I'm able to play this game with chainfire and the nvidia plug in, and it plays fine, with no graphical errors or lag, but as soon as you kill the first enemy the game crashes. I don't know what this could relate to as i doubt its performance issues as everything up to that point is as smooth as on an Iphone
thanks
Same problem for me too. If anyone can say how they can fix this I would be very happy to hear about it as well. The game looks amazing though
Same for me. Plays smooth as hell right until you kill that first enemy then freeze and crash.

Last night I was testing out the E4GT by playing Grave Defense HD and the app kept closing once I reached a certain level of game intensity. It didn’t give me a force close error, it just disappeared like it had been killed with task manager.
I decided it was an issue with that game and tried another game I thought would be less intensive (Spinballs). The same thing started happening with that game. At a certain level of intensity, the game just disappeared from the screen. Phone sat looking back at me like nothing was wrong.
I played both of these games on my E4G without this kind of issue.
I’m not using any kind of automatic task manager or memory manager. I haven’t done any rooting type shenanigans with the phone either.
Anyone else experience anything like this?
N.O.V.A. 2 HD - which came with the phone - is causing the same symptom. Maybe I have a lemon.
I experienced this with the browser twice already, out of the blue, mobile sites, nothing intensive.
Same thing here with Grave Defense HD. Frustrating.
Thank you so much for letting me know this. Honestly. I thought I was losing my mind or had the world's worst luck. I was about to reset my phone to factory default just to see if that would clear up the issue.
It did the same to me while playing third blade
Anyone find the cause?

The browser on my original Epic 4g would randomly close out the same way, pisses me off when it happens. I'm not happy to hear about this

Both my wife's E4GT and mine are doing the exact same thing as well. This is with Grave Defense, Fieldrunners, and Plants vs Zombies.
I continue to get this when playing any game. It doesn't look like it is related to intensity. It seems that maybe it is just after a set amount of time or something. I used the zedomax root and it still happens after root. I was also wondering if maybe some service is activating (PRL check? Firmware check? Email check?) and that kills the game for some reason.
I stayed up reading Kindle on my phone for a long time just to check it and it didn't close the Kindle app. I'm trying really hard to find a pattern.
Im thinking about deleting the stock task manager, and putting on advanced task killer. It kills my set cpu and shoots me back up to 1,200mhz. And it doesn't kill everything effectively anyways.

I noticed it when the game was moved to ad card

I don't even have an SD in my phone yet so it's unrelated to the app being on the SD card or not from the sound of it.

But the phone has an internal sd card, no?
Worked so far for me

Oh yeah I guess it does have that... everything is installed to internal memory and not the internal SD card though right? I haven't tried moving anything to SD card (external or internal)

If you uninstall the stock task man and put on a custom one can you let us all know if that fixed the random task close/exits.
Killed my task manager, installed Watchdog (which keeps stats on running tasks - made sure to whitelist GRave Defense HD so it wouldn't try to whine about it).
Still went "poof" and closed by itself in the middle of the game after it'd been running long enough and enough stuff was going on.
Verified that task manager is still not running in my applications list. So... thats not what's doing it strangely enough.
To further troubleshoot this, sound was off.
Is there a debug file or something we can have android make?
My theory was incorrect
Maybe there is a setting we need to uncheck

Looked all through the settings for "Annoyingly close programs that you are actively using without giving any errors and making you scratch your head in disbelief" but couldn't find that to turn off
On a more serious note, we're at least building up a good amount of things that it *isn't* which does in fact help
The reason I say so is due to the fact that I can play the game for 15 minutes and after that it closes the game without warning and no signs of FC, what gives? No matter if I play it on 3G or WiFi.
P.S. I used to play it on the OG EVO and it played nicely of course using Chainfire.
It's not just that game. Many games crash on this phone; Google around for the issue and you'll see it. At this point, your best bet is to get in touch with the Order and Chaos folks and have them use MediaStream instead of SoundPool, or lower the number of streams to 4. I have no idea what any of this actually means, but that's how another game dew claims to have fixed it.

I'm gonna have to do some research about that, I know for fact that Gameloft won't listen to one complain. I'm sure they know what's going on but who knows what they will do about it to get it fix, unless there is a cracked .apk file of that game going around with a fix ...
P.S. Maybe a workaround could be implementing an option to turn the sound and music off ...
The bug can be has been explained in detail here:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=17623
The workaround is an app by Tegrak i think its called 2nd core but none of the kernels for the epic touch have the needed stuff in them to make it work. Basically you can turn off one of the cores with the app to alleviate the problem.
Actually this is no longer an issue if you update to EK02, I have not had this 15 minute shutoff problem since updating.
Great game but pointless without saves! Everytime I quit it force closes and next time I fire it up, all progress is gone. I've been suggested to just back out but that's what I'm doing, I'm not using home. I hit back as far as it let's me then it won't let me go any furthe, it asks me if I want to quit, I say yes, and force close and my save is gone.
Anybody got a solution?

Same
But...real racing 3 comes out soon and it looks...well,real.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Same thing here. However at some point I must have done something to get the data stored, since when I restart I'm half way through the first set of races. Only problem is I don't know what I did to force it to update a profile save.
Pity EA haven't fixed it.
this happened to me after i cleared save data ingame...not sure if all these steps are necessary, but heres what i did to fix mine:
-force stopped
-cleared data & cache
-deleted sdcard/Android/data/com.ea.game.realracing2_OTD_na/
-restarted & redownloaded additional files
hope this helps!
I just cleared the cache, and I still see it, but not as frequently. Will probably do the full wipe and reinstall to try and fix it for good.
Sucks when you've accomplished a lot. lol
That's sucks hopefully doesn't hit me been playing since saturday

Mine works great

I'm having the same issue. Only occurs on CM10. Phone- Verizon GS3
The Fix
The solution was on the comments of the play store listing. Simply, when the error window pops up at the end DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING. After a few seconds it disappears and when you reenter the game you'll find your profile has updated (during that period whilst the error window was up). Not sure why they can't just fix it, but that's EA for you.
Up to third tournament with some light gaming.
I reinstalled it and re downloaded data now it saves fine

it works perfect for me I did buy it though, only problem i have is the other cars engine noises randomly when im racing works great with my ps3 pad
I've just installed GTA Vice City on my Xperia S and I was excited about getting to play it at last.
The bad thing is, after about 30 seconds of gameplay the game totally crashes and the only way to cut out of the game is to do a hard reset (hold power button + volume up)
I'm just wondering if anyone else has got this game on their device and came across the same problem?
And if so, have you been able to fix it?
My XS is completely stock and unrooted running the latest ICS update.
Thanks in advance if anyone could shed some light on this issue

Same here. But also the game feels a bit laggy.
It actually felt pretty good for the time it would let me use it. It's just the total crash which means I can't do anything with it.
Same here!
Sorry guys for OT, but how did you get this game? IT doesn't show on Google play
Sent from my Sony Xperia S rocking JB
It doesnt show on play store because rockstar have removed it due to the issue of it freezing or as they call it 'technical difficulties' it should be fixed soon though. Fingers xed
I heard of a bug in the game that Rockstar will solve in their next update... For source, simply google 'vice city android'
P.S. GTA III works fine for me

WAIT A DAMN SECOND. KIDCARTER93, DIDN'T YOU SAID YOU HAVE SOLD YOUR XPERIA S? You god damn bastard.
Same here with my Xperia Acro S rooted stock...
It was smooth and good at first, but then crashes...
will wait for fix from Rockstar
Same thing here. I'm from a different phone Galaxy S Blaze 4G ( i googled the issue and came across here) It's REALLY smooth at first but then it freezes. Like, the visuals.. cause i can still here the sounds, and im driving and running people over, then i hear the cops.. it just freezes.. BTW im on CM10.
Oh and i dont have to hard reset.. just exit the game, if you're wondering.
I can run around the city but I can't drive cars it freezes as soon as I press the gas but over all this game is way better than GTA 3

I'm guessing this game will be working fine once it's officially released because a ton of devices are having problems running this game at the moment, even though they're on the approved list of devices to work (like our xperia s).
I've managed to get the game working on my S2 and even some people have problems with it on that phone aswell.
Hopefully Rockstar will be able to get this issue solved soon enough

Same problems also with the new Gta Vice City 1.01 version relased yesterday!
Sony Xperia S with Cyanogenmod 9.1 Stable
Still freezing on 1.0.1
Yes, even I am facing issue with 1.01 while driving alone
Same thing on CM10
It usually only happens when playing a bigger game like Real Racing 3 or Heroes of Order & Chaos. The screen will stop receiving any input for a second or two, then be fine. It's happened since I was unrooted on stock, and on every ROM since after I rooted, so I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with that. Is it a hardware problem or a security thing or what?

Then it isn't random. Your phone is either overheating to the point of forcing a reboot or running out of ram and triggering a reboot.
You mean a screen reboot? Overheating is actually probably causing it. It doesn't reboot the phone or anything, I just am unable to use the screen for a second. I'll try to keep the phone cool now.
