Is it just me or are any other hot mail users having problems using the hotmail app or setting up hotmail in exchange activesync. Activesync worked fine for awhile with push mail but all of a sudden it will give me a "failed to create account error" and the hotmail app gives me an internal error when trying to log in. I can log onto hotmail on my pc with no problem.
Mine works, but its delayed. I got the message you're talking about and it ended up being all good a minute later and sent my message.
I personally just bookmarked my hotmail in the browser. Its fast enough in there and actually deletes the messages.

I have set up Exchange on my EVO and I am having an issue sending emails. Every time I try to send a new email, I got an error on the phone "Unable to send mail" and the email goes into the Outbox.
This is where it gets weird. The email does actually get sent, but it's sent 5 times. The really strange thing is that if I reply to an email I already have, it works fine with no errors. Everything else works perfect (Contacts, Calendar, polling, etc..)
I downloaded Moxier Mail to test that. Moixer mail sent the new emails with no issues so I think this has something to do with the HTC Mail app.
When I first got the phone this seemed to to work fine. I noticed this issue after I installed LockPicker. I uninstalled Lockpicker, but was still having a problem. With no other option, I did a hard reset and just setup exchange, but still got the error so I don't think lockpicker is the issue.
Any help would be awesome!
(By the way, I work for a company with 13,000 employees and they don't support Android so I can't do anything on that side)
Have you tried deleting the account from the HTC Mail App and then re-adding it? I've found every once in a while (when I was trying out the Eris) that it gets flaky and the easy fix is just to delete the account and re-add it.
Thank you for the suggestion, but I have tried that a couple times with no luck. As I mentioned, I even tried a hard reset and still got the error.
Is the email server actually an exchange server? Mine is a zimbra server and has a known issue with HTC exchange mail. This is being fixed in the 6.07 server update that rolls out in a couple weeks. Till then I've disabled email sync on the zimbra/exchange account and am using IMAP for email.

After updating to HTC froyo my mail app now deletes all previous messages in inbox when refreshing!! Anyone else had this problem??

I was just looking for the same answer as you...flipping annoying as now it seems to purge my emails on my desire after the update once i've downloaded them on my home PC in Outlook. Never did this before the update and i've checked in the phone email settings how long to keep the mails in the inbox (set to 7 days at the mo) but it makes no difference. At least on WinMo you have a folder called outlook mail that keep them for a defined period.
I hope this can be fixed as i'm starting to not like the Android OS at all after being a WinMo user from day one.
It's just the simple things that let this OS down i think.
I have this prblem too.....any known fix???
You can try this.
"I was having the same issue, but have resolved it by changing my account settings from POP3 to IMAP."
Didn't work for me but who knows.
Experiencing the same here, after froyo update messages from my pop3 account seems to purge when deleted from server.
Needs a fix
Crap. I have the exact same problem. As soon as you download to your pc from the server the emails are gone. No solution yet? There is a workaround you can go to your native client (outlook) go to advanced setting and check "leave emails on server". Until this is fixed this is all we can do.
Here is a brief tutorial for Outlook 2003:
Under the Delivery section of the Advanced tab, Outlook 2003 lets you define how to handle downloaded and old emails on the mail server.
By default, Outlook 2003 downloads your emails from the server, and in effect deletes them from the server after successful downloads. Without needing access to the mail server itself, you can customize Outlook's email deletion behavior. Outlook 2003 gives you thee options.
Checking the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox instructs Outlook 2003 to leave a copy of your emails on the server indefinitely. You or your System Administrator will then need to delete the emails from the mail server itself.
Complementary options can refine how long, and under what conditions Outlook 2003 should leave a copy of your emails on the mail server; I have mine set to 30 days.
I have another workaround.
I forward emails to myself and the emails get stored in my SENT folder. Irritating, I know, but at least I have a copy of it on my phone.
same problem here

Went over to Modaco and installed a completely stock based rooted ROM. Still doing the exact same thing.
Hi all,
Since 2 days i got a strange problem with my hotmail account and push settings.
Everything sets up fine but when my hotmail is @ push it keeps syncing.
This drain my battery completely also it wont recieve any mail until i sync manual. Before it worked just perfect.
Also when i am on my computer @ msn and i receive a mail msn keaps saying one new mail but it's already read on the phone!
I treid an other hotmail account i created with my phone and push settings and the problem was gone! So it's in my account or something
now i got the following problem:
I can't set it up as exchange but only as pop.
If i try an other hotmail account it works just great with exchange.
Someone knows what this can be!?
I use the email client with POP3 service so that it doesn't delete it off the server and I can then receive it on my laptop. Ever since the Epsilon breach I have been getting a junk mail message that I delete but when I refresh, the message reappears. It even reappears as the its already been read and not in bold. If I pull the messages off the server with my laptop (which does delete them upon download) it goes away. Anyone have a clue as to what could be going on?

Hey Guys,
I've had this strange issue just start earlier this week. I am running completely stock Android 4.2.2 with the stock Email app. I have my work MS exchange email account set up to sync my mail with push retrieval and 1 week sync. It has always worked just fine and only earlier this stopped working.
Here is what happens, when I open my Inbox it shows mail up to the day it stopped working (Feb 26). If I click refresh it tries for a little but then says "Coudn't open connection to server" in a yellow bar at the top. Now for the interesting part. If I open up a subfolder within my Inbox folder, that folder will sync just fine with the most recent mail. All my subfolders within Inbox sync all my mail with no problem. But if I try refreshing my main inbox folder, it always says "Couldn't open connection to server".
What I have tried:
*Restart phone
*Deleting and re-adding the account
*Changed the sync settings
*Incoming settings with SSL and without SSL
*Cleared data and cache for the whole Email app itself
*Downloaded K-9 Email app and synced my exchange account. It worked without issue for all folders.
Given those troubleshooting steps, the issue seems isolated to the Email app itself.
Anybody have ideas?
Thanks!
