This thread will be a little different.
I would like to make one thing very clear. Even tho I'm posting new repacked kernel with a recovery compiled from source I can't claim this as my work.
A lot of talented devs were involved in the process and they were kind enough to guide me every step of the way and not claiming any credit for that. I would like to extend my thanks to (not in any particular order):
Chris41g
Sfhub
garwynn
Mr. Sumrall
Entropy
And many more who helped along the way.
First let us understand what is "safe" recovery.
Here is direct quote from sfhub's PM to me:
"Just think of it this way. You build your own recovery executable and have examined your source tree confirming wipe.c doesn't exist, so the operations that are handled *by your recovery* are safe. That is wipe data/factory reset and nandroid backup/restore.
When you choose to install a rom from *your recovery*, it uses a "helper app" that is in the ROMs update.zip called update-binary.
This update-binary is also compiled against libext4_utils.a, except in this case (except for your own ROM), you cannot examine the source tree update-binary was compiled against, so you can't be sure wipe.c wasn't used.
Now if that ROM update.zip were to use a "known" update-binary, like the one included with the EL29 OTA, then you would know that it was "safe" update-binary, even without the source code."
End quote.
You can read more about this In this thread if you haven't done it yet.
In other words. The bug was present in GB as well but it was missing the command to trigger it. That command has been introduced (added) in ICS code.
So:
1. As long as recovery is build against GB code it is safe.
2. If any update zip is build based on GB source code it is safe.
3. If any rom has GB updater-binary in META-INF it is safe.
4. If rom is build with ICS update-binary but doesn't have format() for data in updater-script it is safe.
As we can see here the problem is with format() command in ICS source.
There is a line (command) in ICS that wasn't present in GB and it triggers the bug. It's hiding in format() and has a wipe() syntax or something like that.
GB source code doesn't have it thus we never had any bricks in GB.
When any filename_rom_theme_whatever.zip is applied in recovery it will use updater-binary that is packed into zip and located in META-INF folder.
All GB binaries are safe since they didn't have that wipe() command in them.
We have safely used Calk's format_all.zip because it has been created in GB days and has GB updater-binary in it.
If rom devs will use GB update-binary the rom zip will be safe to flash.
Any update.zip with GB binaries is safe.
Now about the update and repack I'm about to post.
Recovery has been compiled from source provided by Chris41g and with his help against CM7 (GB) source code and all menu items in recovery are safe to use.
It has been repacked into ICS zImage but since binaries are from GB there is nothing to worry about.
tFE22_v0.1.1 has GB binary in it (as all my roms did) and it's safe to flash.
FE22_Repack_AGAT.zip has GB binaries and it's safe to use.
Whenever you wanna flash a zip file in recovery you would worry only if zip has ICS binaries packed into it. I that case even simplest zip flashing can cause a brick. It doesn't mean it would but the possibility is there.
I'm using this newly repacked kernel for couple of days now and I did apply wipe data/factory reset menu option 8 times. No problems so far.
I hope you would have same experience.
Now to my update.
tFE22_v0.1.1:
1. Fixed SystemUI.apk
2. 4G icons have been replaced with ones I had in my previous roms.
3. Added S-Voice (thanks to scarmon25 for help)
4. Small revisions all over the place.
5. Bluetooth works and reconnects as soon as device is in range
FE22_Repack_AGAT:
1. Recovery compiled from source (I can't thank enough Chris41g for his help and guidance)
2. Wipe data/factory reset is back into recovery menu (use it with caution).
3. Small changes and edits in init.rc
4. Changes and edits in recovery.rc.
5. Renamed recovery to AGAT_Recovery version tREC_0.0.1. Thanks to Chris41g for being so kind and generous because it is his recovery, source and help that make all this possible.
6. Added my logo and name to recovery background.
Here are links:
tFE22_v0.1.1
1. tFE22_v0.1.1.zip
Mirror at dev-host.
2. Deodexed version coming soon.
Repacked Kernel:
1. FE22_Repack_AGAT.tar Flash with ODIN
2. FE22_Repack_AGAT.zip Flash in recovery.
If anyone wants to use this repack for a rom feel free to do so.
One more time it's not my work but rather a combined effort of many talented devs that helped me wile staying in background and didn't want/ask for any credit for this.
But they deserve more credit than I do. They could of do it without me in a heart bit. I couldn't do it without them in a year.

Awesome. Great work agat., question, I know this is your recovery, what is it based on, ACS5, rogue, CM? And just to clarify, you can wipe using this in ics? Providing that the update script in the zip isn't ics? Did i get that right? Lol. Is there any way to tell if the update meta file script uses ICS or GB? Also does this kernel come with s some of the standard goodies, initd, bootanimation support etc? Also, 1st page again!. Shout out to rwilco for putting all these kernels I'm one place.. Its in the stickies you can't miss it. Get the NEW kick ace boot animations WITH SOUND RIGHT HERE!! Edit: just flashed and checked out the recovery, effing awesome!!!Excellent!!!
Looks like you pulled an all-nighter...no slacker, you.
Problem: Firefox and Opera do not play well with JumboFiles for the ROM. OpenDNS blocks it and other red flags pop-up. Any mirror or other source planned? If I'm alone, c'est la vie.
Thanks and great work, agat. Without question you're putting the greatest effort into development now and it's terrific to be a beneficiary of your going up the learning curve.
EDIT: Found a work-around to download ROM, but JumboFiles.com has a bad rep. Downloading Agat's repacked was never a problem.
FYI, Did you notice when flashing the new FE22 repack, screen indicates it is "Flashing FE16 Repacked Kernel?" I assume that's a typo.
Agat, I'm currently on rooted stock FE22 ROM with your repacked FE22 kernel, including modified ACS recovery.
Can I flash your new ROM from FE22/ACS recovery or should I mobile odin back to EL26/CWM and flash from there?
I've never tried any of your ROMs but I'm surely gonna try this one haha

The way I read it, that depends on the update script that's in the ROM your flashing. So if you are using this kernel plus a ROM that has an update script based on the GB script then yes. Agat, please correct me if I'm wrong...

That is exactly correct! So all devs technically should be building roms with updater scripts from GB base now, if they weren't already.

I'm pleased to present my repack of the stock ROM for the HTC Vision! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
Remember that if you use this ROM, you do so entirely at your own risk!!
About MoDaCo stock ROM repacks
Unlike a MCR (MoDaCo Custom ROM) release, a stock ROM repack is as close to the stock ROM as possible. Only root / Superuser and an insecure boot image is added. The benefits of the repack are providing a rollback option in update zip format as well as providing an online kitchen to remove parts that are not required.
A MCR release of this ROM is also available!
Requirements
In order to use this ROM on your device, you must have a custom recovery image installed (Clockwork Mod).
THIS ROM SHOULD RUN ON BOTH THE G2 AND THE DESIRE Z!
Features
Repack of the 1.22.531.8 (OTA) ROM
Pre-rooted with su and Superuser Permissions by ChainsDD
Insecure boot image (ro.secure=0)
Changelog
Please see the post below this one for the changes in each release.
Installation
To install this ROM:
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM (unless you are coming from a 'Sense' ROM), however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.
Downloads
This ROM is now available in the online kitchen - see the post below for details! In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.

Pual, I for the life of me can't seem to get this overclocked. I should be able to overclock this using the steps in the link below correct? Oh, and by the way I love the rom. I used baconbit, which was great until i found out I couldn't use my extended battery on it.

I've done a total wipe and installed your rom and my app with titanium. Here's the link.
I've put the ota ko file in the root of the my sd. And ran the attached .sh files in gscript, but all i get is errors.
Edit: nevermind I see that the OP to the overclocking post no longer supports it. I guess ill have to go with the new kernal and hope it works with extended batteries. Thanks for reading.

Here we go again.
New leak, new update, new rom.
Same as previous leaks.
Thanks to Calkulin for Stock rooted deodexed rom
Thanks to Tiffany84 for initial themeing of FC05/FC07/FC15
Thanks to Team Rogue for FC07 repacked kernel.
v.0.1.0
Rom is pretty much stock with light ICS touch. No build.prop tweaks yet.
Let us see how it works. So far it looks like some our dreams and wishes were addressed by Sammy and Sprint.
Vibration works with MMS notifications and calls.
GPS works. Navigation (I'm using Google maps navigation) works.
GPS status got accuracy 6ft outside.
I didn't try to flash this rom over any of GB builds but it worked without wipe over FC07 and FC15. Didn't try any other builds.
v0.1.1
1. Finalized theme
2. 1% battery icons added
3. AOSP lock screen added (thanks to dtm-strech).
4. Hotspot hack added (thanks to Calkulin and anyone else involved on making this possible).
5. Shaved rom. Lot of apps removed. Removed apps are in separate flashable zip. You can flash it as is or open zip with 7z. Navigate to system/app folder and delete all apps you don't want installed and leave apps you want to add to rom. Close 7z window. Copy zip to root of SD card and flash in recovery.
6. Added new Enhanced and Silences Camera (thanks to Calkulin, KCRic and me)
7. Added Team Rogue Repacked FC18 kernel. Huge thanks for that.
8. Some other small edits that I can't recall.
My big thanks and your should go to JSnively and jt-hatch for testing this updated extensively whole day today and nailing down couple of problems that we were able to fix before offering this rom to all of you.
Please hit thanks button for these guys since they agreed to be guinea pigs for all of us.
If flashing over v0.1.0 no wipe needed. You can flash straight over it.
If coming from other ICS build modified format all is recomended.
v0.1.1 has not been tested over GB so apply Calkulin's fromat all zip before flashing that should be enough.
No screen shots since it looks just like previous build
Installation instructions:
1. Download rom zip file.
2. Download modem zip file (optional)
3. Copy files to root of your sd card
4. Boot into recovery.
5. Do a NAND back up (optional but strongly recomended).
6. If you still running any GB build flash/apply Calkulin's format all zip. This step can be skipped if you running ICS builds. I have tried flashing this rom over 2 different ICS roms and had no problems.
7. Apply rom zip in recovery.
8. Apply modem zip in recovery.
9. Boot to system.
I'm uploading 2 versions of this rom:
1. With Rogue repacked FC07 kernel for those of you who want to keep CWM
2. With stock kernel (no CWM recovery).
You can download tFC18_v0.1.0 here:
1. http://jumbofiles.com/qd82v383u8gp With repacked FC07 until SH will release new kernel
Mirror: http://d-h.st/wkz
2. http://jumbofiles.com/yiwbtd9od3ky stock kernel no CWM recovery
You can download tFC18_v0.1.1 here:
1. http://d-h.st/Zyx dev-host.org
2. http://jumbofiles.com/kxpm4s28nrxw Mirror. Jumbofiles.com
tFC18_v0.1.1 with stock kernel no CWM recovery:
http://jumbofiles.com/7on3croboa0r/tFC18_v0.1.1_stock_kernel.zip.html
Mirror:http://d-h.st/a4R dev-host.org
Removed app zip:
1. http://d-h.st/p8w dev-host.org
2. http://jumbofiles.com/q2vepwjdvu3n Mirror. Jumbofiles.com
WiFi tether for root users is needed with v0.1.0 only and works fine just have to set the device as Samsung Galaxy Nexus CDMA/LTE as with all ICS builds.
I tried to incorporate the app into rom but it wouldn't work after flash. So if you don't have it you can download it from here:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wifi_tether_v3_1-beta11.apk&can=2&q=
You would need to flash modem separately.

Please keep in mind this is a work in progress and is currently intended for devs only. Do not flash if you don't know what you're doing.
Ok, after making some progress towards getting this thing ready for user-space, I've decided to finally start a thread on it just to see if I can get anyone interested or willing to help... This ROM is currently in below Alpha status (if there is such a thing) and does not boot, but I believe I can get it booting in about a week barring a system crash or a zombie apocalypse. Again, this is only meant for a jumping off point towards getting AOSP ICS on our I957s, so don't blame me if you flash this and your tab becomes bricked...

Base drivers can be used from the msm8660 ics source code provided by Code Aurora, and proprietary can be used from the stock Honeycomb firmware. Hopefully.

Yes, but the problem is we would probably need our own ICS kernel to get most of the stuff working. I'll try my hand at ICSMOD5, but I'm not sure if anything will work without a dedicated kernel.

Ok, I'm not really going to be able to use my tab for dev purposes this weekends, but if you want to try a port here's what you need to do.
1) Setup a build enviornment in dsixda's kitchen with ICSMOD5.
2) You'll need to look at the updater-script and change the partition blocks according to the Tab (e.g system needs to be 25 instead of 24).
3) Two ways to do 3. One: grab the kernel from this thread and put it in ICSMOD, or Two: You could just leave the kernel as is. I'm wary of option Two.
4) Flash it. If it doesn't boot, try to get a logcat and send it my way. If it does, then yay ICS.

OK I have followed these instructions; downloaded ICSMOD5, set up the kitchen, grabbed the kernel (assuming that's boot.img) from your zipfile in the first post of this thread and copied it to the working folder, overwriting the Skyrocket kernel.
Then I looked at the updater script to see if partitions need changing. Per this post the layout looks OK. Example: /system is p24 and /boot is p08 already.
So far so good? Planning a test for later today.
Exciting let me know how it goes

Team Rogue for FD02 repacked kernel with CWM recovery
Thank Tiffany84 for initial ICS theme she made for us.
v0.1.1
Look didn't change.
All changes are in tweaks.
1. Added VM managment.
2. Internet speed
3. Battery tweaks in buid.prop and in init.d
4. Undervolt -50 mv (thanks to Calkulin and his script)
5. Kernel tweaks in init.d (hope it works as planned).
6. Low memory.
Rom:
I present tFD05 rom.
1. Touch of ICS theme by Tiffany84
2. Added AOSP gallery for nice widget
3. Changed settings background to GNex scaled grey (thanks Ben's for help and research)
4. Removed boot sound
5. Added enhanced Camera.apk (thanks to Calkulin, KCRic and little bit to me)
6. Removed stock boot animation
7. International SGS II Boot animation.
8. Added app to switch between MTP and USB storage.
9. CRT animation zip file will be uploaded later. Just check Misc. Stuff in my signature.
If you need tether you should fall back to wifi tether for root users for now.
Installation instructions:
1. Download rom zip file.
2. Download modem zip file (optional)
3. Copy files to root of your sd card
4. Boot into recovery.
5. Do a NAND back up (optional but strongly recomended).
6. If you still running any GB build flash/apply Calkulin's format all zip. This step can be skipped if you running ICS builds. I have tried flashing this rom over FD02 ICS rom and had no problems. Also I have flashed rom after using Calk's format all script. No problems either.
7. Apply rom zip in recovery.
8. Apply modem zip in recovery.
9. Boot to system.

appreciate all the work you put it to make it look proper thanks
good:
So just to be sure I can flash this over FC22 without a wipe? And if I'm not doing a wipe will I keep or lose my data?
Thanks

Just flash rom and modem right over fc22. Full wipes are always the best but you should be fine. I've had no issues flashing over previous ics leaks.
Any difference?? Anything new??

I don't remember if I checked it on FD02 but sprint TV is working fine in this build. Did ran few speed tests and I think the modem is bit faster as well.
Didn't have much time to check the new build thru so can't much more to this.
Hope in couple of days we will know more.
Nice job getting this out after your b-day weekend, agat; sounds like it was a big/good celebration.
I'm thinking I'm going to sit tight on tFD02 0.1.1 for the moment... it's just running so well; the only significant issue I have is the notification bug -- like Calk says I may sit tight until that gets fixed, or until I hear something else significant is improved in FD05.
Then again, I'll probably get the itch to flash again if/when you put out a tFD05 0.1.1 with tweaks etc.

Yesterday after uploading this build I went ahead and tried deodexing the rom.
I was able to do it for about 90% of it. Few apps giving me problems.
Tonight I'll try to finish it and will go back to my attempts to repack the kernel and add CWM recovery to it.
Anyhow, I hope in couple of days to have a tweaked version out. So far this rom runns little bit faster for me. Did few quadrant tests and got very high 3000's and low 4000's in score. Linpack is slightly higher as well.
May be it's because of odexed version since I always use deodexed versions I can't say with certainty why I'm getting higher scores on this one.
Because of build or because of it's being odexed.

v0.1.1 Deodexed.
There were few requests for deodexed version of this rom so here we go:
Same as 0.1.0 just deodexed.
No other tweaks or changes been added to rom.

5. Silenced Camera.apk as much as I could. It does make sound only when getting focus. No shutter sound, no recording sound on video.
6. Removed stock boot animation
7. Added International SGS II Boot animation.
8. Added app to switch between MTP and USB storage.
9. Removed bloatware.
Added tweaks:

What you said. Besides... I clean-installed back around FD02, so I should be good, right?
edit: dl'd, MD5 checked, flashed, rebooted -- looking good so far.
Thanks for this rom.
Your link to the modem is incorrect.
It's the same as the link to the rom.
Could you fix that please?

Agat, you the man!
Everything works great so far!
GPS locks fast but GPS location accuracy is not close to the stock rom (not sure why).
From the stock rom I've got 4 ~ 6m but with this, it's about 10 ~ 20 meters. Tried many times but not getting better.
Try to download it but in the download page the file name is tFD16_v0.1.0 instead of tFD16_v0.1.1.

No worry. Actual file name is tFD16_v0.1.1 and after flashing it, it also shows 0.1.1.
Just go ahead and download it.
Will flash shortly...
also posted in Calks thread to see if anyone knew how to raise the mms compression.

Did you do md5 comparison?
I did calk full wipe then de-odexed rom and then modern then reboot to system.
It was late at night and my clock (my phone) wasn't available for use to time it. But I would say about 3-4 minutes initial boot. But I was laying in bed sleepy so could be wrong. Could be shorter.
I always do md5 comparison on phone since one time I had bad download on phone from wifi.
I use "Android file verifier" here's the link for the free one.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sa.afv
I use the purchased one.

Scrolling definitely is smoother than FD05. I didn't try FD10 so maybe it was improved in that version also

Modem and kernel seem more stable and battery settled in far faster then FD10. FD10 was kind of sloppy as if they made some sort of changes in a certain direction. This one seems tight again.

I'm with you! Last night, I wiped all - it's been a several months did that - to make more accurate test. Battery life is the biggest concern and I'm happy with that Agat is showing many process on his tweak and init.d script. Keep going!
