Anyone have a link to CWM tar file? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

The link in the other forum is dead. It's titled "eg30plus-1.1.0.0.tar" i think.

I can't upload the file on here. What's your email? I can send you it because it's like 8MB and this forum only allows up to 7MB I believe.

PM sent. thanks!

You don't want to use that kernel, I have released two far better solutions since that kernel.. stock repack, and LoStKernel..

CWM tar file I can use for epic 4G SPH-D700
Hello everyone I need a CWM tar file I can use for epic 4G SPH-D700 (via ODIN). Everytime I run into a post the links go nowhere are either invalid , no longer there or take me to other websites that include bull**** sites. Even got the Microsoft website that says I need to call them immediately.
I had rooted my phone once but no longer can I now have 3e recovery that doesn't have a way to turn off file verification....just four options no advanced options
Are there any other CWM's that can be used as is with ODIN that don't need to be unzipped?
Please send to me

ORIGINAL NON ROOTED Galaxy Tab stock ROM for Verizon.

I know Stock unrooted Files are hard to come by for the Verizon GT. They need to be flashed using Heimdall. When your phone reboots power it down as soon as you see The Samsung boot screen. Go into restore ( up volume + power button ) release the power after 3 seconds and.continue holding up until it goes into restore. Then wipe data and cache and reboot. And there you go. Pre updated unrooted stock I800!
And here are the STOCK UNROOTED Files. ENJOY!

And for those that needed the Modem file as well...heres the link for it.
Link removed for the time being. Will post a working one ASAP

Chris not to pee on your party...but those files in that thread are not what the op is referring to. If you use the files from the link you gave they are original files, but you will be rooted. So while it may be in the wrong section, the files this poster is offering is a rare commodity.

It would be more than great if you could also provide boot and Sbl files, as secondary bootloader is responsible for modem initialization. Thanks in advance!
Pity to know, but modem file is corrupted just like the other ones we had around, it just contains FF's if you open it in HEX editor. So if you still have 3G, don't flash it.

There's usually a .tar packed up with odin that is stock ec05 no root.....
The file should read something like "stock-sph-d700-odin.tar" or something along those lines
Do you want root or not because if you do still want it rooted you can just flash chris41g's stock ec05 plus rom through odin..... ill throw a link up in a few just in case......
yes please post a link i tried using samsungs tool but it dosent do crap
This might help
I don't know if you've tried this, but qbking77 has some really good videos on YouTube.
This might help:

this will be your fresh starting point for EC05 just flash this and then you can decide to change it to ext4 fs and flash customs

How to flash roms with Mobile Odin Pro

I have read that some people prefer to use Mobile Odin Pro to flash roms, kernels and such in place of CWM. I know how to use it when the files are in the tar format but I am wondering if there is a way to flash roms that are in the zip format and made for CWM? Am I missing something or did I misunderstand what I read?
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
unfortunately if its in zip I believe its only through cwm. just like regular odin.
OK, so the roms have to be in the tar format. Is there a way to repack the zip into a tar that can be flashed via Mobile Odin Pro?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Not really sure about this but if you use root explorer and press and hold on a file it will give you an option to convert to tar file or something like that. Idk if that would work or not but just happened to notice it last night.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
although rootexplorer does format it into tar it won't flash via odin or mobile odin. the only way I know of is to have a linux partition on your computer. other than having linux it won't work. it may be in tar format but it needs to know where to put those file in which place. and just converting it to tar doesn't work. I have even tried putting a pit file in with the files in a tar and it didn't work.
OK, that's what I thought but I figured I'd ask. Thanks for your answers.

lol thats not true.. yes .zips are made for cwm, but if you notice in mobile odin pro it can actually open certain types of files and extract the different parts of it to flash such as kernel, modem, etc. etc. this is how i flashed a zip through mobile odin pro, however for whatever reason gave me issues with the modem.. on ICS, I had to flash rogue fb17 kernel to get cwm back, then flashed the fb21 modem through cwm. either way, there is a way to extract the files from the .zip to be flashed in mobile odin.. there is a setting in the app that says open and extract the files.. have a look see! besides all that, I love mobile odin and prefer to use it when possible over using cwm anyday..
well I do not doubt that you used it. however I have many roms in. zip format. when I try to use the extract feature the only ones I can extract from are the. tar and tar.md5 files. maybe I'm messing up or something.
I have tried to open zip files using the method you suggested and it's like it doesn't see the zip file in the directory I put it in.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
when I do it I look in the directory and it only sees the tar files I have of the stock tars I have in the same directory. I have looked into it on chainfires thread and it makes no mention from what I have seen of flashing rom zips.

ya it is a full rom. but its in tar format. I was under the impression from the other poster in here zip were flashable too. I realize that what cwm is for. I have used mobile odin many times. and I'm almost positive it does not flash zips. just figured if he did it he might want to share.
hmmm
My plan was to only use m.o. to flash, (after root via 2c) so I'll have to figure this out...

I could flash my kernel using 'zImage' file using Mobile ODIN.
TLR Version. Don't. If it was meant for CWM use it in CWM.
I don't think you guys are going to have any luck with that. When (Mobile) odin flashes a tar file it is flashing a factoryfs.img. When CWM flashes a zip it copies the files over.
You could, in theory*, convert the flash-able zip into a flash-able tar by moving the files in the zip into a proper factoryfs.img or a system.img... but its not really an easy task and you're VERY likely to end up with a (almost**) permanent brick and or paperweight.
So just don't. You can flash Kernels and full system restores tars with it, but other than that, I wouldn't play with it.
* I say in theory because I'm not gonna test it. I don't see why I wouldn't, but there is no reason to risk anything.
**You could probably unbrick it with a JTAG, but that is a whole different mess.
Clearing cache before flashing
I'm a beginner. My last cell phone was very old and could only make calls, and I jumped into the s3 because I heard it's a good phone.
I've figured out how to root it and unlock it, and I have installed mobile odin pro. I copy the zipped rom directly to my phone and start mobile odin pro, which asks me if I want to unzip the rom and install it. Well, yes, I do. So it goes about doing its thing, reboots, and fails. I have tried installing three different roms with the same result each time.
My question is this: will mobile odin pro automatically clear the cache, the darvik cache and so on? Or should I do this manually from within the mobile odin pro app before flashing the rom?
Any help will be much appreciated
If you have an s2 this is not the forum for you. Just a heads up. Anything flashable from this s2 forum will wreck your phone

Mobile Odin help -- please :(

Seem to have gotten myself in another bind :/
Ok, so I flashed a ICS ROM and as usual I want to flash something else(I admit its a bad addiction! ). Unfortunately, my OEM cable isnt working and so odin can't recognize the phone!
SO I have mobile odin installed but I need the correct files. Never had to use it until now, I thought I had a correct kernel/recovery to flash but it says "partition not recognized"
So please mind that I will have to download the files DIRECTLY from my phone. I will seriously LOVE anyone who can help me out
Go to the wiki, found in the sticky section, you're looking for el26 kernel with cwm tar file. In mobile Odin, click kernel and find the file. Check md5 and go. During reboot, Press and hold volume up and power till you get to cwm. Do your wipes and flashing there. Good luck!

Assuming you are using something from the OneClick thread, you need to unpack the file first, either double-click the .exe in windows to unpack or use zarchiver on android. The resulting file can be use with Mobile ODIN using Open File.
Here's the el26 cwm kernel

There are several apps like Wifi File Browser that you can install on your phone that will allow you to transfer files back and forth from your pc/phone if necessary. Really nice to use too.

Issues getting CMW5 safe TW

Hi,
I have been trying to get CMW5 safe TW installed on my rooted samsung galaxy s2 epic 4g FL24. I tried getting the .tar file and the odin that can run it and it didnt work. I also tried getting the mobileOdin and the SXPT-AGAT file to run it on my phone but it did not work also.
The main problem is that my computer seem to not recognize the .tar files. I am running a Windows 7 ultimate 64 bits. Does anybody can provide me with a link to a .tar file that I will be able to use on my computer? either CMW5-safe-tw or the AGAT, I really don't mind.
Thank you.

Use the cwm-directboot-EL26 in mobile odin. Use this if you only need to flash something temporarily, if you want agats recovery then search for the proper .zip and flash it here

There is no directboot EL26CWM.
Either use EL26+CWM and boot to recovery by holding power and volume+, or use the EL29 directboot. Be advised that the EL29 directboot does not flash modems properly.
But you are correct in that this kernel should only be used for flashing, you will need to flash a new kernel with recovery that matches the TW rom you want to run.
Or, you can run an AOSP variant and avoid the kernel issue altogether. I recommend CM10.1 Wild For The Night or PAC-man
