I installed CM7 and everything works fine so far except that the phone doesn't pick up the sim card at all. Is there a fix?
Edit: Nevermind it's fixed

Sorry, to disturb.
Do you mean, the sim card isn't working completely, or do you mean,
you can phone, but you have no access to the contactlist of your simcard?
I'm just a newbie

My phone is able to go online, send SMS, receive calls and does everything that I need it to except making calls out. Every time I tried to, it will go straight from "dialing" to "call ended". No ringtone, nothing.
Funny thing is if I put the sim card into another phone, it will do everything including making calls out. If I put another sim card into the Desire Z, it works fine, make calls and everything else.
I went and swap over to a new sim card and it still have the same problem.
This phone has been giving me grief since I bought it in late Dec 2010. When I first bought it (online), it worked one day and could not be turned back on after a day. Had to return it and had the mainboard replaced. It will p*ss me off badly if it turn out this time that it is another mainboard problem.
I usually use it in Australia using 3 and Optus without any problem.
I am currently in Malaysia & Singapore and this is happening with Maxis (Malaysia) and Singtel (Singapore) sim card.
Thanks for your opinion / suggestion / help.
Anyone??? Please HELP!!!!
Thanks.

What does it do when you tried to dial? Did you change sim cards recently?
Edit.. nvm I guess you changed sims a few times. Wish I could help. Not familiar with changing countries.

Eh? So which is it? It works with a new SIM or not?
The same behaviour was caused by using a wrong international numberformat on my girlfriends phone. Did you try typing the phone number manually instead of using a contacts app?
Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
I emailed HTC and they inform me that this could be a software problem.
So I had to hard reset the phone and it worked.
I guess I might have to do that whenever I change different sim from different country.
By hard reset, do you mean a battery pull? I have the same problem now.
Edit: Nevermind, it seems to be a carrier problem.

I think by hard reset, he means a factory data reset. Pulling the battery is a soft reset. No different from rebooting.

I had to do a factory reset. Meaning everything will be reset, all data and apps lost.
I have a G2 rooted with cyanogen mod 6.1.1 and today randomly I started receiving No Service and now wherever I go I get No Service. Drove over 20 miles today and no service the whole way thru. I also reflashed the rom and everything still getting No Service.
Why is this happening?
Did You call t-mobile?

Why would I do that? It's rooted
Maybe your apn settings got erased or changed, did you check to see if they are the right settings for Tmobile data. Also checking with Tmobile to make sure your data plan is still active and hasn't been turned off for some reason, you don't need to tell them you rooted your phone.

Ok dumb question but I have to ask, are you sure you don't have airplane mode on? If not then I would call Tmobile and just verify your account is ok and active. Start the process of elimination.

Haha it's cool airplane mode is off and was off. I called T-Mobile everything is okay with my account they want to do a Master Reset. I'm guessing I need to unroot my phone first?

I would try under setting/privacy/factory data reset first, if that doesn't help then try flashing a diffrent rom, like maybe Enoms or stock+rooted before you resort to unrooting.

Did you try re-seating the sim card? Pull it out and then stick it back in again....maybe its a little loose.

I tried that. It didn't work. And besides if it was loose it would say No SIM card right?

If you can establish a wifi connection, go to the market and download a program called phone info by [email protected] Make sure you get the correct one since there are several with the same name. Install that and see if that helps you to get more information about your problem. It also enables you to change some of your phone's settings.

Okay I'll try that shortly, but I just removed root and restored the original rom and I still don't have signal.
Edit: So hours after talking to T-Mobile I found out that it's just that my sim is so old that it burned out.
Okay now that I replaced the sim card still nothing. And the new sim works in another phone. I unrooted and got a new sim card, so I have no idea what to do now.
i cant get my sd card to be recognized on my laptop. im thinking its something i mistakenly did to my laptop since it worked last week. i also tried the card reader and it didn't work. just wondering of someone has had this problem hanks

What OS are you running on your laptop?
What does this have to do with tethering? If can't read the card in your phone and PC then it is the card. if it works fine on one and not the other then you have your answer.

Hi all,
I have a Wildfire S (GSM, Europe) with SIM from one of the Serbian carriers, Telenor Serbia. Phone is rooted (unlocked, S-ON), and my favourite pastime in the last several weeks is trying out all possible ROMs I can put my fingers on. At the moment I'm using Cyanogen 9 alpha (9.1.0-cryptomilk) and I'm very satisfied, camera recording doesn't work, but I hardly ever used it and everything else does work so I'm fine I guess.
Last night, I've tried AOKP ROM from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985437
After flashing, radio stopped working, no signal from carrier. I thought, bad rom, whatever, and did nandroid restore to my Cyanogen 9. Radio remained dead.
System settings -> About Phone -> Status shows network as disconnected and unknown, but IMEI and phone number are visible.
I've removed this SIM from phone and tried using another SIM, same carrier, and it worked perfectly. Also tried putting original SIM in other phone, same carrier, and same thing happened with other phone (some ancient Nokia), radio dead, SIM info readable.
Guess this isn't a radio problem since other SIM card worked well with it (and phone was S-ON all the time, not sure, but I'm guessing that this should prevent manual radio updates, please correct me if I'm wrong). SIM doesn't work in other phones, so my guess is that I've somehow managed to fry it during AOKP ROM flashing or first run. Is this possible at all?
All clues I've seen so far mentioned formatting some SIM internals using some raw Android block devices, reading on...
Please help

Probably a coincidence.
So, I just rooted my Kitkat z1c using xxxOOO's method. It was a bumpy ride but in the end it worked.
Now, there is a funny bug / phenomenon. Whenever I turn on the phone it goes through the "first use" moves. Asking me for language, making me tick a Sony EULA checkbox etc.
Any idea why or how I can get rid of that?
I had the same problem for several reboots, but eventually it did stick.
Hehe, did you also take your SIM out to old phone while tinkering? I noticed it stuck when I first inserted the SIM after rooting / flashing.
Might have been a coincidence though.
Problem solved for me.
I have the same problem and after a few days it still there
Any solution? I even think that it is preventing that the screen asking for the SIM unlock code shows up
Cheers
