Download the rom on your pc, connect the phone to the c via usb cable, on the phone select mount as disk drive, it'll pop up on your pc, drag it over, unmount / disconnect, reboot into recovery, do all the wipes I listed previously [dalvik cache is located under advanced] then install zip > select and flash, reboot.

my computer isent showing my device is it maybe because htc sync?

Did you mount as Usb mass storage in clockworkmod?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

mine does not show up as "evo or android" go to my comuper and if there is unmarked drives try those (mine just shows up as removable drive G ) also try another usb cord usb plug or another computer before you go to sprint

Whenever i plug in my usb cord to a computer, my phone does not notify me about debugging or usb mounting. Is this a hardware problem or a software problem? My phone charges fine when pluggin in to the wall charger or a computer. Im currently running CM6.1 stable, tiamat's kernel, and my gingerbread theme. I do not recall when this started to happen, but i really need some help. Thanks in advance!

Wireless?
Perhaps try Wireless ADB from the market and see if issue persists?
Similarly, I have used SwiFTP for many months to move files to/from PC.
As such, haven't had to connect USB cable from device to PC in quite a while.

Nope. Nvm. Did some research and it was tiamat's 2.2.1 kernel that messed up my drivers on my phone

have you tried going into recovery and mounting your phone to your computer with the usb ms option, that will put your phone as a disk drive on the computer, or take sd card out and place it on an adaptor and plug it to your pc copy the rom, and then put it back in your phone

You need to mount usb from recovery before your pc will find your phone. Htc sync only works when the device is booted to a sense rom. It won't work from aosp(miui), or from recovery.

, bummer, but if you can go into recovery, like your first post says, why dont you just restore your backup, i hope you did one its in every thread about rooting, back ups are your number one friend.

it sounds like your sd card might have gotten corrupted, which would suck, if you can get your hand on an adaptor and plug it to pc, there is an option to check it for errors, or if you know someone with an evo i would buy an sd card and put the rom in there with their phone and then put it back to your phone
how do you run ruu
check out this thread. hopefully it helps.

OMFG! Pull the sdcard, put it in another phone or a card reader. Put a new ROM on the card. Then put it back in your EVO. Reboot to Recovery. Wipe everything. Flash ROM.
Problem solved........
thx for the help got it
had to get a new sd card

HELP Pls

i attempted to root my phone thats running froyo using the How-To [Root] The myTouch 3GS if you updated to Offical 2.2.1 and lost root method....needless to say it didnt work for me and was in a bootloop (Hboot said the bootloader was bypassed when trying to update) so what i did afterwards was batt pull and did a hard reset-clear storage and everything went back to normal so i hooked my phone to pc and attempted to try the process again but not the pc doesn't reconize the phone using usb and when i unplug the phone from usb it ALWAYS reboots... also the phone is not reading my sd card(sd card is fine i put it in my card reader and all files are still on there) any help?
as a side note to all who jus peeked at the thread.....when i connect the the phone to pc via usb i only have the sync and charge option...crazy thing is it still works running 2.1update jus no access to sd..so at least its not bricked right????
As a starting point I would suggest you save all the important files from your sd card onto your pc and then reformat the card on the phone(if it allows it) or using sd formatter or other software on your pc.

tried that already its like the phone is not reading the card or pc i used an adaptor to format the card in FAT32 and had the same issue.. but the phone still works fine...any other ideas?
You can try going into recovery using Droid explorer (pc software) and see if you might be able to mount the sd card that way.
In addition, you might need to reinstall the drivers for your phone on the computer, if I'm not mistaken installing HTC sync on your computer should take care of the drivers for you.

[Q] How do I get access to the phone in recovery mode in Windows?

I screwed up a rom flash and my backup on the phone has an md5 error.
I can get into Clockwork recovery but how do I access the phone from Windows so I can upload an older backup that I have stored on my PC so I can flash that or try to replace the rom image that didn't work?
What's the method to mount the phone via usb if all I can get to is recovery mode?
make sure you are on the evo home screen hit the menu button, then hit settings. Scroll down to connect to pc and tap that, in the next menu click connection type and choose disk drive and click done.
Now hook your phone up to the computer and it will probably ask you again what connection you want on the phone, make sure to check disk drive and then done. Now go to my computer on your PC and find your phone and right click on it and choose open. You should now be able to view the files on your phones SD card. Just drag or copy and paste whatever files you want onto the phone and make sure you eject the phone before you take the usb cord out. Hope that helps.
@sa4000, he can't get into the ROM, only recovery so you're method will not work.
However, you can mount sd card in recovery. Its been a while since I've used clockwork but it should be under mounts. Also, I've had this happen before and sorta freaked, but you can just remove the sd card and put it into a reader on your computer. I went out and bought one and use it quite regularly for phone maintenance.
Searching on this I came up with all kinds of things saying that you would have to use adb, but that only applies to pushing stuff to the phone not the sd.

Ah, there is a menu in clockwork for mounts, I didn't see it. I found all the adb stuff too and was hoping there was an easier way. I must have overlooked the totally obvious mount/unmount option in recovery.
Thanks.
I got mine stuck in boot loop at work and wasn't able to use my phone for almost a day and a half. That was till I realized I could just take out the sd card....

Can't find SD card

I've just installed my first ROM ICJ 4.2.2 which is great. Apart from the fact when I plug my phone into PC it won't show up to put music photos etc on. And in the storage settings it says I only have 468mb free on external storage. I have been into recovery and tried to mount the SD but nothings working. Please help sorry if extremely noob question.

this happened to me last week actually. When I went to settings/storage it only showed up the app storage and not the internal storage.
What I did was a bit extreme and scary, since I only just started flashing roms 2 weeks ago. I did a factory reset and wiped EVERYTHING in recovery including the sdcard and system, then I used an all-in-one toolkit to push the boot image and the rom through adb sideload. I used the following excellent post and flashed twrp recovery, as clockworkmod doesn't support adb sideload, apparently, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904
Maybe as a last resort you could do it, it worked for me. but I would wait a day or two to see if someone with a bit more knowledge can suggest anything.

Mount your usb storage from a custom recovery and backup the whole SD on your pc, then boot into the rom and mount the SD on your PC then restore all the files.
Or simply, move all SD content into the "0" folder or whatever its called in your rom.

Didn't word that correctly, the toolkit flashed the boot image in fastboot and then pushed the rom through sideload. I don't use toolkits now though, find it much easier using fastboot and adb commands
