[Q] Video recording problem after rooting with unrevoked - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having a problem after rooting via unrevoked my cellphone stuck/stop working while recording video i have flashed Insertcoin's 2.1 A2SD 1.1.3 ROM last time i rooted via revolutionary.io n inserted the same rom, that time video recording was workin' fine, what do u guys think?what went wrong?

Why did you root your phone two times?
Try another rom to preclude it's the rom.

OH yeah have another problem when i lower my desire's brightness to almost 0% black colors on my screen turns to be as purple color :/ what kinda problem is this?

If you answer my questions / try my suggestion, I will answer your second question.

First thing i rooted using revolutionary tools at the first place flashed sum roms then finally found insertcoin 2.1 a2sd it was working fine.
Second i used RUU to revert back to the stock rom n all that coz i wanted to give my cell to sum one else.
Third i didnt gave my cell so decided to root again but i couldnt as my cell (still) was S-OFF n my H-BOOT version was updated so i couldnt root it again using revolutionary, there was no clockworkmod as well,no SuperUser then i tried to install CWM through SD card it didnt help too.after 3 hours of search n trouble n experimentation i decided to root it again
Thats y i decided to root my cell via Unrevoked

Okay, now try another rom.

Dude the thing is i used the same rom both times n yeah most probably changing the rom will help but i want this rom

bump bump bump

Okay!!! the thing is i've flashed a new rom n the problem persists

Flash gingerbread RUU, use revolutionary.io and flash the rom you want again. Further and detailed information can be found in bortaks guide.

1st do i have to unroot before flashing gingerbread RUU?coz last tym i didnt unrooted my device before flashin RUU n i had many troubles such as CWM wasnt installed nor superuser while Security was off.
2nd my hboot version is updated n the updated (hboot version) is not available in revolutionary.io
3rd i'd really appreciate if u post links here (gingerbread RUU n bortaks guide)
n thx alot for ur tym mate

If you flash RUU, you will loose S-OFF, root and recovery. Furthermore, your hboot will be updated to 1.02.0001 (GSM Desire). This hboot version is supported by revolutionary.io.
Just to be sure: You have a GSM desire right?

yup its GSM

Okay, so you can do what I told you.
Sent from ICS with Transparent XDA App

Man can u share the RUU's link what u want me to flash???

Talking about this ruu?
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...Bravo&file=HTC_Desire_Android_2.3_Upgrade.zip

Should be, but I recommend to take the one from htcdev.com:
http://www.htcdev.com/process/legal_download/152

Man my ruu is stuck at 72% (updating system) its been 25 mins now what should i do now?

okay the thing is i've used another ruu n my current hboot version is 6.93.1002 where on the other side revolutionary.io only supports 0.93.0001 n 1.02.0001 :/

Cancel process, flash hboot_downgrader from alpharev-website, then run RUU again.

[Q] rooting hboot 0.83 and amoled screen

if i root my desire with hboot 0.83, soft number 1.24.161.3 using unrevoked, ill get clockwork mod recovery and be able to flash custom/offical unbranded unrooted roms ?
Yes, this is exactly what I have done. I was having trouble with the windows version of unrevoked3, However the linux version worked perfectly.
awsome, thanks. maybe ill try it tomorrow then. apart from problem with unrevoked did you run into any other problems?
No I've not run into any problems as of yet.
After using unrevoked I flashed this ROM:
hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741775 ( Sorry I can't post links)
I made sure that I flashed the radio ROM first though to ensure that I didn't suffer the SIM lock issue which can affect Orange UK users with this update so if you Orange you might want to make sure you that first as well.

[Q] Strange Unrooting Problems

I purchased my Desire back in June and as soon as i found out about rooting
i used the one click unrevoked 3 method. Due to it being unbranded i didnt need a gold card i simply did so. After which i had problems installing some roms and its become too difficult so ive decided to unroot it and use it as it was meant to be until i gain more knowledge.
My problem is no matter which RUU i use following the unlocker method nothing works. I continue to get the error that none of the RUUs are suitable for my phone.
I have looked through the other posts but couldnt find an answer that worked for me.
my radio is 32.44.00.32u_5.09.05.30_2
Im running AuraxTSense 7.6.1 Froyo FRF91 by NeoPhyTe
Can anyone help me?

Hi,
Is your Hboot 0.93 ?
try this RUU : http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed.exe
Enter bootloader (vol.dw+power), then plug the phone to USB and run the RUU it should work...
Have u installed HTC Sync again after using unrevoked?
U need the htc drivers installed
Have u tried LeeDroid?
Running stable and fast in my Desire, I rooted nd unrooted the phone twice, but every time i go back to unroot status i get bored, so root again, i think u should try another ROM first before unroot, try mine : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768703
Download de ROM,
Install thru ROM Manager or directly thru Recovery, but remember to Wipe data before u install make a clean install, if u still experience any issues go back to Stock...
My Hboot is 0.93.0001
Ill try the RUU tomorrow when i have enough time at my disposal
Although ill try leedroid first just in case. Hopefully it works and is good enough
thanks for the help
Just curious, but did it work?

rooting 2.2

I know this question has been asked a lot of time, but im android noob and i didnt find on google anything simple to me..
Can I root my wildfire 2.2 ?
i was searching and they say i need to downgrade to v2.1 and i found something they say i can root v2.2 . But how to downgrade ?
I want to root him cuzz i want to install v2.3
and sorry for my bad english but i think you can understand...
if u r on android 2.2 with hboot 1.01 then u cannot root by any software method as far as now. A paid, expensive hardware solution (xtc clip) is available presently to root your phone. It not only roots ur phone, but also turns ur phone to S-OFF.
There is a Noobs Guide to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1
But with that, even if u downgrade to 2.1, ur hboot will remain the same which still makes the phone unrootable. Now make ur choice, do u want unrootable eclair or unrootable froyo on your device. I hope u wont opt for eclair.
just search for a while lol. It has been answered many times here on xda.
sorry, but what is hboot and how can i know is my hboot 1.01 ? :S

HBOOT of wildfire is similar to the BIOS of a computer motherboard.
to know about ur phone hboot, just switch off the device and then by holding volume down key press the power button. there will be something displayed on the screen like,
BUZZ PVT SHIP S-ON or
BUZZ PVT SHIP S-OFF.
it also says ur hboot version. u can root if ur hboot version is 0.80.x but i dont think u have that version.
it says
BUZZ PVT SHIP S-ON
hboot-1.01.0001
then,it can not be rooted ?

That tutorial in the above link (A solution for downgrade cn froyo2.2) works for those who flashed the previously leaked chinese version of froyo. That chinese version of froyo doesn't have the hboot 1.01 (not to be sure but i think it has the hboot 0.83).
Many people are getting confused with that thread. One thing is pretty sure that, as far as now the hboot 1.01 with s-on cannot be rooted with any software methods [Or even hboot 1.01 cannot be downgraded to 0.80 untill today]
recently @dannyjmcguinness has successfully downgraded the hboot 1.01.0002 to hboot 1.01.0001 with s-on. But it gives nothing to users because both those hboots are unrootable. It might lead to some good news in the future.

hi, I'm new register member here, but i read forum for a long time, and it was very useful. Now i have one question and decide to register and ask.
The thing is, i have wildwire, hboot is 0.80.007, i rooted with unrevoked and i instal RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.37.405.1_Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25_release_151892_signed.
Today i found this thread [ROM]Safe Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1 | No Hboot | No Radio | No Rooted & Rooted and instal rooted version. Now I'm 2.21 software version, i can move apps to sd card, and above all i think I'm still rooted.
My question is how this is possible if they said that froyo can't be rooted, and advice is not to upgrade to 2.2 version.

u said that ur hboot is 0.80.0007 and rooted with unrevoked and then installed the 1st RUU. But installing that official RUU will make ur phone unrooted.
And that [ROM]Safe Buzz_Froyo is a rooted rom with both "no rooted" and "rooted" versions. U said that u installed the rooted version. ok fine.
Actually im on unrootable official froyo with hboot 1.01 and S-ON from the past 4 months. I havent tried any rooted official roms to say whether u r still rooted or not. I have the doubt whether rooted official roms can be installed only in the rooted wildfire or not. I expect they can be installed only in the rooted wildfire (as they are zip files, not exe files). If that is the case, then ur phone is still rooted. I would search and let u know if i got confirmed.
Alternatively, u can check it with "root only" apps like busybox. have a try

Pretty sure it is possible. Because it is not like, "FROYO CANT BE ROOTED". The point is wildfire HBOOT 1.01 with S-ON can't be rooted. WILDFIRE ROOT depends on hboot and nand security flag. And rooting (in NAND locked devices) has nothing to do with eclair or froyo or gingerbread . And what everyone needs to know here is, "official update not only updates the os to froyo but also updates other things like hboot, radio, recovery (which solely makes the phone unrootable)".
That is the reason why they removed the hboot and radio in the above rooted rom u have mentioned.
thanks for reply, now the things come to a place
something like that was on my mind but i was unsure and confused.
Im installed zip file from sdcard, power on with volume down, etc... now i tried some terminal app where they said that if you type su, it will ask for super user permission and # sign need to appear instead of $ sign. It worked like a charm so i think that im still rooted
So ''don't update to froyo'' thing is only for those users who want OTA update, because of hboot updating, and unable to root new hboot?
Do you know what would be happened that i installed RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed, Will my hboot become 1.xxx?

U have got super user permissions. So, yes ur phone is rooted for sure. That is what root means actually (getting su permissions).
Yes, that "don't update to froyo" warning is only for users who wish to make the OTA update (without loosing root) from htc.
And again yes, by installing that RUU, ur HBOOT will become 1.01 because it had the latest Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10
--Official ruu / ota updates with Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10 will always have the HBOOT 1.01.000x
--And official ruu's with Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25 and Radio_13.45.55.24H_3.35.15.31 will have the HBOOT 0.80.000x

[Q] HTC Desire 2.3.3(Ginge) Downgrade to 2.2 Foyo?

G'day peeps,
I really didnt want to post this. Ive scoured for hours and hours though and although Ive found lots of downgrade threads from Gingerbread to Froyo the reported Radio version is always different to mine. As is the software version.
So heres my predicament. I (stooopidly) upgraded to Gingerbread but want root access!
The only way I can see me being able to get root access is if a downgrade is possible?
Here's my phone report
HTC Desire (NOT HD)
Android Version 2.3.3
Baseband Version 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23
Build Number 3.14.405.1 CL96875 release-keys
Software Number 3.14.405.1
I believe my Hboot to be 1.06 or something.
Do I have any chance at all? And if so where can I find some destructions?
Thanks guys
http://revolutionary.io
You can root gingerbread, go to revolutionary.io
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Thanks guys. I had actually bookmarked http://revolutionary.io as a possible.
Im very pleased, now I have performed an entire backup and flashed cyanogenmod v7 (stable)
Runs like a dream and vrey customisable too
Now Ive a few more questions?
I am interested in trying out a few more roms to find the "one" I think I could be happy with for a while.
Heres are the roms Im interested in:
Virtuous Unity v2.35.0
Uncommon Sense
Sense-o-Villain
and very interested in TwoPointTwo
However, Warm for example states I need to download radio/wiimax updates.
Other roms have similiar requirements. Like a CM7 Hboot rev2 etc.
I've tried to work our if its safe or not for me to instll any of these and as far as I can tell it isnt.
Thanks again for all the help
Unable to downgrade
I tried all methods of downgrading but there is no success. But I have successfully rooted my HTC Desire running 2.3.3 with revolutionary.io method + CWD + su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.
Is there anyone in this world downgraded Gingerbread to Froyo?? I also have the same radio version 5.17.05.23 , but whenever I try to downgrade it says "main version is older update failed".

what is the ruu that u used?
if u want a froyo rom, just flash a rom from the recovery
if u want go back to stock froyo (why u should do this? u need warranty?) then fastboot flash the bravo downgrader hboot from alpharev.nl then the froyo ruu
Teppic74's downgrader used to downgrade 2.2 to 2.1 regardless of Hboot. The only thing it needed was temp root which it did for you.
Obviously the exploit used to root Froyo no longer works in GB, but if it already has root, it may work.
Heres the thread.
Although there is some question about erase size 40,000 devices so I would keep an eye on this thread for information purposes rather than jum, ping in and breaking things

its reported to work millions of time..the bravo downgrader is a 0.93 hboot..and the last froyo ruu has the same hboot version...
anyway when u have s-off, with fastboot u can flash every hboot u wish (its not like the ruu, there is no check in fastboot flash command)
I tried that myself and it failed due wrong bootloader version.

mean u can't fastboot flash an older hboot over a new one? which were ur hboots?
the bravo downgrader hboot from alpharev doesn't have a downgrade protection, over that u can run every ruu to overwrite it, thats what aplharev say

1. do your backups
2. use revolutionary.io to S-OFF and CWM
2. get

4. root using unrevoked 3 (not able to use external links yet, google it up)
Hope it will help

[HELP] Problems with Desire after recovery

Hi guys,
I´ve got a stock Desire with Android 2.2.2. (OTA update some two years ago). Some days ago I noticed my camera was not working nor did the flashlight app. After turning off and on the device a couple of times the flashlight started working again but not the camera. Trying to fix what I thought might be a software problem I went into Hboot menu and into recovery and selected reboot. Nothing seemed to have changed until i noticed my battery was only lasting for 4 or 5 hours when it used to last at least 1,5 days. Also, I just noticed my 3G mobile network connection is not working either.
How may I correct this? I've already tried a factory reset but without success. I was just looking at an youtube video from a XDA member about flashing RUU's and thought that it might do it. Is there a difference between flashing a RUU and a factory reset? I'm not very confortable doing it as I've never rooted or flashed any device, but I'm willing to take the chance...
Thanks for your support...
Flashing a ruu is basically reinstalling the stock firmware. Factory resetting is just wiping the data on the phone.
If you want to flash a ruu, check my sig. Download the 2.3 ruu. Don't change the zip name. Take the zip and put it on the root of your sd-card, and boot in hboot. Then select "yes" and wait.
This will upgrade your firmware to Android 2.3.3, which is faster than froyo, but it will wipe all your internal data.
merante ridicule
Thank you for your reply.
Now it´s clearer to me. Factory reset doesn't correct any system issues.
I already found the RUU i currently have on my phone, but maybe I could upgrade to 2.3. Does the RUU in your sig work for my Desire?
My data are:
Andriod version: 2.2.2.
Baseband: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel: 2.6.32.15-gfa401c
Software number: 2.29.405.14
Just a small update concerning the battery issue: it seems to be the battery itself which is the problem. I installed a new one last night and now battery behaviour is back to normal. I will try the old one again though, in order to be sure it's gone.
The ruu in my sig works for your desire. It actually works for almost every Bravo on the market.
Thank you once again.
I just managed to correct my 3G problem also. I didn't restore the network definitions after the factory reset (didn't know I had to or how it is done ), but after a quick call to tech support it is fixed.
Now I will probably give the RUU update a try and also root and s-off (must resaerch a little more - XDA forum has tones of good info :good...
In my sig, there's a Desire All Root guide. Check it out.

Followed the guides above and now my Desire is rooted, s-offed using revolutionary and 4ext recovery is installed and I've partitioned my new 32 GB sdcard with 2GB ext4. Sadly, I've not updated to android 2.3.3 with the PB99IMG RUU, so I'm still with the 2.2.2.
But, even after sd partition, my available internal memory has not increased. What do I have to do to install all new apps on the sd?
If I update now for 2.3.3. using PB99IMG will I lose root and s-off? If I have to flash a new rom, which do you suggest? I'm used to the stock htc sense and don't really want to upgrade unless I have to.
I would really appreciate any suggestions...
Tks.
Don't use the RUU. You will lose root and s-off. Just install a custom rom, and your storage will increase.

Thank you for your reply :good:.
Could you please suggest a stable rom based on gingerbread with htc sense (early versions prefered) and also point out a detailed noob friendly tutoorial for flashing roms? I must do some more research but if you could point me out in the right direction it would be very useful
Sorry to be such a pain in the a**, but I'm just getting started in the rom world and not very tech inclined also...
Tks.
