Hello everyone,
I know this question was asked and answered, but the answers didn't solve it for me.
I'm using Eagle's Blood ROM, and I have this problem with Synergy and Jugs. The white line from the last frame of the CRT off animation appears 1st when unlocking.
I wiped Cache and Dalvik and fixed permissions, and the problem went away, however when I rebooted, it came back. I did the wipe and permission fix twice and every time it comes back after a reboot.
I'm sorry for asking this here, but I'm new and not allowed to post in the relevant thread.
Great work on the ROMs and Kernels, you guys are what Android is all about
I think its the kernels man.... I had a lot of issues with the custom kernels on eagles blood :l so flash other roms if you want to use the kernels or jus flash the stock kernel again

Thanks for the reply
I forgot to mention that I also tried the Juggernaut ROM... same problem there too. I will try other ROMs and see if the problem goes away.

What kernel? I think it's that. Plus, I think it also may be because of slower graphical performance. I noticed it when the rest of my system was laggy and kinda choppy.
-We do what we must because we can. For the good of all us, except the ones who are dead.-
reflash the kernel
and do these steps

I had the same problem with both Synergy and Jugs. I don't think it is because of any slow-down or choppiness; I never had this problem with the stock kernel, even though it has its share of lag.
I think it may be the CRT off effect, it could be conflicting with the custom kernels.
I did flash Jugs twice, and every time the problem goes away after I do the wipe-caches-and-fix-permissions thingy. However, as soon as I reboot, it comes back.
I think I found a solution. Fixng permission clearing cache and dalvic cache didn't work. But a hard reboot worked. Hold power button till phone reboot tada!

lol, this is so annoying. Btw, I wanted to thank you for the Crysis and Beam Bat. charging mod., they are awesome
I have a question about them that I posted at the thread

I've got MIUI ROM 1.6.10 installed on my HTC Desire and I really like it, but I've got a big issue with the camera: it's in a constant state of being frozen.
So to clarify, I open the camera app, and it's straight away frozen. I try to press buttons but all I get is the Force Close / Wait dialogue. If I wait, nothing happens. If I force close and open it again, it's frozen still/again.
It used to happen to me in MIUI 1.2 as well and when I upgraded to MIUI 1.4 after a wipe, surprisingly it was exactly the same, but then I tried pressing the Clear Data button for the Camera application and it started working again.
A little bit after it started getting frozen again. Clear data didn't work anymore, neither did a wipe, SD card format and upgrading to 1.6.10, as mentioned above.
The only thing I can think about the might cause the problem is this: before miui I used to have cyanogen ROM. When I look at phone information it says I've got the cyanogen kernel. is that something that could cause problems to the miui ROM? Should install a different kernel?
Can anyone please help? I really like this ROM and I don't want to have to start getting used to something else!
Thanks for reading!
I'm not sure if this is useful/helpful at all but i gather that since it says that you've got cm kernel you didn't perform a full wipe when you installed miui... try doing a full wipe and reinstalling it...
Save important user data and apps, perform a full wipe and flash again.
Does a full wipe erase the previous kernel?
What kernel will I have then?
Can anyone actually explain what kernel is exactly?
Also, how do I do a FULL wipe?
Because I've already done:
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache
What am I missing?
Cheers
After a full wipe you won't be able to start any rom.
You will get the kernel which is delivered with the rom you flash.
An explanation for the kernel:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_kernel
Nothing is missing for a full wipe.
Search the miui thread for your problem.

If nothing is missing and I've actually done a full wipe, then why is my kernel still cyanogen?

Wicked thank you. So the kernel is not the problem.
Could I still have missed something from a full wipe? I remember reading in the guide that u need to format /data,or something. But I assumed the wipes I've detailed above were sufficient. Can anyone confirm that for me?
Or can anyone tell me otherwise why I'm having this problem?
Thanks.

DIDN'T WORK!
It's a shame. I really thought that was the solution, but it didn't work.
I've just downloaded and installed the recommended radio (5.17.5.23), even tried to clear the camera's data again, but it's still frozen.
ANYONE ...? :\
Did you try some other kernels like ManU or Tiamat?

No. Do you reckon that might help? Which one would u recommend?
Okay I've tried a different radio, different kernels (Tiamat 3.3.8 and 4.0.5). Nothing helps!
Does anyone have a clue how to fix this annoying problem?
Another lead I had in mind: Could the fact that I have S-ON affect anything?
Update: I've tried pressing "Fix Permissions" in ROM Manager which didn't help either.
................?
The MIUI camera seems to be a bit buggy, I had to update the radio which helped me get rid of the worst crashes (suprise reboots) but it's still FC'ing and crashing the camera totally so that a reboot is necessary.
Try installing Camera360 from Market. It works for me, and at least you will know if it's just the MIUI Camera app that's broken or if you have bigger problems. In case Camera360 can't connect to the camera, reboot and try again.

I've already tried a different camera from the market and it does work with no problems at all.
It is the miui camera app that's malfunctioning.
If no one has a solution, all that's left for me is to hope the miui devs will fix this critical issue for their next build.

Ah, then it's most probably the same problem that I have, only I get to shoot a few pics before it goes bye bye and then no camera app at all works until I reboot.
It's a shame because I really like the MIUI Camera, but I guess we'll just have to wait for a fix. If you have error logs, try posting them in the official forum for your MIUI build and maybe they can get someone in China working on a solution?
same problem for me but i am on 1.9.16 ported to X10 lol...
I seen somewhere that it was the auto focus that caused problems/ lags for ppl so if i could just get it to work once and maybe turn that off?
so awhile back like 4-6 weeks i had my evo replaced. i flased roms and such and used the revolution method to unlock it. everything was working fine until i went to use my camera. i got a complete blank screen and no menu option nothing.
so i took it to sprint and they replaced my camera. yea my sprint store will repair my phone regardless being rooted. there pretty cool people. so after it got fixed it worked just fine. then i flashed another rom and got the black screen again. panic!! lol i reflashed the current rom that i knre it previously worked on and still broke again.
can someone explain to me how it broke for the second time?
which rom are u using? Try to flash the stock rooted rom in the forums...see if its doing the same thing. I am going to say it probably is not hardware unless the flash is really jacking it up. Did you do a superwipe or just flash it over top? Try to do a cache and dalvik wipe like 3 times on each. Should clear it out.
Also are you using a custom kernel?

well i flashed almost back to stock using synergy umm 2.2 i believe and at the moment im using FEARmede b8.5. this is the rom i had when i got my orignal camera replaced. then i flashed the new ics rom and then back and broke again.
no custom kernal because there isnt one yet and i use VRsuperwipe and it clears dalvik and cache 3x.

Have you tried flashing a new camera apk? Have you dropped it? It could be loose on the board.

What do you mean it goes into the bootloader. Need some specifics of precisely what you mean. And what do you mean by bootloader, are you talking about recovery or download mode?

I believe they means the boot animation. Unless I'm mistaken, they're getting stuck in a bootloop. I'm really interested in which Kernel option they chose when installing it. I'd say that choosing a different one would fix the bootloop issues (I tried the optimized stock one recently and that seemed to work well).
I'd suggest that the next time it happens go into recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache. Reboot phone and see if that fixes the problem (give the phone time to boot up after clearing cache). If that doesn't work, you can try fixing permissions in Recovery (I doubt that'd fix a bootloop, but it might be worth trying).
Finally if none of the above work, I'd try downloading the MOAR rom again, but double-check md5 sums to make sure it's a good download. When installing it, start with the stock kernel and see if it occurs again.
hey, new user here, don't know if this has come up before but i did a search and haven't found anything that has the same particulars as i do.
recently my phone hasn't been responding to power button or home button wake up, intermittently. freezes up sometimes and some apps force close more than usual. then the other day, my phone died on me (full battery discharge) and when i finally got around to charging it, it charged fully but it wouldn't turn on past the Samsung boot logo, and gets real hot while doing so.
Also, the samsung boot logo appears before the AT&T splash screen tone starts.
im running stock Rooted 4.1.2 with the latest perseus kernel version.
any suggestions? i havent made a nandroid in a couple weeks, so my preferred route would be without a data wipe.
i can still access CWM recovery, btw.
well damn wheres the help?
I would download the stock rom and flash it again. If that doesnt work, custom rom time. I honestly cant see this problem getting fixed without a data wipe though good luck and keep me posted.

With the non-response issues you describe, and the fact that you are seeing multiple force closes on the device....start with a wipe of the cache and dalvik cache in recovery.
It sounds as if the device is having cache file management issues, and trouble within the file structure.
While I dont think you have any hardware issues, it does sound like the software is suffering for one reason or another, and a base cleaning of the caches may help.
If no improvement is seen after cache cleaning, then we move to the data next.
I realize you want to keep your data intact, but if corruption has occured, you will have no choice but to factory restore the device and test again.
Try the cache cleaning first, then boot and test....
Beyond that...as the above poster states...a fresh install may be needed....g
Before a data wipe try reinstalling the kernel, and also try dirty flashing the Rom.
Not sure I would recommend a dirty flash to him. Plenty of times the result for users has been bad. Though as stated above yours, It does appear to be a file system error. He is probably right and I should have thought about wiping the dalvic cache first.
Sent from my X501_USA_Cricket using Tapatalk 2
i was afraid this would happen....
tried wiping both caches with no new results.
ive read that dirty flash has had mixed results. if i can at least get the OS booted so that i could backup what i need to, that would be a good thing.
im thinking its a kernel issue, since the phone gets real hot while stuck on the samsung screen. could i be right?
thanks guys:good:
i also tried reinstalling the kernel through cwm recovery, nothing new
FIXED
did a data/factory reset from recovery. it kept everything! thank god for cloud backups. Google is the JOINT!! i even kept my kernel and root, and at&t backed up my texts and calls....thanks everybody for the help, i really appreciate it!
its still kinna hot though...turned it off to let it cool down and see what happens when i start it back up....will keep posted if anything
Great. Know I didnt help too much but glad you got it worked out.

Great news ....
Data corruption is so very easy to get.
As we mix and match pieces of code, those issues do arise.
Sadly, the causes are often elusive.
But the plan "B" wipe generally does the trick, as is the case here.
Happy flashing....g
I searched for something like this, but couldnt find anything. Ive been flashing between different Roms since I got my phone, and wanted tosee if there was something that I could flash to wipe away all the gremlins from previous Roms. I still do a clean flash and wipe dalvik, cache, and factory reset. But ive been noticing little issues here and there.

Well There isn't one as such. Typically what I do is.
1. Factory Reset
2. Wipe Dalvik, Cache and sometimes /Data
3. Flash the Rom & Gapps.
4. Reboot Setup everything
5. Reboot Again to Recovery and then wipe Dalvik+Cache and then flash custom Kernel if I wanted.
I may skip Step 5 if I want to stick with Rom's own kernel. I know you went through this, I just wanted to specify the sequence. If you still have issues then post them on the new rom's thread.

What little issues and on which ROMs? It matters.
Factory reset wipes data and cache. Dalvik cache is on the data partition, isn't it?
So factory reset, wipe system. Should be all you need to do.

Ive been reflashing Goosh rom, but after 2-3 months or so I have to reflash it because it slows down and starts to have issues. Havent installed or updated any apps. I dont have many and I know they can affect it. So thats when ive been doing. I really like the rom and get great battery life, but the dev has dropped support for it. Even to tell me to "use a different ROM" because he doesnt care. But each time I reflash it after a couple months, it doesnt seem to work as well as the very first flash from when I first got the phone. I feel like things are building up/not getting completely wiped.

Unless you're completely wiping everything, including internal sd, then there will of course be lingering data. But consider doing a true factory reset, which formats /data. From a custom recovery, it doesn't format because it's preserving your internal sd data. You'll have to specifically choose Format Data from within the recovery.
Something else you can try is in Settings, Developer Options, at the bottom choose Limit Background processes and I would select 3 to start. If it doesn't help much go to 2 and test.
