I have a replacement card but what files need to be on it? I haven't turned the phone on yet so I want to make sure I have what I need on the SD card first. Sorry for the noob question but I have no idea what I'm doing with these phones. Thanks.
I believe all you need to do is just turn it on. I changed an sd card in my og epic and it just loaded necessary files when I turned on phone.

I transferred all my pics and etc. to my laptop. from my 1st epic, formatted the sd card, and use it on my epic touch a month after I bought the phone. So really you dont need any files loaded.

That's what I did too. I had a 16GB card that I bought for my Evo. Only thing I had that I needed to keep was music. I just copied all my music to my computer, formatted the SD card, and put my music back on.

I didn't format just put my old card in my new phone

Yeah I did the same. Worked fine.
Until I accidentally formatted it and lost a year and a half of files

I put in my friends sd card in my phone and it read it immediately...so I know there is something wrong with my card...other than my phone, I don't have a reader...should I get one?..so I can either format and try to save the card or at least get the data from it's not too important of data but it would be useful.

Yes. You need a card reader and the sd mini chip adaptor.
Do you BONSAI?
Since I don't yet know what bonsai is...(was about to root phone finally ), no, I don't use it...also, can anyone recommend a good card reader?

Most are the same. If you have a local Walmart or Best Buy go there. You can always return it and order a cheaper one online. The speed is usually in the chip, not the card reader.
Oh and Bonsai is the most awesome, stable, bug free ROM I have ever used. On 4.0.1 now and been with them since 3.0.1.
Ok. This is the weirdest thing ever. My mom phone was stock. She didn't really do much. All of a sudden her phone started rebooting. It just reboots out the blue. She doesn't have any unusual apps either.
A factory reset didn't do anything, so Sprint is going to give her a replacement. It'll be here Friday. So in the mean time I decided to root it to see if that would fix the problem, but it didn't. It's still rebooting.
What could be causing that problem? I rooted, and put on Blazer 4.1 GB ROM. I'm about to try an ICS ROM to see if that would help. What's strange is that even after changing the ROM, the problem persisted. I'm guessing it's hardware related?
Its just the phone . That happened to my sisters e4gt. Started rebooting. All stock. Took it into sprint. And they gave her a replacement. Now it doesnt happen.

Update: So I flashed an ICS ROM and it's not rebooting. I think I found the culprit. My mom's SD card that came with the phone wasn't reading on my computer. So I was using another one I had. I forgot to switch them out when the phone booted, but now the phone seems to be ok.
I put the SD card in my phone and my phone wouldn't read the SD card and also it went into Kernel Panic Upload Mode. So I'm guessing there's a problem with the SD card. Glad I found that out. LoL!!

This is interesting i have been getting random shutdowns lately too on ics and gb. I suspect my aftermarket battery so today I switched back to stock battery. I will have to try the sdcard thing if it continues. Thnx for the tip.

Oh it doesn't? LoL!! I've had SD cards for so long that I forget. LoL!! Yea, then that makes it even worst. She had a 2GB SD card. Actually, you're right. She had my Samsung Memoir and the SD card went with that. She wanted to keep the pictures. I'm guessing the memory card died out or something. LoL!! IDK. All I know is that when I took that SD card out, the phone started working perfectly.

You should back up/move whatever files you want on that sd card to your computer and then try formatting it and check if it still causes issues.

This is an issue with our ET4g. I have this issue and found many others in other forums do too. I have found many reasons that people suggested the caused; battery, rom, SDcard, wifi, or and apps... There are many suggestions to also limit the reboots. For me, when it reboots, I make sure wifi is off or turn it off and let it start up normally. One suggested to take out sdcard when it boots up, and then insert it after it booted. I wonder if the S2 bug has anything to do with it.

When I got my E4GT I took the sd card out of my HTC Hero and put it in this phone. It worked ok for a day or two, then I started getting reboots and frozen screens. Someone in the forums suggested pulling the sd card which I did and the phone was happy again. I backed up the files on the card and reformatted it while in the S2. Never had another problem.
Do my son got a hold of my phone today. All my pics in my gallery are Kobe and now my phone doesn't recognize my SD card. Please any help. Thanks.

EDIT: Just tried the SD card in my pc and it does get recognized.
Strange
Not sure if this helps. I had an issue with my galaxy s2 where it didn't read my sdcard unless I firmly pressed down on the battery cover. Turns out that it was a hardware issue with the reader not making enough contact with the card. Swapped for a new device at the store before my 14 days ended.
Thanks for the reply. Oddly, the card does not work at all. Tried it in my PC with an adapter and no go. Going to swap it out. Thanks!
Try a few different adapters
I have around 7 adapters and only 2 work
Also format it to fat32

Okay, I've not really payed much attention to my Play at all, I've probably picked it up once this week to realize the sd card was not being read, after formatting it and trying over 3 sd cards I come to believe something is up with the phone itself, My S3 also cannot read the sd card, any suggestions, I think its an issue with the phone itself, I've flashed back to gingerbread and still nothing.

Format it with a computer.
This worked for me...
Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.
If the microSD is not being read, put it in a BlackBerry. The Blackberry should ask you to format the card so it will be usable. For some reason, this worked for me and now my microSD is working fine. I already added a new UHS-1 card by Sandisk to my cart before I tried to fix it. It saved me some money .

I'm having issues with my Samsung 64gb card as well. It keeps getting corrupted when any file it's saved to it. The phone gives a notification saying SD card inserted. I cannot mount the card anymore, and it is unreadable on my PC as well. Been searching for a solution without finding one. I too bought the card from Amazon. This is really bugging me. I hope I don't have to get a replacement, this phone has worked great. I just got this card for Christmas, and now I'm having issues. I did have a 32gb SanDisk in it before Christmas - never an issue. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have the Samsung pro 64g card. I had zero problems after I reformatted it to ntfs. I had issues when it was on its default formatting (exfat). Try ntfs!
Hope that helps!

Ok, so I just finished formatting ntfs. Plugged the card into my g3, and the phone now shows a notification that says "SD card is blank or has an unsupported filesystem". The phone now wants to format the card. Did I miss something, or is this correct? I just formatted ntfs -which took forever- and now I need to format again? I must have screwed up...IDK. I'll wait for some more guidance.

Found some advice here stating to just let the phone format it. Same thing happens, man. Phone finds and reads the card after formatting. Everything looks great. My phone then starts to sync Google music and at some point the card becomes unreadable after writing to the card. This is driving me crazy.
