Forgot to throw my phone on the charger last nite when I went to sleep, awoke to a dead phone. Put it on the charger, it showed the green battery with no charge, red light on. Went to shower, came back and no red light was on and I couldn't start the phone up. Had to hold the power button to get the battery charging screen to come back up. Tried again in my car and same thing happened, the red light turned off with insufficient charge to turn the phone on. I ended up getting my phone to start up again by throwing the battery in my charging stand that I bought for my vibrant. Anyone else have issues charging the phone from a dead battery situation?

What kernel are you running?

It happens to all smart phones. The battery just becomes undercharged and needs a little while to get back up to minimum. You could always drop by a sprint store and have them boost it real quick.

Palm Treos used to be bad about that back in the day...don't ever let one completely die. It would take forever to charge.

I think that's called "sleep of death". I had that happen to me this morning. I'm running Caulkin's.

Using zetomax 6.02 beta. I guess it's the first time I've completely discharged the battery since I got the phone a week and a half ago. Good thing I had my vibrant extra battery charging stand. It's as if the charge wasn't even capable of running the phone. I've been charging my phone my entire shift (8 hours) and it's only at 50%

Just checked and it's a zetomax 6.02 issue

I began noticing this problem last night before bed. I was playing around on my phone and although it was hooked up to the charger and everyting indicated it was charging (the charging LED was on, the battery icon animation was going, and my battstatt widget status was "charging), the battery percentage only kept decreasing. When I woke up this morning, it was dead, and no matter how long I kept it on the charger, the battery LED would flash, but it would not charge. Thinking it was a battery issue, I took it to the Verizon store and got a replacement under warranty. Well, long story short, I'm still having this problem. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or may I have to restore my handset to stock and send it back to Verizon to have it replaced under warranty?

I also had that problem. The charging port is probably done. I unrooted and got a refurb.

Inc2 USB ports are known to be about as durable as wet toilet paper.
happened to me also, I eventually gave up and got a new one.
Mine did the same then I used the USB cord and now it's charging.

my nephew had the same problem. Just get a refurb or a new phone.
i had the phone running this morning with over 50% charge. i put it on charge to get it to the max before getting to work.. then the phone hanged and switched off..since it has happened before when the phone overheats, i thought it will reboot but since then its not detecting the charger. When i start charging the phones battery area heats up but the charging led is not seen. the dealer told me to charge it for an hour and try but that also didnt work..
any opinions or past experiences like this??
Can you boot into HBOOT? Power plus volume down.
Not sure if its the same thing but over the last 2 nights mine has done something similar and it is annoying the hell out of me!
On the first night as usual i switch my phone off (with about 10% battery left) and plug it in to the charger, wait for the charging light to come on, and go to bed. In the morning no light on and phone won't switch on? After a while of unplugging and plugging back in, pressing random buttons and head scratching the red light comes back on and i can start it up but the battery is completely flat and have to charge it up again?
Same thing happened again last night but this time i had about 50% battery??? Haven't looked into it properly yet as i thought it was a fluke but obviously its not! I'm running stock untouched phone so trying other roms etc isn't an option atm.
Will let you know if i find anything ;-)

Ok so i have had a few days of no problems but just woke up to another completely flat phone? It had 45% battery when i put it on charge and the charge light came on. When i woke up it had no light on and completely flat battery, it wouldn't switch on !!? Unplug the charger and plug it back in and then after a minute the charge light comes on and you can turn it on?? This is very annoying as last time it happened was at a weekend but i have to go to work now without a phone as I have no way to charge it :-(
This is a real pain as it doesn't always happen and when it does I'm asleep so i don't know till its too late?

I've had my epic 4g touch for around a year now and so far its been great however just recently I have noticed problems. My phone worked just fine all the way to work today and when I started using it the phone froze. I took the battery out and reset and when it booted up the battery went from 73% to 03%. I reset again and it gave me 50% so I continued to use it and ignore the percentage after about 5 minutes the screen and touch capacitive buttons flickered and it instantly shut off. Still does it its almost exactly 5 minutes after starting. Also whenever I try to actually shut down the phone it automatically turns its self back on. Even if I take the battery out it will still turn right on. I see the blue light flash a few times as it fails to turn on I'm only using it now cause its on the charger. I'm thinking it might be the battery but idk any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got 13 months from my original battery and towards the end the phone was acting out of wack.
New battery and new os (JB) and phone feels brand new. You'll be surprised when you get that new battery.

Hey guys, I'm having charging issues. I'm rooted and on jedi x14. I'm using the zerolemon 9300 mah battery. My phone started acting up about 3 days ago. I put it to charge all night and come morning it did not. When turned on, the charging symbol would not even turn on. I changed the battery with my stock samsung battery and it showed the charging symbol, but was charging at 0 mah on galaxy charging current so I switched back to the zero lemon. It said it was charging but it was still charging at 0 mah. I left my phone on and on the charger for 9 hours and it is still at the same percentage. I turned it off for about 10 minutes while plugged in and when turned back on, it went up 2%. While turned off, the phone will not even recognize that it's charging. For example, usually when my phone is working properly and turned off, it will show a big green battery showing that it's charging. Mine would not do this. When I try to turn it on when on the charger, it will show a spinning battery symbol as if it's trying to read the battery but goes away after two seconds. My phone will not turn on when connected and powered off. After unplugging it, it will boot normally. I am using the stock samsung power brick with a different cable that is 6 ft but would still charge at 2 A up until recently. The charger works on an s3 mini, s3, and s2 with no issue. Please help, any suggestions are appreciated. I bought the phone in November and have insurance with tmobile.

Now it's not charging at all. I tried using a micro usb to micro usb cable to pull some battery out of an s3 but that did not work.

Not gonna find a fix. It sounds like hardware. Try your orig cord. If it doesnt charge let tmobile deal with it via warranty.

Original cord not charging. Something weird just happened. My phone went into docking mode and I don't know how tk get out of it. It's not plugged in at all. I'm in a foreign country and can't replace the phone for at least another week. This sucks.

Try cleaning the contacts on your usb port. I was having a similar issue and it worked for me.

The error icon indicates that the USB port is probably okay since it is registering that it's plugged in.
The battery could be defective. Take it out and look at it closely. Does it show any signs of bulding at all?
If so then get a new battery. If not then I'd say take your new phone back to the store and get a new one. It's a brand new phone. Don't try to fix it. Get a replacement.
I'm going to check with my friends battery if it works I will get a new battery if not I will take it back to tmo since it's brand new only has 3 weeks

Is it heating up when you plug it in. My fiance had a problem with hers not charging but we noticed it was heating up on the right side above the battery. I took it apart and when I plugged it in there was a short in the ribbon cable with a consent spark. It was unrooted and taken back that day.

I saw on drippler that an s4 caught on fire. Our that there was battery issues with a bunch of devices. Id sure hate to have my S4 spontaneously combust during a phone call. Ha
