htc desire hd, so,I had gingerbread 2.3.3 and software # 2.50..., i used advance android hack to hack an root the phone, and apparently everything went good up until i installed the custom rom, it went to the htc welcome screen and stayed there for like 30sec and then it restarted again and again by itself, so i stock restart the phone and put the original rom back, then i tried downgrading the rom to froyo 2.2 and software # 1.32...... i hacked it and root it again but after i installed the custom rom it happened exactly the same it just restarts and restarts by itself to the point where i have to take the battery out ,
I"ve got s-off by the way
any help would be much appreciated
thanks in advance

what do you mean?
I got the same problem. The welcome page again and again. I just restore the stock to and give up the flashing. May be we need to hack the recovery...

True but I just don't want to give up, custom roms look so nice that I have to find out how to do it, if you find out before me just let me know I'll let you know if I do

try this one. after downgrading, make an ota update then root it again with ace advance hack kit...
hope this helps
i dont have htc desire( i had neo v) . but i faced the same problem once.
try wiping evrything off before installing the rom
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
Format /system (in mounts and storage)
Format /cache
Format /Data
good luck
did you factoryreset, delete cache, dalvic and battery stats befor you flashed the rom? it sounds like you are bootlooping.
first if your using cmw or rom manager to install from get rid of that CRAP!! If your s-off on stock rom get 4ext recovery installed on phone first. Then try installing custom from with it.
1. Factory wipe
2. Wipe cache
3. Wipe dalvik
4. Format partitions (except SD card)
5. Format SD card (optional for total wipe)(Only if you want full fresh install but copy everything on SD to PC so you don't lose important stuff)
6. Mount USB (should only see one folder called 4ext)
7. Move rom to SD card
8. Disconnect USB
9. Install from SD card
10. Choose zip from SD card
11. Flash
12. Reboot
All steps done from 4ext recovery so do not exit recovery till all steps are complete.

OK here goes. I downloaded and installed the Business Sense Rom. And it installed then rebooted. From their it went down hill. It would continue to loop after reboot and the Droid Red eye. So like an idiot I went into recovery mode and formatted everything in the Mounts option. Now when I turn the phone off and reboot all I get is the Hboot menu and that's it. It will not goto the main phone stuff. Is their a way to get the phone working again or is it a total write off?
Thanks
Flash another ROM again

when you restart are you going into hboot or recovery?
Download another rom. I recommend redemptive 2.1.3
Put the rom on your sd card. Go into recovery and flash it. Make sure you wipe data. Don't format anything in mounts option.

Are you pretty new to rooting? Happened to me awhile back. Wipe cache, davlik. May have to possibly reinstall RUU to stock and reroot but its easy now with unrevoked.

Correct.....remember while on recovery 'wipe data/factory reset', wipe cache partition' and go to advanced and 'Wipe Dalvik Cache', now install a new ROM. Good luck !
Ok I'll try that. And it first loads Hboot then I can goto recovery. I'll have to buy a microsd card reader first since I don't have one :-( I formatted almost everything on the SD card and internal memory so I'm hoping I can just do what you guys suggested....I'll let you know what happens Thanks for all the help...
Got it to work I installed the default Verizon firmware which was still on 2.1 and its back up and running. Now its downloading the fryo 2.2 update......Thanks for all the help....
I tried a ROM update today (Magnolia) and my phone is now seriously slow (including SpeedTest which shows about 50Kbps download speed). I attempted to reinstall the same ROM and to restore a Nandroid (neither of which has helped). I did every wipe present in CWM v2.5.1.2 (I know v3.x.x.x is not a good wiper) and in HBOOT, also all to no avail.
It is possible that the ROM is focused on carefully updating itself rather than completely overwriting.
Does anyone have a recommendation as to the best way to really ensure that no old runaway processes are surviving the flashes (ROM or Nandroid)? I am wondering if flashing another ROM would do it (it wouldn't try to update), but am very open to suggestions.
Thanks!
I had the same problem when I would install a rom with the CW 3.0.0.8 and it will just update the current rom, and not do a full wipe like I just to get before with the CW 2.x.x.x what I have done to get a clean install is this...
- I dont use the Rom Manager no more to update...
- Boot into Recovery and do the Following before you install a new Rom..
1-) Wipe Data/ Factory Reset
2-) Wipe Cache Partition
3-) Install the Rom .Zip with CW
Thats how I have done it before hope it helps...
Dont use rom manager to install go into recovery. Do a factory reset twice, then goto mounts and storage and format manually, data, cache, system, boot. Do that twice or more and youre super wiped as you put it. But as far as magnolia goes...did you make sure that you dl'd the flashover and not the whole rom?

Pete - Thanks. I never use RomManager to do ANYTHING (and remain surprised that people do). I do factory reset and wipe in CWM but never formatted system; which I just posted in the Magnolia forum as being what I thought is causing all the trouble. At least this lets me know how to manually do it. Thanks

Building on this- I do EVERYTHING from recovery. In addition to the steps listed I also go to "mounts and storage" and wipe /system, /data, /cache, and /boot. Eradicate!

I rooted the incredible using unrevoked, no problem.
Installed and ran root apps, no problem, backed up everything using titanium backup and rom manager (nandroid) and so forth, installed cw recovery 3.0.0.8.
When I install the skyraider 4 rom from rom manager, it reboots and installs, but then when it reboots again it hangs at the white htc incredible screen (and I've let it wait as long as a half an hour). I have to take out the battery to be able to reboot it.
I can boot back to recovery and then re-install and boot back to the stock rooted rom just fine. But I can't get a new rom installed and working.
I've looked at previous threads about this problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038402
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1023358
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991953
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739646
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=620621
and several other threads on other sites.
The only suggestions to come out of those, other that starting over from scratch (which I've done multiple times now), were to reformat the sd card, which I've also done, and to downgrade to cm recovery 2.5.1.2. Rom manager only shows versions as old as 3.0.0.5. I have put the PB31IMG.zip file on the sd card and loaded that before to help recover but I don't see how that helps with installing a new rom.
Any other suggestions? The main reason I even need a new rom is because bluetooth doesn't work in the stock rom (known issue: http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/91/p/2336/8570.aspx )
It sounds like you are not wiping cache and Davlik (in advanced). The constant reboot of the white screen is a classic symptom of not performing a cache and Davlik wipe

appreciate your help, yeah I've been doing that everytime in rom manager. I tried it several times manually in cm recovery, too, and still the white screen.
I'll just see if verizon can exchange it, or else I'll sell it for another phone with working bluetooth.
Might try reverting to the 2.5.1.2 recovery as I've heard the 3.x.x.x ones don't wipe consistently.

There is a flash of CWM 2.5 that temporarily lets you use that to flash the rom then when you reboot it will revert back. Try that.
I flashed the DZ hBoot on my G2 to flash new sense3.0 ROMS but after updating the PC10IMG.zip file in the bootloader it reboots and hangs at the htc logo screen & even was not allowing me to enter recovery mode....so i removed the sdcard and erased the PC10IMG.zip file and then rebooted into recovery and tried restoring the backed up ROM ...but while restoring the boot img it gives out the error 'boot img not found' ...hence while i reboot again it hangs at the HTC screen!!! pls help!!!
*AND YES...THE ROM WHICH IM TRYING TO RESTORE IS MY STOCK G2 ROM*
you won´t be able to restore your g2 stock rom... choose a different one (maybe on of the sense roms - you did change your hboot because of that, didn´t you?)
go to recovery and mount usb storage put the rom (.zip) on the sdcard unmount usb storage and flash the rom through recovery.
maybe wipe cache & dalvik cache before flashing the new rom

Phone is rooted and s off and has been for a long time running a custom ROM, I've installed this ROM many many times using the same zip and flashed cwm recovery. But now I want to return the phone to a fresh install with no user data I can't! It's probably me not doing something right but I'm sure it's not. When I wipe and install the ROM the old data and installed apps are still there! How can this be?
The phone boots and takes you through first start up pages: uk, google account, wifi etc but when getting to the phone it's how it was before I wiped!
Help?
Probably it syncs most of that data with your Google account.

Try to format your sdcard all over again if you are using Ext partition. What recovery are u using anyway? Might as well reflash the recovery too.
