[Q] overclock and slower speeds? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

everytime I try an overclock kernal my speeds slow down .. I know that cf-bench and antutu are just numbers and all but .. if the kernals do speed up the phone then I would figure that the numbers would go up from my base numbers due to the performance increase .... but instead I lose about 1000 on each test.
I am currently on Juggernaut and the jugs kernal and I am hitting right under what I was on stock kernal and the stock deodexed ROM I had.
I have it set to 1.7 (1.8 bootloops) thru setcpu and the setting is on lag free currently and I have also tried the on demand setting as well and it was about the same results.
any reason why this would be?

not sure about you, but running great over here check these out

Certain Rom and Kernels Together Produce Better Battery Life?

Hey guys, I am running CodenameAndroid and Francos Kernel. I am getting awesome battery life as I went 25 hours yesterday. However, if I ran Francos Kernel with a differnt ROM, (AOKP for instance) is there a possibility of better battery life?
Do certain Kernels work better with certain ROMs as far as battery life goes?
Yes different combinations produce different results.
Currently testing out new Gummy with the provided Imoseyon kernel. Results look good, updating to 1.0.1 from 1.0 right now.
Here my battery life on my first time trying 1.0 with Imoseyon 3.2.2. Light-medium usage with a lot of standby. Stock battery.

[Q] ArcKnight idle battery drain?

Recently flashed ArcKnight's kernel for ICS and noticed a higher idle battery drain. Not sure whether its normal? Seems that Android OS is keeping the phone awake..
Edit: Running Doom's ICS Rom

Previously I had Doom's kernel and the overnight drain was only 1-2%.. Thanks
I have the high Android OS usage too.
Don't know when it appeared. But right now i have whichever kernel i use. Doom, ArcKnight, stock, sirkay. Don't really know what to do about it. Jimbo77 suggested in his arcknight thread that after unplugging the mobile from the cable a quick reboot should solve it. It doesn't in my case.
Not like the battery is drained withing a couple of hours even with the phone idle, but still... the battery life is a bummer :/

High pings

Is anyone else experiencing high pings? I'm running all star ROM v7 on T-Mobile. I haven't done anything to my phone this week and suddenly my pings have spiked.
I've tried switching radios but it didn't do anything.

WOW, they are high! If all is working well I would not worry to much about it.
+1 I sometimes get high pings but your speed does not look affected of you ask me lol your good maybe try a different radio if all is different maybe that radio doesn't like that ROM...if not go back to that one

I think I solved the problem by changing my APN... Problem is I can't receive or send MMS now.
BTW the download speed is deceiving because the high ping makes browsing impossible lol

I don't think there is a universally best kernel. All kernels try to find a useable balance between performance and battery backup. Some are a bit more performance-oriented, others try to push this balance a little bit more towards battery. Last but not least, the interaction of ROM, apps and kernel is important. So you won't be able to avoid trying out a few kernels with your device (and your usage) and choosing the best one for you.
In my usecase (long lasting battery, only short&light loads, no gaming) I'm quite happy with N0Kernel (battery version). However, my kernel tests were made a while ago and there are more recent versions of all kernels, I think. There might be better kernels out now (for my usecase), but I would need several weeks to be able to make a comparison.
