[Q] [ Problem with ROM][08.11.11]Runnymede 5.2 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all,
i flashed Runnymede_Desire_5.2 new base Runnymede RUU 1.05.401.4 CM7r2 Hboot A2SD++
after instalation i have only 12 mb internal memory. i have ext4 partition on my sd card but i can not use app2sd or ext4 memory.
how can i solve that?

A2SD++ (SD-EXT)minimum atleast 512mb ext4

WATCH IT THIS WORKS ONLY WITH HBOOT CM7r2 (145mb system partition)

Do you meet these requirements?

i have 2048 mb EXT4
and for second conditions yes

Try flashing the rom again.
I cannot tell so much about this as I am having trouble flashing the new Hboot cm7r2!

i flashed again. now i m having 134 mb available internal storage.
but it isn't enough for me because i will setup a lot of apps. how can i move that apps to my sd cart or external storage?

I believe that if you flash the cm7r2 version you should have more than 134 mb after the first boot... I am on stock hboot version and I can remember that I started with 137 mb.
By the way did you flash the sd2sdx file? If yes, did you flash it immediayely after flashing the rom?

You can use the ad2sdx script by amarullz, Works great after that.. I have a 2gb EXT4 partition and after flashing the script I have 1.6gb internal memory..

There is only one CM7r2 hboot.
And if you have 137MB on first start, you clearly don't have that one.

thank you very much to all of you.

Dear All,
I have below questions , kindly answer them.
My Desire details.
Desire SLCD
ROM: Stock Froyo out of the box.
BRAVO PVT4 S-ON
HBOOT 0.93.0001
Root: unrevoked 3.21 + recovery
a] Found anwser....
I have rooted my device and have taken nandroid back-up using recovery.
b] If I restore my nadroid back-up
1] will it be in rooted state ?
2] will it flash hboot ? or only android system ?
c] Considering, I S-off using alhparev and flash one of Hboot from alpharev site
1] I can still go back to stock bravo hboot right ?
2] After I flash one of the hacked hboot and then try to restore a nandroid backup which was actually backed up when I had stock hboot(or any other hboot), which means partition size will be different , will it flash properly?
d] If I flash any RUU [ Including latest HTC GB RUU] , will it replace hboot also ?
e] Now if i flash any latest HTC STOCK GB based ROMs ( with hacked hboot)
1] Is My ROM still in rooted state ?
2] Can I still restore my nandroid backup straightaway which i had taken at very beginning when i had stock HBOOT ? or do i have to flash stock HBOOT first and then restore my backup ?
f] How many S-off metthods are available ? Please guide me to the tutorial for doing S-OFF [ im not able to find proper link]
g] I found that for flashing cm7 r2 hboot cm7 hboot is required but in alpharev site i din find cm7 hboot, though i found it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16090990&postcount=3879, do I really need to flash cm7 hboot first and then cm7 rc2 ?
I am planing to flash my first Custom ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016940. So final question
The above ROM requires
A2SD CM7 HBOOT - cm7 hboot from alpharev.nl - the one with 130 mB for /system - 1 gB ext2/3/4 partition
A2SD+ STOCK HBOOT - stock hboot - the one with 250 mB for /system - 1 gB ext2/3/4 partition
what do you mean by A2SD or A2SD+ here ? Are they same Hboot which r listed in alpharev.nl ?
Hope i will get answers for my questions
Thanks in advance...
I think that you should wait to s-off until you have the basics sorted
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805247
s off
you can s off in 2 seconds with alpharev.nl hboots

Thanks.. Im going to do S-OFF using alpharev virtual machine.. ill post back once done .
Next i will try to flash cm7 hboot using SD card technique or using android flasher
Thanks
I would advise against using virtual machine unless you are experienced with it .... You get connectivity issues between VM and usb... which interupts the process.... there is an option but I cannot for the life of me remember it!! It basically stops you having to constantly reconnect usb if that helps lol
CD is better

Thanks for all ur help

Though i have sucesfully, Rooted, S-SOFF, installed HBOOT C7 and flashed insertcoin ROM.. i wanted to clarify few things...
In insertcoin They have mentioned below requirement.
A2SD CM7 HBOOT - cm7 hboot from alpharev.nl - the one with 130 mB for /system - 1 gB ext2/3/4 partition
A2SD+ STOCK HBOOT - stock hboot - the one with 250 mB for /system - 1 gB ext2/3/4 partition
a] I am aware of A2SD application which is used to move installed applications from phone memory to SD card memory. I am also aware of HBOOTS CM7, CM7r2, STOCK etc... But what do you mean by A2SD CM7 HBOOT or A2SD+ STOCK HBOOT here ?
b] I have formatted my 2GB SD card as 1GB Ext4 and remaining FAT32. But i just wanted to know
1] Who will be using this 1GB Ext4 partition ?
2] If we install A2SD application and move apps to SD card , are they going to be stored in EXT4 partition or FAT32 partition?
3] Can we read EXT4 partition contents in phone using any file explorer ?
4] Finally, why cant we use EXT4 partition alone if it has more advantage ?
I have flashed ROM.. but i just wanted to improve Knowledge
Thanks

[Q] Less Internal memory (40MB) after flashing Insertcoin 1.1.1

Hi,
Sday I got S-OFF & rooted my Desire with Revolutionary and flashed my first custom ROM Insertcoin 1.1.1.
But after installing the ROM, I have only 40 MB internal memory..
I have done the partition of my SD card with ext3 (512MB).
Am I doing something wrong ??? Can anybody please help what should I do to increase my internal memory...
It's recommended that the EXT size for Insertcoin is 1GB.
Are you using A2SD or CM7 version of the ROM?
I am using CM7 version have 50 apps installed and still have 100MB left.
I am using CM7 version of ROM. Can I change the partition again to 1 GB from 512 MB ?
Also my HBOOT version is 6.93.0.0.1

Yes you can change the partition but you'll likely lose all data on your SD card in the process so make a backup first of your SD card's contents before repartitioning.
You also need to use CM7r2 partition table for your HBoot.
OK. I will take back up then I will repartition to 1 GB.
Can you please tell me, how to change my partition table of HBoot to CM7r2.
Do I need to use Downgrader image first and then flash with CM7r2 image ?

As far as I know, if you just rooted and is still on Bravo Stock partition, you do not need to flash the downgrader. But if you are already on any HBOOT and would want to change, then that's the time you flash the downgrader before flashing your new partition table.
I suggest you check out some threads here first just to be sure since I haven't changed to any other partition yet since I flashed CM7r2. So I have no first hand experience with the downgrader process.
EDIT: Since you used Revolutionary, they might have implemented different security so you may need to flash the Downgrader. Sorry I am not that knowledgeable since I've used Unrevoked when I flashed my device.

You can either use GParted on your computer or your phone's custom recovery to partition your SD card. Most users here I notice recommends GParted. I however partitioned mine via recovery.
I Just formatted and partitioned my SD card with recovery to 1GB. Then I installed A2SD version of Insertcoin 1.1.1 since I have stock HBOOT. Now everything works fine.. Now I have 135 MB free space

Installing InsertCoin, are my partitions correct?

Hi all,
I'm coming from LeeDroid 3.0.7 with A2SD, and I would like to install a more modern rom perhaps with Sense 3.0.
I read the requirements for the latest InsertCoin with Sense 3.0
Requirements:
A2SD CM7 HBOOT - cm7 hboot from alpharev.nl - the one with 130 mB for /system
- 1 gB ext2/3/4 partition
A2SD+ STOCK HBOOT - stock hboot - the one with 250 mB for /system

and I don't really understand them. Can anyone help me out? Does it mean I can have a Stock HBOOT (which mine is) but I have to have 250MB /system partition and a 1GB /ext3 partition?
At present according to system info app I have : 457MB A2SD storage, 148MB Internal storage, 250MB System storage, 40MB system cache, 405MB memory. Does this mean I need to increase the ext3 partition from 512MB to 1GB, and if so is that done by clockworkmod?
thanks, sorry for the long post.
With the stock hboot you already have 250MB /system. You can use Clockwork recovery (v3+) otherwise you would need to use a partition manager. Please bare in mind that to increase your ext partition, it will completely wipe your SD card so make sure you back it up.
thanks for the quick reply. If I manage to increase the ext3 partition to 1GB, am I right in thinking I need CM 3+ anyway in order to flash the rom?

[Q] -Cool3D Sense 3.0 - ext4 not active?

hi, i got a little problem.
i installed this rom on my desire
[ROM][Cool3D Sense 3.0][19 Sep]Cool3D AceS v3 |Android 2.3.5|FAST|STABLE|STOCK|CM7/r2]
i still flashed 1 time a new rom before that, so i still got s-off.
first i backuped & wiped all. then i installed over Clockwork then the rom (cool3d Sense -CM7/r2.
it works. but now im wondering about the message "the memory is full" - should i do something to activate the ext4 partition?
I think you need to move your app to SD manually or you can install the version of the rom with data2ext which is in same page
thx - wil try it on sunday(short holiday) - but i still tried the data2ex version - same problem.

I flashed the "stock users.zip" the memory still shows 139MB and goes on decreasing. I installed some 7-8 apps, mem went down to 108 MB.
A 512 MB ext4 would be OK or do i need a 1024 ext4 partition??

Can someone plz provide a step by step guide to install this ROM?
for this rom all you need to do is flash hboot version cm7/r2, wipe through recovery, create a 1024MB partition through recovery, flash the ext4 align file and flash the rom itself.
if you have no idea what i'm talking about then (new users guide):

After flashing the Rom you still have to flash the weather-pack.zip and a2sd.kd.zip. And that guide is immensely useful for people flashing a new Rom the first time.

Hi,
This is not an attempt to highjack this thread. I am facing a similar issue and hope someone can throw light on it.
I was using Coolexe's Sense 2.1 on by HTC Desire with stock HBoot and EXT4 partition on my memory card and hence had to suffer with 147mb memory.
Recently purchased a Transcend class 10 8GB SDHC memory card with hopes of getting sense 3.0. I followed these steps to install Cool3D sense 3.0 on my phone.
1. Create FAT 32 partition 6.36GB.
2. Create 1024 MB EXT4 partition.
3. Boot to clockworkmod recovery.
4. Installed the zip's in the following order.
i) Alignment_Cool_2.zip
ii) Cool-Sensation-v10.zip
iii) Stock_Users_v10.zip
5. Reboot phone.
Now the phone is working fine and is quite smooth apart from an occasional judder. However my EXT 4 partition does not seem to be active. It still shows 110Mb remaining out of 147Mb!...
Is there any step that I have missed? How do i activate the external partition?
Thanks for the help

First of all, why did you flash Cool Sensation? And it is normal for A2SD+ ROMS. With A2SD+, still not everything is transferred to the EXT partition only the apps and the dalvik cache are transferred there, the rest of the data will still be placed on the internal memory. Hence the decrease in memory. If you want data to be on the ext partition you will have to flash a Data2EXT rom.

No problem. Do not forget to use the thanks-button.
Either with as already GParted or recovery. Recommended recoveries are 4EXT or RMD.
I am familiar with Gparted and Easeus in Windows, but I do not know which format I should hold for CM7.1
- 1 Gig ext 3 or 4?
- 500mb swap?
- The rest fat32
(this is what i had with succes for my previous MIUI rom)
OK.. i created with MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 7.0 (freeware):
13.7 GB FAT32
1.1 GB Ext4
102 MB Linux Swap
Still only 106 MB internal memory left..
What am i doing wrong??
I'm using "update-cm-7.1.0-Desire-signed.zip" straight from the CM website.
...I almost start to think that A2SD is not supported...
Firstly, NEVER EVER partition your SD card MiniTool Partition Wizard!! Use GParted or your recovery.
Secondly, CM7 does not officially support A2SD. You have to flash darktremor's A2SD-script (can be found in CM7-thread here on XDA) in recovery use a2sdGUI from Android Market.
Thirdly, to get full use of CM7 I recommend to go S-OFF and flash CM7r2 Hboot.
Just flash it via recovery. no need of s-off.

Not for now, me being a newbee.
Maybe later when i see the advantages.
Can you tell me what you mean by "to get full use of CM7 I recommend to go S-OFF and flash CM7r2 Hboot"
CM7 along with many of the AOSP ROMs is smaller than sense ROMs. Therefore if you are s -off you can flash a custom hboot Which will reduce the size of your system partition & increase the size of your data partition.
Although many ROMs support apps to ext partitions only a few will move data to the sd partition. By changing the hboot you can make use of the space created by a smaller ROM.

CM7 only needs less than 145 MB on /system partition (I am talking about the desire's internal memory, which usually has this partiton layout: 250 MB /system, 40 MB /cache and 145 MB /data) and only 5 MB for /cache. So by using stock hboot with CM7 you would waste nearly 140 MB space for installing apps. Not very useful, isn't it. So with the CM7r2 Hboot you would get full use of Cyanogenmod.
But beware. You cannot flash the radio via recovery now, because the cache-partition is too small. So you have to do it via fastboot. It may sound scary, but if you are very careful and search better too much than too little and ask if you are completely unsure, nothing can happen. Futhermore, you will find much guides here on XDA which will help you.
