I'm pleased to present my repack of the stock ROM for the HTC Vision! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
Remember that if you use this ROM, you do so entirely at your own risk!!
About MoDaCo stock ROM repacks
Unlike a MCR (MoDaCo Custom ROM) release, a stock ROM repack is as close to the stock ROM as possible. Only root / Superuser and an insecure boot image is added. The benefits of the repack are providing a rollback option in update zip format as well as providing an online kitchen to remove parts that are not required.
A MCR release of this ROM is also available!
Requirements
In order to use this ROM on your device, you must have a custom recovery image installed (Clockwork Mod).
THIS ROM SHOULD RUN ON BOTH THE G2 AND THE DESIRE Z!
Features
Repack of the 1.22.531.8 (OTA) ROM
Pre-rooted with su and Superuser Permissions by ChainsDD
Insecure boot image (ro.secure=0)
Changelog
Please see the post below this one for the changes in each release.
Installation
To install this ROM:
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM (unless you are coming from a 'Sense' ROM), however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.
Downloads
This ROM is now available in the online kitchen - see the post below for details! In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.

Initial Release
Let me know how you get on people!
MCR'd version and Sense stock / MCR for both G2/Z to follow (soon)!

just flashed this. pretty fast,
thanks paul!
COOKIN' ROMS LIKE A BOSS
Thanks, Paul. Looking forward to your SenseUI build for American Visions
Works perfectly. Very snappy. Using it with the ROM kitchen is a nice way to customize exactly the ROM you want. I used that to keep my old email.apk that doesn't ask for a alphanumeric password every time I want to use the phone.

Is busybox preinstalled also? I'm sure it is...but just making sure
Actually, I don't see it in xbin, weird....
thank u so much for this... using sense with this phone was like installing kde on freebsd.... much rather have fluxbox...
if i flash this over bacon bits will this return me to the pre-bacon bits - post ota stock kernel without oc?

Correct.

Pual, I for the life of me can't seem to get this overclocked. I should be able to overclock this using the steps in the link below correct? Oh, and by the way I love the rom. I used baconbit, which was great until i found out I couldn't use my extended battery on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813681
I've done a total wipe and installed your rom and my app with titanium. Here's the link.
I've put the ota ko file in the root of the my sd. And ran the attached .sh files in gscript, but all i get is errors.
Edit: nevermind I see that the OP to the overclocking post no longer supports it. I guess ill have to go with the new kernal and hope it works with extended batteries. Thanks for reading.

Hello guys,
I have 2.3.3.
But i want to flash a theme on my phone with CWM.
But with which file I get the CWM?
Flash Chainfire's rooted JKV kernel v2.6, it comes with CWM.
Is there something else that i can flash a theme on 2.3.3?
And is there a another way?
You can extract the files from the theme package and manually overwrite the current ones in your phones /system directory.
I cannot find the map on my phone.

To get CWM you need modded kernel like Intratech said. So far there are 3 kernels available
Where can i find a kernel? with CWM
You've been a member since 2008 and you don't know where to get kelners from?
God bless your ignorance every kelner has CWM included except the chainfire's 2.2 kelners.
You need a 2.3 kelner look for them in development section.

If you have 2.3.3 and don´t have CWM you probably have "stock" one flashed with ODIN. Do not use a theme on it! Available JVK themes are mostly just for deodexed versions, like Doc´s XXJVK beta and Darky´s 10.0 RC, not for the stock one!
EDIT: So flash first Chainfire´s CWM, then deodexed 2.3.3 and then some nice theme
With root kernel CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVK-v2.4-CWM3RFS

The ROM is packaged for installation via ClockworkMod. The radio / baseband is packaged for installation via either renaming to PC10IMG.zip and copying to SD card then rebooting to bootloader or by 'fastboot flash'ing the radio (both of which will likely require your device to be 'S-OFF / ENG' bootloader).
A MCR will follow soon.

Can you elaborate on the "uncensored" DNS servers? What's wrong with the defaults? Is it easy to revert to the defaults?
Paul, can you clarify if this requires you to be running the last FroYo tmo OTA? Or can this be flashed from a clean wipe? I looked at the file system in the zip, and it looks like a full ROM, but I just flashed the odex'd version and got stuck at the HTC splash. Thanks man.
its a full rom i cleaned wiped & flash the deodex & it runs great so far
Love this ROM. Super clean &fast. I just have 2 questions. 1 Is there a taptowake link some one can send me or post. 2 do I really need to flash the new baseband & radio seems fine without it.

You can flash this on top of anything, probably without wiping if coming from a near stock build as the actual ota is non wipe.

Its not ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY BUT they built this rom to work SPECIFICALLY with that radio. So why not have it work at 100%?

The uncensored DNS servers was listed in the original thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16322309&postcount=466
Also, anyone on rooted stock 2.2 tried this?
This thread will be a little different.
I would like to make one thing very clear. Even tho I'm posting new repacked kernel with a recovery compiled from source I can't claim this as my work.
A lot of talented devs were involved in the process and they were kind enough to guide me every step of the way and not claiming any credit for that. I would like to extend my thanks to (not in any particular order):
Chris41g
Sfhub
garwynn
Mr. Sumrall
Entropy
And many more who helped along the way.
First let us understand what is "safe" recovery.
Here is direct quote from sfhub's PM to me:
"Just think of it this way. You build your own recovery executable and have examined your source tree confirming wipe.c doesn't exist, so the operations that are handled *by your recovery* are safe. That is wipe data/factory reset and nandroid backup/restore.
When you choose to install a rom from *your recovery*, it uses a "helper app" that is in the ROMs update.zip called update-binary.
This update-binary is also compiled against libext4_utils.a, except in this case (except for your own ROM), you cannot examine the source tree update-binary was compiled against, so you can't be sure wipe.c wasn't used.
Now if that ROM update.zip were to use a "known" update-binary, like the one included with the EL29 OTA, then you would know that it was "safe" update-binary, even without the source code."
End quote.
You can read more about this In this thread if you haven't done it yet.
In other words. The bug was present in GB as well but it was missing the command to trigger it. That command has been introduced (added) in ICS code.
So:
1. As long as recovery is build against GB code it is safe.
2. If any update zip is build based on GB source code it is safe.
3. If any rom has GB updater-binary in META-INF it is safe.
4. If rom is build with ICS update-binary but doesn't have format() for data in updater-script it is safe.
As we can see here the problem is with format() command in ICS source.
There is a line (command) in ICS that wasn't present in GB and it triggers the bug. It's hiding in format() and has a wipe() syntax or something like that.
GB source code doesn't have it thus we never had any bricks in GB.
When any filename_rom_theme_whatever.zip is applied in recovery it will use updater-binary that is packed into zip and located in META-INF folder.
All GB binaries are safe since they didn't have that wipe() command in them.
We have safely used Calk's format_all.zip because it has been created in GB days and has GB updater-binary in it.
If rom devs will use GB update-binary the rom zip will be safe to flash.
Any update.zip with GB binaries is safe.
Now about the update and repack I'm about to post.
Recovery has been compiled from source provided by Chris41g and with his help against CM7 (GB) source code and all menu items in recovery are safe to use.
It has been repacked into ICS zImage but since binaries are from GB there is nothing to worry about.
tFE22_v0.1.1 has GB binary in it (as all my roms did) and it's safe to flash.
FE22_Repack_AGAT.zip has GB binaries and it's safe to use.
Whenever you wanna flash a zip file in recovery you would worry only if zip has ICS binaries packed into it. I that case even simplest zip flashing can cause a brick. It doesn't mean it would but the possibility is there.
I'm using this newly repacked kernel for couple of days now and I did apply wipe data/factory reset menu option 8 times. No problems so far.
I hope you would have same experience.
Now to my update.
tFE22_v0.1.1:
1. Fixed SystemUI.apk
2. 4G icons have been replaced with ones I had in my previous roms.
3. Added S-Voice (thanks to scarmon25 for help)
4. Small revisions all over the place.
5. Bluetooth works and reconnects as soon as device is in range
FE22_Repack_AGAT:
1. Recovery compiled from source (I can't thank enough Chris41g for his help and guidance)
2. Wipe data/factory reset is back into recovery menu (use it with caution).
3. Small changes and edits in init.rc
4. Changes and edits in recovery.rc.
5. Renamed recovery to AGAT_Recovery version tREC_0.0.1. Thanks to Chris41g for being so kind and generous because it is his recovery, source and help that make all this possible.
6. Added my logo and name to recovery background.
Here are links:
tFE22_v0.1.1
1. tFE22_v0.1.1.zip
Mirror at dev-host.
2. Deodexed version coming soon.
Repacked Kernel:
1. FE22_Repack_AGAT.tar Flash with ODIN
2. FE22_Repack_AGAT.zip Flash in recovery.
If anyone wants to use this repack for a rom feel free to do so.
One more time it's not my work but rather a combined effort of many talented devs that helped me wile staying in background and didn't want/ask for any credit for this.
But they deserve more credit than I do. They could of do it without me in a heart bit. I couldn't do it without them in a year.

Awesome. Great work agat., question, I know this is your recovery, what is it based on, ACS5, rogue, CM? And just to clarify, you can wipe using this in ics? Providing that the update script in the zip isn't ics? Did i get that right? Lol. Is there any way to tell if the update meta file script uses ICS or GB? Also does this kernel come with s some of the standard goodies, initd, bootanimation support etc? Also, 1st page again!. Shout out to rwilco for putting all these kernels I'm one place.. Edit: just flashed and checked out the recovery, effing awesome!!!Excellent!!!
Looks like you pulled an all-nighter...no slacker, you.
Problem: Firefox and Opera do not play well with JumboFiles for the ROM. OpenDNS blocks it and other red flags pop-up. Any mirror or other source planned? If I'm alone, c'est la vie.
Thanks and great work, agat. Without question you're putting the greatest effort into development now and it's terrific to be a beneficiary of your going up the learning curve.
EDIT: Found a work-around to download ROM, but JumboFiles.com has a bad rep. Downloading Agat's repacked was never a problem.
FYI, Did you notice when flashing the new FE22 repack, screen indicates it is "Flashing FE16 Repacked Kernel?" I assume that's a typo.
Agat, I'm currently on rooted stock FE22 ROM with your repacked FE22 kernel, including modified ACS recovery.
Can I flash your new ROM from FE22/ACS recovery or should I mobile odin back to EL26/CWM and flash from there?
I've never tried any of your ROMs but I'm surely gonna try this one haha

The way I read it, that depends on the update script that's in the ROM your flashing. So if you are using this kernel plus a ROM that has an update script based on the GB script then yes. Agat, please correct me if I'm wrong...

That is exactly correct! So all devs technically should be building roms with updater scripts from GB base now, if they weren't already.

For those who have an UNLOCKED boot loader.
Kernel Stock+ is
= Sony latest ICS .55 kernel base
+ Auto-root with SuperSU
+ Init.d
+ Governor : Badass, Intellidemand, Interactive, Lagfree, Hotplug, Wheatley
+ I/O schedule : SIO, ROW, ZEN
+ elf extract (support recovery in FOTA partiton)
+ few tweak
+ OC to 1674Mhz(some version)
Stock+ V5.4.1 (OC)
- Over clock again to 1674MHz
- Port few lib, optimize from Open SEMC kernel
- Omit smartassv2 it cause my phone stuck at max frequently.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?hsma936uzlasgao
Stock+ V5.3 (Not OC)
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ohybzjcfu1ad6hc
- Update recovery TWRP 2.4.1
- Support elf extract so you are no longer tie to TWRP 2.4.1. Now you can update TWRP to the latest version or even install CWM. Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173202
- Fix Auto Root
- Remove PeqasusQ
- Add Lagfree, Hotplug, Wheatley
Stock+ V5.2 (Enable to Over Clock to match XSL speed)
http://www.mediafire.com/?4n0n5b04g76h8ew
- Change max frequency to 1674MHz
- Change RAM Disk to limit max frequency at 1512MHz
Stock+ V5.1 (update TWRP to V2.3.3.0)
http://www.mediafire.com/?ehkzz5lb59zgbxd
- New ramdisk structure. Now ramdisk split into two 1st for recovery and 2nd for Stock ICS boot.
- 1st ramdisk is ported from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075562.
- 2nd ramdisk is exacted from sony stock kernel.sin merge with ramdisk from Advance Stock Kernel this should retain "autoroot" function and "init.d" support
Stock+ V2
link : http://www.mediafire.com/?vzpj4b6kpoa5zsl
This kernel feature
- build from .55 source + fix cache formatting issue
- little mod ram disk to set minimum frequency at 192000
- on demand tweak for better battery life.
- autoroot with superSU
- Xperia boot screen
Stock+ V1
Link : http://www.mediafire.com/?5sb5352k7pz5lc5
It is unmodified STOCK kernel extract from .55 kernel.sin plus CWM with auto root functionality.
I made a little mod to ramdisk to make it auto root with SuperSU instead of Superuser. The wifi module also replace with the one from stock firmware as well. The wifi module in Advance stock Kernel is not compatible with this kernel.
The kernel work just fine but I notice some bug when I try to format cache or wipe cache it will cause your cache partition corrupt. So if you like to use unmodified stock kernel please remember NOT wipe or format cache.
Well if you already wipe/format and want to get around the problem just simply install other kernel e.g. advance stock ICS17 or my stock mod kernel list above then format cache after that reinstall unmodified stock or you can leave it as it is.
Note.
- 28/01/13 : just found a bug regarding to setcpu and antutu set at boot not appear to set both core correctly. Please give No-frills CPU control or Kernel tuner a try but remember not to use with pagasusq.
- To install by fastboot just extract kernel.elf from the zip.
- Source is outdate because I can not upload a big file. I will update source as soon as I get proper internet connection.
- Now you can update TWRP to the latest version using goo.manager or even install CWM. Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173202
Feedback is appreciate.

I think this is different mate. The one you provide is not the real recovery. This is the same way people use for Locked boot loader. The recovery is locate in "system". If you format system you will loose it or if you install new ROM which has script to format system you probably loose recovery!!
Mine the recovery is not in system partition. It is loaded in ramdisk. You won't loose it even you format system.
Cheers.

You probably not need it because if you already rooted with ICS16 which come with superuser then the kernel will not reroot your system.
I'm still learning, could you please explain or give me some info about how you find user friendly of superuser? I read around here and lot of people said supeSU is quicker.
Cheers,

I am not a Dev but since my 1st Xperia NEO I have always used Superuser. I only once used SuperSu and its was last night When I was looking for a way to Root .55 of my Xperia S.
The used Interface it kinda messy and had a lot of option but in Superuser it just a few thing and easy to understand.
I don't know about others but As far as I know and Experienced most of the xperia user and even my friend use Superuser instead of supersu.

You can use an existing kernel zip and add this to it.
Sent from hell using Xperia-S(atan)
Xsx version 6 is a good one to use

It easy more than what I thought. I spent hours messing around with zImage within cwm flash-able zip of ICS16.
Finally I figure it out. Please try the CWM version of this stock kernel in first post.

You may start from the link in my first post. It is for Acro S but it should give you an idea. There is an instruction in page 5.
I use kernel kitchen to unpack and repack kernel.

It suppose to work on windows but you will need cgywin. You also need some other software like phyton 7zip java etc. If you have Linux then it will be easy to install all those software.
Great work.
I have a unlock bootloader and Whit this kernel there is an increase of performance.
Now i have the stock. 55 and Whit the antutu and i have 8390
Whit cm10 i have 8900. I think this is a Great kernel.
Hi, I've just added this kernel to the Xperia S Development Index
