I also had a problem, when I tried to install the Atrix music player. The solution was to copy it to system/app folder (with root explorer or a similar app), change permissions and reboot phone. (Thanks to spear1403 for that advice.)

I did try the mod above and lost my stock Music player. I did rename it back by deleting .bak from the name but the stock icon is gone. Can somebody help get back my stock Music player. I have CM7 Music player now. Help me get rid of that. Thanks.
having a problem with the stock player too, i'm not able to install the stock player and i dont know how to reinstall it with the musicplayer.apk and cant find the original music.apk
Here comes the stock musicplayer from XWKE7. Your phone have to be rootet.
Extract the ZIP-File and copy the musicplayer.apk and musicplayer.odex in system/app (use Root Explorer or Super Manager - overwrite existing files).
Set attributes of musicplayer.odex to rw-r-r--.
Reboot your Phone - now it should work.
thanks, worked perfect
Hey guys I don't know how to make Music.apk run after installing it on Walter's Defy+ ROM...
I searched the forum and did what ppl say: put Music.apk to system/app and change permissions to rw-r--r-- reboot the phone.
After that, depending of Music.apk, I have immediate FC (with CM7 Music.apk)or I can enter the app and get FC after selecting music track to play (with MS2Ginger 1.1 Music.apk)
I really don't like BlurMusic.apk so I would like to change it somehow
Please help...
ps. After removing every Music app from phone I managed to install Leaked Google Music app 4.0.1: Link
But that way it's not system app but User's...And I don't like this Music app that much (widget is so ugly and stupid)
try PlayerPro
It's my favorite music player app and you can install light blue skin that nicely goes with 2.3.4 blur firmware.

copy music.apk in system/app via root explorer(before copying press 'mount r/w' icon at the top, it will than change to r/o). long press the file you just copied. from the menu choose permissions and from there enable read/wright/execute in user category. then reboot
Nope, it's not gonna happen
So, Im using ES file explorer, but with root rights and mounted File system...I did change permissions to rwx r-- r--, and rebooted, and FC
Tried with cm7 Music.apk, with miui Music.apk, with MS2Ginger 1.1 Music.apk...
I don know what else should I try...Maybe reflash the whole thing and start from the beggining?
Oh yeah, I uninsttaled blur Music.apk...Maybe that is why nothing is workin...But that is a silly thought
............
Or just install PlayerPro

ahh,next to ics rom.
Problem 1:
Some users find that the Swype is force closing, and the absence of gallery and music in App drawer.
If you face this problem, here is what you can do:
1. Using root explorer, delete Swype.apk from System/app (or) uninstall swype using link2sd.
2. Try looking for play music and gallery ics apk in system /app. If present MOVE them to SD card using root explorer. Tap rw at the top to move.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the following attached apk's in the post: SwypeICS.apk, and GalleryICS.apk, Google play music. apk or from the apks which you just moved to your SD card. For better performance of play music, again move the apk to System /app...and set permissions to rwrr. (Tick the first two boxes in the first row and the 1st box in the other two rows) and reboot.
5.Enjoy.
Problem 2:
ICS Gallery is not working on my phone.
Solution:Have you done it properly? Try again. I've fixed the link. Still if it doesn't work, I'm afraid you will have to install the old Gingerbread Gallery. Copy and paste gallery3D.apk from attachments into System/app using root explorer, set permissions to rwrr and reboot.
Problem 3:
Status Bar does not appear.
Solution: Re Install the ROM from beginning. It happened because the flashing was not done properly.

Hi. Is it possible to get the good old walkman apk for our devices, like in the attached "walkman.jpg"?
To me it's a little annoying to drag in from the left to get in to albums, instead of just having it all at start-screen See "screenshot.jpg".
Did u try to install older version of walkman?
Id it wont work only way will be root, delete walkman and than install older
Sent using SO-01D - Gin2KitKat/LuPuS_GB
Succes
Tried to delete SemcMusic.apk from system/app, but everytime I booted up, walkman showed up as normal.
Had to delete it in data/app folder too, then push old walkman to system/app - reboot - then install as normal app from within system/app folder.
It's the good old walkman layout again. The way I like it
Thanks for your reply :good:
Hello, i have flashed AOKP ROM to my Galaxy S4 Mini GT-I9195. There is missing music player. My favourite music player was in official samsung rom but i don't know how to install samsung's music player as a system app. Root Explorer can't move MusicPlayerWT.apk to system/app (even with root) so I don't know what to do. Someone knows how could i install it? Btw installation as normal app fails.
Isn't that player needs tw framework?
I'm afraid he's right. Stock music player wont open on different rom than stock. But if I'm wrong first if You're rooted install BusyBox and then mount system as rw (or use Solid Explorer it makes it automatically), copy apk to system/app, set permissions as rest system apps (just check any system app permissions cause I don't remember now which exactly it should be) and reboot system.
Unfortunately, after moving music player to system/app and setting permissions as rest system apps and rebooting, It doesn't show in app list.
Do You have odexed/deodexed rom?? If You have odexed You need to move also odex file but if deodexed You must deodex apk file but still it's small chance it gonna work on non tw rom.
I probably have deodexed rom because i don't see any .odex files in system/app. How to deodex it (if it even would have work)? Or is it possible to install TW framework on AOKP rom (idk is It silly idea i got)?
