[Q] Query on steps to install this custom room - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I wish to know if I install the GB MIXER PLAY v10 Plus [UK GENERIC] R800i 4.0.2.A.0.42 Last UPGRADE 2.3.4 ROM for my Xperia Play, can I install it without wipe data or format?
As I have a lot of apps and games is currently installed on my stock rom 4.0.2.A.0.42. I hope those game record will still remain after I install a new ROM.

No a full wipe is always RECOMMENDED to back up all your app data i would use Titanium Backup it backs all your apps up and saved app data etc

I would also recommend buying the paid version as i batch restores that apps

[Q] Play Store not automatic restoring?

I've seen some other people with this problem, but whats with the Play Store not automatic restoring apps?
This cost me so much time today after quickly trying out CM10 which is naked with barely any features only to come back to CNA, and both times with wipe/factory reset, my apps would not restore automatically, i would have to go to the list of purchased/downloaded on play store and individually install each one...?!
thankfully I had a fairly recent titanium backup, but im wondering if this broke my market links with these apps??
anybody else having this problem?

Did you not create a full backup before flashing a completely new ROM?

What play store restoring apps?
Restore from Titanium Backup, it takes around 10-20 minutes..
As a good practice, i restore only free apps, i redownload paid apps from play store.
I have had a lot of trouble with the official Google Backup/Restore and custom ROMs. And this is across four different devices I've owned since they implemented that feature. Stock it always works fine after a data wipe, but when flashing a custom ROM it never recognizes it.
That said, recently it did start working for me on CM10. It did not work going from stock -> CM10, but it worked doing a clean install from one nightly to the next.

As mach3.2 mentioned, it's probably wise using something like titanium backup to backup and restore apps when switching from one ROM to another as they tend to only work on rooted devices for a reason.

I did have a titanium backup, luckily. Usually what I do is restore all play store apps first, then use titanium to restore the apps not downloaded from play store.therefore I minimally use titanium backup, and never restore system says incase of incompatibility..
But what I'm pointing out is that for the first time since trying out CM10 and then reverting back to CNA, both times my play store apps would not automatically restore like usual...? Maybe it's a problem with the latest play store version?? (3.9.16)

Whether or not you auto restore depends on the gapps package you install. It's not due to the current play store version, but rather because the package you used doesn't support it.

Thanks, this makes complete sense because the only thing that changed was the gapps package.
I thought Google backed up the apps though? so how does it work that the gapps package backs up apps?
If I switch back to the previous gapps version will my apps auto restore?
I switched to the new gapps version because it has new gmail version etc
This is why I don't install GAPPs from a ZIP file - I get them from the Play Store so they always auto-restore...Just make sure you have the Play Store apk on your phone of course!
Figured out that the CM10 gapps packages, seem not to auto restore apps with Google play.
But no problem with CNA or AOKP gapps packages. - they restore my play downloaded apps right away

[Q] Make an original state backup

Hello there, I have a HTC Wildfire S I bought last week, I've already unlocked the bootloader, installed the CWM recovery and rooted the phone but I wanted to try new roms but at the same time I do not want to reinstall all my apps from my stock rom so I wanted to know a way of making a backup of the actual rom while keeping the installed apps so I wouldn't have to reinstall them, like going back time.
Yes I've made a backup of the stock rom after I rooted it and yes it is on some place safe.
Thanks.

Use Titanium Backup app to backup all the apps and their data and keep the TitaniumBackup folder from SD card in a safe place and after installing a new ROM, transfer the TitaniumBackup folder into the root of your SD card, install Titanium backup app and then restore apps.

Cwm backups all data in their current state, including applications.
If you're talking about bringing your already installed apps to another Rom,I wouldn't recommend doing it.
It worked as you guys said, thank you so much now I can enjoy CM10 and rollback to my stock rom with my apps already installed

Is there a way to move apps' settings between ROMs?

Right now I'm using EvervolvTurba 4.2.2 ROM on my Desire and before that I've had stock GB ROM. I was wondering can I move apps from that GB ROM and all those appses settings (Like game progression/money/points etc...) to the new 4.2.2 ROM? If can, how do I do it? I have a backup of both GB and JB ROMs.
Yes of course you can
While on your 4.2.2 ROM, install another app called nandroid manager or similar, can't remember the exact name. You should be able to browse the gb nandroid backup and extract all the apps plus their data.
If that doesn't work, restore the gb backup and install another app like titanium backup to backup all user apps and data. Then restore the 4.2.2 ROM and install titanium backup and restore the apps.
You may have compatibility issues from gb to 4.2.2, so you may have to install the apps manually from the play store and then restore the data afterwards.
try titanium backup!! it is good!

Backup Solution hassle free !!?

Hello guys,
I've been wondering how the google screwed us with so many JB 4.3 updates and here i'm still on 4.2.2 restoring to 4.2.2 after every 4.3 ROM flash as some are very sluggish and not so promising and with others the problem is TI backup as google doesn't restore my apps by default whatever the issue is...
After wiping factory data reset (System wipe + cache + data w/o wiping media) i flashed a new rom before that i did a nandroid of my Jul24 Euroskank with Trinity A3 build the last of 4.2.2 plus ti backup of my 101 apps...and after flashing 4.3 i could not restore my backed-up apps TI says error
:grrh : .
Please if any one knows a perfect and 100% tested method to backup user apps help me out with this issue ...thanks !

If your 4.3 ROM is using Koush's superuser, go to TB settings - backup location - scan whole device. Then select the legacy foder and you should be good to go. Alternatively, you could flash chainfire's super SU 1.51 and TB will work without changes.

[Q] Looking for stock apps

Hi there !!
I'm currently having issues with my Z1, I recently installed a zip for deodexed apps from CWM and it has messed up some apps, a bit..
I cleared /data partition in order to reinitialize most of the things but still having issues with XPeria Keyboard app that crashes..
Do you know where I can find a zip archive with stock apps for .757 ? So that I can rewrite /system..
Thanks a lot :good:
If you have recovery, did you do a backup before you started messing with system apks?
Do you have Titanium Backup, that should restore stuff for you.
Otherwise zxz0O0's guide might help
You shouldn't loose any data.
Hi Didgesteve !
I did a backup of apps through FlashTool (My D550X/Backup System Apps) but I can't see how to restore this backup, actually..
I'll glance at Titanium Backup
Thanks
