haven't heard of anything man... im on Sprint too, anxious to see what next gen devices we get.
Nothing new for this year.
Too bad whatever phone they do get will be crippled by the extremely slow network. Its soo terrible trying to do anything on it before 2am. I'm cancelling my contract with them this week and going to t-mobile. I've had enough.

Look in a web search there's millions of complaints of slow speeds with sprint, especially on their forums. Can't say the same for Tmobile it was declared the 2nd fastest network by PCMag only being beaten by VZs 4G LTe.

Yeah, I'd disagree with that... T-Mobile has been waaaaay better in regards to Sprint in my area at least. I tether my Sprint iPhone to my T-Mobile Android phone when I want good speeds, lol!
http://www.sprintfeed.com/2011/12/r...t-three-windows-phones-in-first-half-of-2012/
This is the only rumor I know saying sprint will get new windows phone.
Sprint is so busy trying to hang from the ball sack of the iPhone; for some reason they went the route of Verizon with promoting their Android phones and now iPhone, like Verizon they only have one Windows Phone and don't promote it much. WTF is next? Sprint will start trying to ditch Windows Phone?
Tmobile may work good in your area. But where i olive its terrible and many other people in my area agree. But it has to be the worst cell phone provider in my area that I've experience.

Yeah I'm really hoping Sprint gets a new windows phone.Hopefully it wont just be one with 1GHZ Process(like the radar) and will be 1.4ghz or 1.5ghz.
I've been sitting on a upgrade since April of 2011. All I want is either a 4" plus Samsung or HTC phone and I will sign a new contract on the first day.
Somehow, I got got the itchy feeling that more than one new Windows Phones are coming to Sprint.
I would not sleep on the Arrive if you can pick one up for a good price like I did on EBay. I am one that started with the first iPhone when it came out and eventually made my to Android and swore by it ever since. I currently have the Motorola Photon 4G but was really interested in taking a Windows 7 phone for a spin so I picked up the Arrive. Man the Arrive is faster than my Photon. Now yes I do not get 4G with the Arrive but I can barely get 4G anyway. These Mango phones are awesome. It also came down to since someone brought up age that I really needed workwise to stop dicking around with gaming ability and the number of apps available (I can use my Asus TF for that ) and look at smartphone functionality. If your in business like myself the Windows phone is the way to go and the HTC Arrive is a damn good phone for now. You can find them off contract for great prices to get you by until the new hardware hits the street.
I love my Arrive so much that I picked up one for my girlfriend for a penny during the holiday sales and got a cheap used one from eBay with a bad ESN so my daughter could use it as an over-glorified Zune. With that being said, I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade if a newer unit was released with a larger screen and more storage. I could care less about processor speed since WP7 seems to run equally well on all current hardware.

Yeah I also have the HTC Arrive(Got it in April) and love the phone so much. But I have a upgrade in March 2012 and really want a window phone with more storage(I also use my htc arrive as a zune player and with only have about 6gb left).
I have the arrive as well, I love the phone other than a few bugs that it has.
I really want something thinner, with a bigger screen and no keyboard. The on screen keyboard works great.

I actually love that the Arrive has a keyboard. The perfect windows phone for me would be a 4 inch screen with a full qwerty keyboard.Basically a windows phone version of the Samsung Captivate Glide.
Morning peeps,
desperately need a new phone and not sure what to get from the two Lumia 900 or Focus S!!??
Know the specs for both of these phones but struggling to decide. What would you go for and why?
ta
go with Nokia
HTC Titan
Titan's screen is not as good...
Go for the 900.
Nokia care about their users and are implementing fixes for bugs when needed.
And besides I'm sure I read that Samsung are dis-continuing the Focus S anyway... Yeh From WPCentral.
"Oh and before we close out, we're also told that the HTC TITAN and Samsung Focus S are to be put on the End of Life (EOL) list, meaning their future availability will be phased out from current inventory without being replenished. "
lumia 900 without a doubt.
Nokia =
better body design and build quality
better camera
Nokia has numerous applications that are much better than the other OEM's (drive, transport ect)
and most important, Nokia is ALL IN with windows phone. They will make sure people are happy. Updates, firmware fixes, if you buy Nokia you know you will have good support for the life of the phone.
how well would the Lumia screen compete with the focus S?
mates got the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the screens amazing

They are both excellent screens. The nokia CBD on the Lumia 900 is stunning. Works great in bright situations also. I'd say overall they are a wash, so it comes down to the rest of the design, hardware, services & support.
Just go with Nokia. LG are crap when it comes to mobile.

Well, Nokia is the number 1 WP seller within 6 months (less if you count that they are not selling worldwide yet). And there is a reason: All Lumia models are sexy.
Loving my 800. Go for it!

I need help picking, I love the radar 4g and the lumia 710 but they don't support micro SD card!(8g of memory won't work for me). Im thinking about getting the dvp(dell venue pro) but I need some window phone owner input!.
Don't want to purchase an unlock phone due to me not being able to use 3G or 4G.
I will be purchasing this phone second hand due to the fact window 8 phone around the corner just want to spend sometime with a window phone to see how it goes! Thanks

There's a good thread here that is worth reading.
If you decide to get a DVP, make sure you are familiar with the process before changing the micro SD card - there are lots of threads about this topic on the DVP forum. You can expand the capacity to 32GB by replacing the micro SD card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=799
There are different versions of the DVP for AT&T and T-Mobile. It may not matter as much if you can't use 3G but worth mentioning.
The DVP was my second wp7 device and after they fixed all of the bugs was a major love affair. Had Nokia not brought such outstanding offerings to the table, I'd still be using the DVP, that thing was a beautiful tank.
Look on Craigslist for an HD7...you can upgrade to 32GB and it has the latest software...unless T-Mo comes out with something slick, I'll be rocking this for quite a while!
Will be looking into both device. Anyone else want to put in there two cents?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
My vote goes to the DVP. I get the privilege of using a lot of devices, and after Mango the DVP is still my favourite WP7 device. It's heavy and the camera is pretty mediocre, but it oozes quality and is the only portrait QWERTY slider available. Helps that the keyboard is awesome, too!
Also, they're very cheap these days. Especially the T-Mobile banded ones.
The DVP looks really boss. I didn't get one basically because I was unsure about the presence of the Italian locale and the 256mbs of RAM got me worried. Also, I didn't really rely on Dell's commitment to WP7, so I was unsure about the update pattern. The 710 is a good and reliable phone too, it has Nokia goods on board and the screen is actually ok. The design is a little uninspiring tho. Just personal opinion, my gf actually likes it better than my 800, she finds it too squared 0.o

IMHO they use it only because they are very accustomed to it. Last summer I tried using a 9780 for a few days and coming from a Desire I found it the most painful phone experience I ever had. The interface is unintuitive as hell, you need to hit the keys dozens of times just to do things that can be done in a couple of taps even on the worse Symbian device. The browser is pathetic, everything keeps lagging and freezing 24/7 and there are no decent apps at all. Also, if you lack BIS and BES this phone is as good as a 3310. Lame, horrid experience. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, it's a nightmare. Maybe the newer phones (like the 9900) are better, but forget about having any support: they won't be updated to BBOS10, and probably RIM will manage to fail even before the end of 2012.

The HD7 is a solid phone,I've been rocking it since November. Only problem I have with it is if I'm in my house or bedroom especially when trying to stream something, if I put my hand anywhere near the base my connection drops to 2G. Probably has something to do with the trees around my brick house or the poor antenna in the phone.

Yes, of course, assuming you don't buy one that is SIM-locked to a different carrier for some reason.
Note that if you want lots of hacks, the Venue Pro is not a good choice. As far as I know, we haven't even managed to interop-unlock it yet. The HD7 (and most other gen1 phones, but not the Venue Pro) can use custom ROMs and WP7 Root Tools.

As I bought first Windows Phone 7 - HTC HD7 I love it. My girlfriend love it as well. And she said, she want WP7 as well. Well now me and my girlfriend using HTC Titan's. Old Omnia 7 gone to my mother, HTC HD7 my sister using. And I hope to get soon Nokia Lumia 900.
My wife, my two kids, and myself all have VZW HTC Trophys. Had them since VZW offered them. Mine and my wifes are IU and apphub registered.
All are at 8107.79 with v1 OEM drivers.

My family not really yet, but my gf has been rocking the L710 for a few months now and she's quite happy with it: she used to have a cheap Android before, so no wonder at all. My Dad (previous Nokia featurephone user) is getting the 610 as soon as it comes out, he's positively impressed with the Office integration and the simplistic UI in my Lumia. Note that for the 5 months I had the SGS2 he never felt really into that. However when I first got my Omnia (R.I.P.) he immediately grabbed it and understood how it worked in a few minutes. A cheap and straightforward WP device like the 610 is exactly what he's been looking for in the latest months.
My mom is still hopeless tho: she keeps using 20€ Nokia uber-dumb phones basically because she smashes everything in a few weeks, no phone os tough enough for her

I bought an omnia 7 (it was april 2011) and one of my schoolmates was impressed by the performance and one week later he had his own omnia7, in 2012 another one of my schoolmates showed me her Lumia 800, then another one asked me if was better a lumia 710 or a Samsung galaxy wonder or something simile, and she has now a lumia710, now another one is searching on ebay some offer for a omnia w..while other spend 600€ for a rude iPhone....they make me laugh a lot
Nop I've got a DVP
Bro has an Android
Sister has a BB
parents don't have smartphones.
Ex GF had a Focus. I have a Lumia 900, my Dad has a Lumia 900 and my Mom has a HTC Surround. Sister is strictly iOS, and the current GF has a Xperia X10a because I was an Android junkie at the time when she was getting a phone.
Me and my Sister got Omnia 7s on launch in Nov 2010. I've just ordered a Lumia 800 as an upgrade and I think she's gonna do the same. So then our Omnias will go to the parents I think.
Yep, my girlfriend inherited my old HD7 and she LOVES it! SHe came from BB, so it may have not been hard to convince her And got my brother to get a Focus S. Once again, extremely satisfied with the simplistic approach and how clean everything looked. Haven't got my mom to jump ship just yet as she loves her iPhone. Dad rocks a BB and I doubt it even matters to him.
My wife has a Samsung Focus S. Picked it up as a Mothers day gift. I liked it so much, i bought myself one.
We had old..dusty old phones. She had the Treo Pro, and i was rocking my Palm Centro...
She loves the phone and how simple it is to use. My brother is now looking to buy the same and come on board now.
The OS is simple, but hypnotizing.. its eye candy.
Plus im on prepaid straight talk. no more contracts.. Its great

I started out with WP7 on my HD2, loved that so decided to go whole hog and bought a Lumia 800. My GF, who had an old SE K610, loved the way the Lumia connected so easily and quickly with the internet. Sorted her out with a data-flat and she bought the Lumia 710 (the L800 was too expensive for her first foray into smartphone-land). Now you can't prize the damn thing out of her hands!! Grrrr!!!
Mother and mother-in-law still have "dumb-phones" and that'll never change. But will be working on getting brother and nephew to move to WP7 (or 8 by that time) for their next phones. Both are lagging behind with Android devices (Wildfire 2 and Explorer from HTC).

It's very tempting to purchase one now, but I highly recommend waiting, especially if you purchase a phone under a contract 2-year no-upgrade plan.
I'm buying the phone outright as I find the size of my gs3 to big for everyday use.. Contract issues are not a consideration.

Hi
I had an SGS2 and the SGS3 did not really appeal to me , So got the Lumia 900 ( I have also had an HTC HD7 windows phone) and was really blown away..
Nokia does the best WP7 phones compared to Samsung or HTC, simply because of the Nokia Apps that are available for the phone and also because nokia is porting most of its symbian apps to wp7.
Things you want miss if coming from android like me..
1) Free turn by turn navigation ( nokia does it for free, HTC charges)
2) Camera is ok although you might have to tweak the settings a bit to squeeze the best out of it ( Nokia is doing another 'camera extras' app to enhance the camera functionality)
3) The CLear Black Amoled display is really good ( like SGS3) even in directs sunlight
4) Battery life as good as the SGS2 ( atleast for me)
5) Most apps are available or you can always pin mobile version of sites to the screen.
6) DLNA will be available via its 'Nokia Play' app next month july.
Downside
1) Its a big phone so if you don't like big phones you might have to pass this
2) No upgrade to WP8 software, only the 'START SCREEN' upto version 7.8
3) Not as many apps as android, but they are coming steadily.
Just a few I can think of....
Let me know if you need to know anything else
Considering the news released today that you won't be upgraded.... F**K Microsoft OS phones, this one in particular. Wait till apollo if you want to not be another beta tester.
Agreed with above poster. With Microsoft's announcement yesterday about no upgrade path to Windows 8 for Lumia 900 and other Windows phones.
It's best to either wait for Windows 8 phones or buy a used phone.
First I would try picking one up in a store to see how it feels in your hand. Having said that when I did that it felt bigger than I was used to and thought it may end up being too big, but now I have one it feels fine.
It's worth getting one over the 800 for two reasons:
1. Much bigger battery which you can make last well into three days on one charge - I even had 100 hours out of one charge when I was hardly using it for a few days.
2. Bigger and better display. The display is the best on any smartphone according to several reviews, and personally I find it easy to read outdoors in sunlight which was a real bugbear on my previous phone. I've also found it easier to use as a satnav with the larger size.
I've found the camera to be better than my previous HTC phone, haven't tried indoor or closeup shots yet though. The main thing I like is that call quality is good, it doesn't drop calls or distort them.
It does have some teething troubles - mine has turned itself off a couple of times, which could get annoying if it keeps happening, and also the battery sometimes starts draining faster for no apparent reason, which is cured by switching it off and on.
As for WP8, in my view it depends on whether you're buying it to use it now or buying it for what you think it ought to be able to do in six months time. I think that WP7 owners will only really be missing out on the better Skype integration that WP8 will bring, most of the rest of WP8's new features seem to require new hardware that the 900 doesn't have anyway. Reading other comments you'd think the phone was going to stop working the day WP8 comes out.
