[Q] Automating Driving mode? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hey, does anyone know how to automate the Driving Mode on our phones?
I want it to automatically start and stop with a headphone being attached. Is that possible? I could not find how to do it in Tasker.

That would be amazing and i'd love to hear about this as well, so far I just use 'xiaalive' streaming radio with the dropping ball and such as my driving audio program of choice, but that requires me to actually click play on the widget.

Hi,
The only thing I have succeeded with tasker is to automatically display the text-to-speech settings while connecting a given BT device. Once this window displayed I just have to check the Driving mode box if I want to activate it.
If someone find the trick to directly activate Driving mode : tell me how !

[Q] Need Help Trying To Setup My Phone Like A Car Hub

I got a universal Car Dock and I am trying to do everything hands-free but I am having issues:
1. I am using VLingo and when I get a call, I have to physically answer the call instead of being able to use my voice.
2. When I answer a call it does not automatically go into speakerphone mode, so I have to physically switch it.
3. When navigating to an address, VLingo voice commands no longer work, unless I manually switch.
What I would like, and I don't know if there is something out there that could help:
1. I want to use my voice to do everything from answering calls, navigating, playing music, etc.
2. When in other apps, I still would like voice commands to still work.
If anyone has any insight, or how I can configure things it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I dunno about 100% voice control, but I recently started using a car dock too and hate the default Vlingo car app/mode. I downloaded CarHome Ultra from the market and tested for free. It can automatically disable wifi, enable bloothtooth/connect to device, automatically launch when in the car dock, you can create shortcuts to any apps. I think all voice control would be nice, but I haven't found any that were reliable

[Q] Possibly A Tasker Question

Hello All,
I'm not sure how to have searched for what I'd like to accomplish for lack of "proper" wording?
But, I have the Jabar Free way with two phones. I'd like when my Galaxy Nexus connects that it would play a tone such as a"notification" sound for a text.
If I buy tasker, would I be able to set up a task that when Bluetooth successfully connects to my device, then prompt sound x to play over speaker to let me know it has connected without having to look at the phone and see?
Or is there a simpler way to get a sound alert to play for what I think would be called: Bluetooth Connection Audio Confirmation ?
Yes you can do this with tasker. You can set up a task to run on connection to a specific bluetooth connection and play any sound you like and also pick which sound stream to play it through (speaker, bluetooth audio, etc.) You can also set it to play a sound on disconnect if you wish.
I use tasker to auto launch car dock mode and pandora when connected to my car bluetooth system. Works pretty well.

annoying issue with navigation and Bluetooth audio

Why is there no way to change the audio path? When I'm navigating, I like to hear the voice from my phone. As long as my moto 360 is connected to my phone, the audio is routed to the watch which has no speaker so I hear nothing. This is kinda ridiculous to me that I can't change this like on other Bluetooth devices. I have to disconnect my watch to navigate bc of it.
Am I missing something or can this be fixed in a future update?
EDIT: Fixed! This issue has been fixed by someone. Maybe it was an update to Google maps? I used navigation yesterday and audio came through my phone as all as notifications on my watch. Very cool!
You don't get a voice but should feel a vibration when turn approaches.

Yeah I do, I just prefer to hear the voice and how many lanes turn and all that additional information the voice gives. I can look at the phone and it will tell me but I just prefer the voice. I also found out it will still work if I connect to my car stereo and the audio will come out of the stereo while it does the directions on the watch, so that's my best work around at the moment
Had the same issue yesterday. It was a major disappointment to say the least. Totally disconnected it from the phone which makes the watch almost useless to me

So, while navigating there's no turn-by-turn voice?
That's not good!

Did you also got voice through the stereo with no 360?...
Let's say, only with navigation from your cell...
Thanks...

Yeah me too in my gf's car but my car doesn't have Bluetooth so I have to completely disconnect from my watch if I want voice when navigating in my car

Ya, I use navigation all the time when I'm out of my normal areas of driving. Always comes through my car stereo via bluetooth.
To get the voice to come through on the phone make sure Car Mode is disabled. If it is enabled it will try and send audio through whatever bluetooth connection it has. ...I think
I don't have my watch yet, but try going to the bluetooth settings on the phone and select the watch. If you have a "Media audio" profile with a check mark, try unchecking that. That should reroute that audio to the phone.
Will know for sure Tuesday when I get my 360!

I've never used any sort of car mode
Hey guys, I dunno if someone important at moto or google saw this thread or its just complete coincidence but this issue appears to have been fixed! I used navigation yesterday and the voice came through on my phone as well as my watch buzzing me with the notifications as well! Very cool

Of course. With music streaming, the music would get quiet and the nav would be loud. I've used nav on my phone for ages.

Bluetooth Media Remote

I am trying to use a bluetooth Media Remote. When I search for bluetooth devices the device will appear and when I select it asks if I want to connect. However when I click yes it does not actually connect. I have tried to run XMTC and changed the name from ODB to the name of the device. This changes the icon of the device on the unit however it still does not connect. This appears to be OS\driver issue not a hardware issue since the device is being found.
I have tried two different bluetooth remotes with the same results(from amazon)
Satechi® Bluetooth Button Series (Media Button)
iSimple Portable Wireless Remote Control
I can however connect these to my phone and change the volume on the phone while I am streaming music to the head unit. And this is nice, but I would really like to be able to control the head units volume instead.
Does someone have a custom ROM that could fix my issue?
Edit - was able to resolve my issue. Used xposed framework and bt module to remove the name limitation.

I am glad you were able to resolve your issue. Hoping someone smarter than me can fix mine
Anyone have any ideas how to get other bluetooth devices to work with this system? I expect someone that can build a custom ROM could fix this.

Did anyone ever find out which xposed module this is?
Hey there, I've got the Satechi® Bluetooth Button Series (Media Button) thing too, and surprise surprise, it won't talk to my Pumpkin HU (rk3066, android 4.4.1, mcu KLD2).
I've rooted the stock using the #hct#root# trick and installed SuperSU. I would love to get the button working!
I've got my head unit installed in my right-hand drive car (am in UK) - and where it's mounted, it is just out of reach unless I lean forward - so I can't really use it without looking, apart from using the tiny buttons down the side.
Happy to try the xposed framework but like OP I don't know which modules to use to get a USB BT dongle working. Any help greatly appreciated!
I definitely may be wrong but I assumed he was referring to the Xposedmtc module (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54334741) in the OBD settings where you specify the string. Though I assumed this only worked for OBD devices. I tried using it to pair an iRadar device with mine but was unsuccessful.
Oh, poop. Thanks all the same. Will keep an eye on this thread and report back if I ever get anywhere! Could it be that these HU's are only Bluetooth 2.0 compatible? Every device I've seen seems to be 3.0...
Hmmm. I'm thinking of getting a cheap wired USB numberpad (they're like £3) and using it with a keyboard mapper like this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apedroid.hwkeyboardhelper
and this list:

Oh and this is as much a note to self as anything!

It's going to be ugly...but that's never stopped me
Bumping as I have interest too.
You guys are making this way too difficult. Check this out. It works great on my joying.

Anyone has found which xposed bt module the op was talking about ? I have already bought the bluetooth remote but I can't connect to it. (Works on my phone)
Also bought a Satechi® Bluetooth Button Series (Media Button) for use with my Joying unit but alas no success, so bumping this thread to see if there is any progression.
@dcmtnbkr are you able to show a quick video of your unit in action?
For the people that have gotten their bluetooth "remotes" to work, can you simultaneously also pair your phone and perform calls?

I bought much the same device but it won't directly connect to my HU. The HU will connect to my phone and my phone connect to media controller so I know all the devices work. Do I need a Droid program to allow access directly to the HU which is playing music from a USB flash drive.
Main problem is HU has panel controls for volume but cannot skip a song with going into player program. I use the display for my engine management gauges and don't want to keep getting out of program just to skip a song I don't like.
jim
I'm familiar with the one you're talking about, it's not the same thing.
I found another one that would work and is less intrusive.

[Q] Bluetooth autoplay on connect

Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem that I think shouldn't happen on this phone.
I'm stock with the latest January update on Android 10.
Info: this problem was present before the update to 10.
Whenever I connect any Bluetooth device (airpods, car, moto intercom ,etc) I have to manually unpause the music to get it to start.
This happens on every player (Samsung Music, Google Play, YouTube premium, etc)
This is the first Android phone I have that doesn't do this and that shouldn't be seeing it's top tier.
I've looked online and it seems that all Samsung phones have this feature and the only topics I get are how to disable it !?
Can anyone shed some light ? Is it happening to you as well ?
Thanks
I may not have the answer that you want to hear but I did find a temporary solution. There's an app in the play store nRF Connect that works. Slide over to bonded, put devices in pairing mode and hit scan and wah lah. Any questions I'll do the best I can to help.
I've noticed the same on my galaxy buds, but when I connect another pair of wireless earbuds that i sometimes use they connect as soon as i turn them on when Bluetooth is activated, without me manually having to go into the settings and do it. Not sure the reason for this. Would've thought the earbuds that's actually made by Samsung would be the ones connecting right away.

Hej...
I don't if this would help You...
When I got the Note 10+ there's Was, out of the box on initial settings, active few Bixby Routines... and that, till i figure out this, was driving me crazy... When I turn Bixby Routines off everything back to normal...
Well I've had a similar problem. For me the issue is that it always autostart even tho I have BT autoplay unchecked in the car. If I have listen to any music, audio books, podcasts and turn them of when I exit the car, not leave them in the background, they will start playing even if the cars media system is offline.
Works perfectly with my wifes OnePlus 6, but not for me. Extreamly annoying to noticed that the audio book is playing after a 60min drive and I haven't heard anything..
I tried the app Tasker, it was a compleat waste of $4 for me anyway, didn't work, will try nRF Connect now.
I don't want to have BT of due to that I aways have my Jabra buds with me so that I can talk while driving if needed.
