my phone with the froyo and all..right, like my account, app market and so on?
2 - I have the standard 4gb SD that came with it... i want off course more space..should i wait until i have bought the 32 gb SD or am i good to go..and change that later ?
3 - Can i use any 32gb MicroSD class 4 ?
Any help will be much appreciated

Yeah, your data should be preserved at this point.

It depends. You should flash CM7r2 hboot and then you'd probably have enough space to keep dalvik cache on internal memory, which in turn should have no noticeable impact on performance. Card can easily be replaced in the future, you do your nand backup, save your data, partition your new card accordingly, store your data on it, and then restore your nand backup from it.

Yes, as long as they are not off eBay

1- Yes
2- Do it now, its not hard to re-do it on a new SD card when you have one.
3- Yes

Thanks so much Guys!

format sd card

I read alot of times the suggestion is to format the sd card. My question is since I am still new is do I simply move what I want to save (pictures) to my PC and then format? Do all the folders get automatically put back?
Thanks

Copy the data you want to your PC, format it, and copy the data back. Formatting destroys all data on the card.
Will the folders on the card now be put back on at some point by the phone itself?

[Q] flash hboot

Hi guys ! I have a Desire rooted & S-OFF and i want to flash cm7r2 hboot to install Runnymede 6.1 with INT2SD. I've burnt a CD with alpharev.iso and booted on my pc ...but after it recognizes my phone it asks me about recovery, etc. so it wants to S-OFF my device. i don't want that, because i've already done this. i just want to flash cm7r2.so where should i type that "fastboot flash hboot.." etc ? do i need some apps installed to pc? (i use windows 7) Oh,and another thing: i'm using Runny rom. can i flash a hboot with a rom installed on my phone ? or should i wipe everything before that?
Thanks in advance
have you googled or searched in xda?
there is a thread called android flasher. check it out.
thanks, i'll try that ! yes, i searched on google, but i found just about this method, with boot from cd.
go to alpharev site, download the PB99IMG.zip file (or the one attached) put it on your SD card and re-name it PB99IMG.zip. boot you phone into bootloader and it should give you the option of changing the hboot after the initial SD card check. clear data and then reboot back into bootloader and it should have changed. much easier than farting around with fastboot etc.

hey ! now i have another problem ) i have a 4 gb card (class 2) with an ext4 partition (1gb) and i've installed the runnymede rom with int2sd-s. now i have 1 gb internal memory, but my desire is very very laggy. I don't know why, but it keeps freezing and i have to wait a few seconds till an app opens. the browser, settings and sense ui are slower than before. Is the card my problem ? Should i buy a class 6 (or 10) one ? Please help !
Thanks
If you are going to run a Sense based rom, it's ideal that you use a class 4 sd card or higher. I heard class 6 is the sweet spot but I'm not sure.

maybe that will solve my problem(hopefully) . but i have another question .. what happened with my internal memory (that 120mb..) ? can it be possible to be the reason for this ? maybe it's full or.. i don't know.

I am aware that this version of Sebs (?) rom is a beta so may be due to that. I have a class 4 card and every sense rom i have flashed has run ok with relatively little or no lag at all. As a standard, i just use the CM7 r2 hboot with the ad2sd+ scrip from amarullz. still gives 600MBish of internal memory and runs pretty slick

That sounds good. I think i'll reflash the rom with the adsd+ till i'll buy a new card and the rom will be stable. thanks'
Should give you the option in the aroma installer, need to select custom install. also on the next page of the installer be sure to select market too. (not sure about the 6.1 Beta of seb's rom but on other versions it does, alternatively give the RunnyRom a try )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526831
had RunnyRom before, but i uninstalled it because i believed that htcsense was a problem of the rom, but i've just found on the forum that it's a htc problem (i was receiving the notification "wrong password"). Yes, the option is in the aroma installer, but i 've selected int2sd (thought it's better) .
off: what memory card do you recommend me: PNY or Verbatim ?

I would advise against int2sd, but that's on my personal experience. A really good sd card is sandisk 16gb class 4. But samsungs are pretty good as well, as are Adata.
Do you think that if i'll flash a new radio(or kernel) it will be smoother? I don't know too much about radios/kernels so i'll wait for your answers.
and another thing: can i flash the fatsys hboot after i flashed cm7r2? because i heard there are risks when you try to downgrade the hboot (brick), so i'm afraid of
something like this would happen when i will flash this hboot. Thanks

flash downgrader then fatsys hboot. if done properly, you will NOT brick.
Ok then. I will do these things after I'll buy a new memory card. thanks for answers.

I've just seen in 4ext recovery in the info tab (as i remember) that i have only 20mb free out of that 145mb from the system. Could that be the problem of the lag ? (I've attached a printscreen of the Quick System Info Pro) ..so, any ideas?

[Q] Hard bricked S4 mini GT-I9195

Hi fellows S4 mini owners and the Android developers,
I just bought S4 Mini GT-I9195 LTE as present for my daughter and it came with the latest firmware XXUBMJ7 and with KNOX and I rooted it following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 and everything went well.
So, I got rooted S4 mini with CWM Recovery on stock kernel and in Knox everything was changed to Custom and Knox was showing 0x1.
I have partitioned 16 Gb SDHC class 10 micro card with MiniTool Partition Wizard Professional Edition with next partitions:
First partition: 12 Gb FAT32 (unchanged) Primary
Second partition: 2 GB Ext4 Primary
Third partition: 512 mb Swap Primary
I have installed Link2SD to try if it should work with second Ext4 partition and it wiould work for the moment and it would link all removable apps to the second partition but with next boot it would get all force closed (FC's) messages about this moved apps.
I did a factory reset from CWM Recovery and I tried all again but now I changed in Link2SD options to link apps but without automatic linking apps to second partition and it seemed to work and It only moved one part of installed apps to second partition with no more FC's after the reboot.
Now after that I wanted to get SWAP partition working and I have installed "Swapper2 for root" and I have choose in options to use Swap partition and it took third partition mmcbklp03 as Swap partition (and I think that here went wrong but I'm not sure) and I remember that there was option in Swapper2 to always format SWAP partition on the boot.and it was chacked.
I have swiched on Swapper2 and at first instance it faild to find SWAP partition, then I tried once again and it succeed to swich on swap, to format swap partition and to make swap.
I have restarted a phone several times after installing few other applications and it all went good. After few hours of installing of the new apps and testing them the battery draind out to one percent (1%) and I just wanted to leave it to charge with phone swiched off, because it's better for the battery. I didnt use the original Samsung charger but I have used USB 3.0 on my laptop and what I have noticed that it took to long to charge more then six hours to charge it to 100%. The next time when I tried to swich on the phone it was impossible. It wouldn't go to any mode, just black screen but if it is connected to the PC it gives a sound that there is a divece on that USB port.
With or without battery it just give a sound that it means that PC can see "something" but if I try with Odin it doesn't show at all on any com to be seen.
I took the phone to the friend of mine (he is a phone reseller and he has many different software to revive a lot of different phones and only Riff Box can see my phone on "com 163" ) but I didn't want to soldier it and to flash it because I still have the warrenty as the phone is only few weeks old.
My question is: What could be a reason of the hard brick ?
Was it Swapper2, maybe, because it has formated the wrong partition ? Or something else ?
And should I use the swap partition at all, next time, knowing that this phone has 1.5 Gb of working RAM ?
What is your expiriance and conclusions ?
Edit: I just plugged the phone on the other laptop with Windows 7 and it showed to install new drivers. As first it could not recognize a device, after that it has installed HID drivers and at least it didn't succeed to install QHSUSB_DLOAD drivers.
Any idea ?
Thanks in advance !

Hi to all !!!
The phone is back from the repair service and it's "fixed", acctually they changed the whole motherboard and they didn't want even to examine what the problem was, what I think is a bit sad.
It was probably just the few partitions that were messed up and they just could reflash it with a JTAG or thier other advanced hardware, but it was "easyer" to just swich a motherboard and now I get again new 4.2.2 with KNOX loader and december update...
So here we go again, I will root it again but I we'll avoid this time Swapper2, or if somone know's the right adress from where bigins the swap partition if I use 32 Gb SD micro partitioned to 26 Gb FAT 32 and 4 Gb Ext4 and 512 mb swap. Which mmcblk will be swap then ?
Or should I even use swap partition with S4 mini if we know that 1.5 Gb RAM should be enough for 4.2.2 ?
Thanks in advance !
Greetings !
Hi ValenteL,
Sorry that I wasn't here for a long time but I was busy with my study and I see that you made the .img file but I already send it to repair center and if read my last post you can see what happened.
I'm really sorry that I didn't test it before I send it to them because they where brute as always and they even didn't look what was the problem.
I mean, it's good for me but it wasn't neccesery to waste a hardware which was good but is much quicker to replce it then to flash it again...
I hope that your file can help to someone else who has a same problem as I had.
I'll take your file for the future experiments, or can you explain how can I make my own .img file if I'm not rooted yet ?
Thanks in advance.

no point in rooting it then if you cant do it. i have also researched that everyone with a tab 7" have same problem BUT the 10" is fine and so is the tab 2. we got him the tab 3 cos they came down in price so seemed pointless getting him the tab 2..
Think ill get onto samsung and find out whats they plan on doing, otherwise we'll have to take it back if nothing can be done. He's moaning he's low on memory and cant use his ext sd card
My guess is that this has something to do with Google's policy of only supporting internal memory.
It got pretty obvious with SD card "bug" on the 4.3 update for the GS4.

If you root can't you just swap the EXT SD card with the internal one ? or is the not supported on Tab3 7.0, that way the app and game data can be stored on SDcard (this is useful if you're son is playing Games that require a lot of external space, e.g. Modern combat 4 or NFS Most wanted)
Just a suggestion, if this wont work then i will most likely be taking my tab3 back aswell.

Because devs (developers) are trying tomfind a way to move apps from internal to external sd card or the opposite so as for now people use this app but you can't move any app sadly

Most probably something screwed ur sd card up. you should try reformatting it and doing it again.
my guess is that maximus rom had something to do with it.
Hope it fixes ur issue!
Cheers!

Thanks for helping out! I think i will hold on and wait for Maximus nougat, format the Sd for the occasion and see if that happens again!
Does anyone knows which is the better format type for SD?

I believe that MaximusHD Nougat has been out for a day or two now.
Fun thing, I have the same problem as well.
At first it was scary but then I got used to it.
Also yes, I'm also using 128GB Samsung SD card but I don't know if that's the reason or not.

Really? It still gets on my nerves...I'll try to format the SD in a different format and see if it makes any difference. Usually how many times does your device restarts when you switch it on?

 You could turn on the light in this dark and ignorant room but you didn't.

Okay, but as for your format SD question...
If it is less than 32gb format it to FAT32, if it is more than 32gb format it to exfat.
There is an SD formatter from the SD Association that you could try. It'll clean it right up, but you'll need patience while running it. The full format takes a while (like over an hour for larger cards).
You can download that formatter from here. It has worked for a few people I know.
EDIT: You could flash the newest MaximusHD ROM with old firmware if you like, but the fingerprint and home button won't work. Otherwise it'll run fine.

3 usually, 5 at most.
Yeah it's pretty nervous at first, then after a couple of times I just sit back and relax.

Your always welcome! i would say try a sd that is of a maximum capacity of 64gb just to be on the safe side.
a couple would be the Sandisk Extreme 64GB or the PNY U3 Turbo 64GB.
Hope this helps ya!
