EDIT: I had to do the OTA update which upgraded me to Gingerbread (2.3.3) in order to use Revolutionary. Problem is solved.
Unboxed my brand new Dinc 2, and came to this forum immediately to follow instructions to get S-OFF. Got my computer to recognize the phone, got my beta key and everything.. but after a minute of revolutionary doing it's thing, I get:
Code:
Waiting for fastboot...
Rebooting to fastboot (Once moar...)
FAILED - Go have some lemonade!
Press (almost) any key to exit.
I can't imagine what I'm doing incorrectly. I cancelled the OTA download when I activated the phone.

Did you install the HTC drivers? Make HTC sync is uninstalled. Try again

Fixed it, I just hadn't updated to the 2.3.3 OTA update. Silly me.
Glad you got it fixed. Pretty wild that you got a new one that wasn't even updated to 2.3.3 yet Most everyone has been getting 2.3.4 lately.
Enjoy the rooted Inc2

Hi,
I just received a couple of new Desires with HBOOT 0.93.0001 preinstalled.
Has anyone seen this before, and is it safe to root?
Thanks,
Adam
Go into settings and about and list firmware details.u might have a new radio too.
Hoot prob 4 slcd tho

You don't root a bootloader. But if you have Froyo, you will not be able to root it. You'll have to downgrade the software first.
Did you get the Desire from Vodafone UK? I know their new 2.2 OTA update changes the HBOOT to 0.93 apparently (which can't be rooted at present)
Thanks for the quick responses.
The Desires did indeed come from VF UK, and yes they are SLCD.
The radio version is the same as the one I've seen on this site: 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
Looks like I'll have wait until one of the hacking ninjas works out an easy way to get a root applied to a Froyo desire...

1. Can it be rooted
2. Is it slcd or amoled
It can be rooted my desires hboot is the same. I think its amoled but you can ring HTC and they will tell you.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
If it was just the mobo and you were on 0.80 then you're on AMOLED...either way you can root without issues
Yes it can bee rooted mine is also 0.93
look at this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776696
same hboot, radio and slcd and i was able to root using unrevoked 3.21
Tried unrevoked 3.21 (4 - 5 times) and it would not root it. Spoke to guys on irc and they dont know why it did not work.
Wondering if I should go down the downgrade 2.2 to 2.1 then root then use a custom rom back to 2.2. I want to try the cyanogen rom really.
OH and thanks guys
What happens (or not) when you try?
Bascially it says its doing it but it aint.
Waiting for boot when its already rebooted.
Pushing recovery when its not.

Any success yet?
Did you buy yours with this version of Hboot or was it upgraded via OTA? when?
a couple of mates have same problem can't root 0.93.0001
Yeah all sorted now thanks. Followed the "how to" at the unlocker
Rooted with unrevoked
Rom manager failed to flash 2 or 3 different roms so I flashed with Leedroid 2.2f using clockwork.
reports that you can flash cyanogen rom with amom ra bit not tried that way yet.
Happy with leedroid for now any way.
I had to send my .80 boot back to HTC for repair (GPS problem) and it came back with a new mobo and software.
You can root if you follow the correct "How to" some miss a few things out

Just rooted mine last night, no problems.
Am on T-Mobile UK, HBOOT 0.93.0001, radio etc all same as yours, all latest s/w from TMUK as I had just received it back from repair recently.
My steps:
Used Unrevoked 3.22.
Download htc sync, install, then uninstall the sync application, leaving the drivers on. Didn't need to mess with hboot drivers in my case.
Attached device, connected in disk drive mode with usb debugging enabled.
Ran Unrevoked.
That was it.
My PC runs Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit.
I follow the same steps still same hanging with "Waiting for root... (safe to restart if this doesn't work). My ROM is:RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC__ARA_2.32.415.3_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157343_signed.exe
I've bought a unlocked Bell DZ in christmas and I've been waiting for Gingerbread update since then. However, I've noticed my phone never got the March update and I'm not getting the 2.3.3 update either.
This is what I see when I boot in the recovery mode

I got the 2.3.3 update.zip from a xda fellow and put it in my sd card root folder.
However, I got an error saying the version doesn't match.
I guess I bought the phone with S-OFF and I saw a thread not to flash to an older RUU if i have S-OFF? I've noticed the RUU I found said "RUU_Vision_BellMobility_WWE_1.34.666.1_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.18_M2_release_154437_signed.exe " which is M2 not M3?
Any guru want to help me out?
Thanks a bunch!
sorry to hear you are having trouble updating. would you be able to get a hold of a roger's or telus sim just to do the update?
I am running the same Firmware but my phone is not unlocked.
I had set up the cyanogen mod but flashed with that firmware to get the 2.3 update.
Just got off the phone with bell.
What they're saying is the firmware version 2.2 is not the original version needed to upgrade to 2.4
They gave me 2 options:
1) Send it in to the manu. To get it flashed.
2) do it my damn self.
I will update the thread later with my findings.

Hey, I have a Bell Desire Z that I purchased used and now realized has been modified in some way before. It was at some Froyo version, but then I applied the OTA gingerbread update because I did not know at the time that it was modified. It is carrier unlocked for sure. In the boot loader it has the following settings:
VISION PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.0013
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.10.04.12_M
eMMC-boot
Apr 11 2011, 23;36;27
So I assume it has S-Off, but it does not have root. I tried to run gingerbreak, but it just stayed at the rooting process screen for 15 minutes so I closed it. If I want to flash a CM7 rom, what will I need to do? Thanks!

Hi, i am in the same situation as you do, I ve loocked up on the internet with no luck, and I finally got to this post. I wonder wether it worked for you, because I try to install recovey from rom manager, but it says, I do not have enough permissions. Did you succeed installing the recovery?
I would be gratefull if you can give me some light on this matter, cause I am lost.

I have been in knowledgeable of root since the Droid Eris and I rooted my past Incredible perfectly fine but it had an AMOLED screen so it was no biggie, so I'm really no noob. Just need really detailed advice lol.
I tried to root my Droid Incredible with unrevoked 3.22 and flash the custom recovery 5.0.2.0 but it failed like many others. It would say my firmware was too new. So I decided to downgrade with a PB31IMG of 2.2 but now I'm at a constant boot loop with the HTC Quietly Brilliant and the Droid bootanimation and cant get past that. I tried to flash the latest OTA from ---> http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=22 <--- and it didn't flash because it said it was too old. I'm just tryin to root my Incredible. I need to use my phone. Somebody please help asap! I just bought the phone and I'm not done paying it off from someone. Or if I can get a PB31IMG file of the 6.20.2012 update. Much appreciated.
It doesnt matter if its stock, I just want it to turn on.
I have used the method I used on my old incredible from here ---> http://mobile-overload.com/topic/18-how-to-rootdowngrades-off-234/ <--- so my laptop is already ready for hacking.
EDIT: I can't get passed bootanimation bc I flashed old software through bootloader
Problem SOLVED. Read posts below if you have the same problem, it works.

Use the htcdev site to unlock your bootloader. Then you can fastboot flash cwm recovery, and then flash su thru recovery, and your rooted. Getting s-off takes a couple more steps if you want it. You can follow one of these guides.

It is all done thru fastboot, while in hboot. Just skip the ruu part of the htcdev instructions, as you already have an unlockable bootloader.

Alright. My device won't show up and it doesn't install drivers....so I'm just going to install the drivers in the instructions.....once I remember how lol
EDIT: Didn't need to download drivers. My usb cable didnt read my phone through fastboot but i switched it with another and now it does. I didn't know there was a proceed button on the HTCdev website lol I wondered where the "step # through # came from. I think I may have it from here. Ill update.
EDIT2: I'm at the point where Im re-writing the misc image but when I type "adb devices" in the command prompt it doesn't see my device it says "adb devices listed and nothing shows up. What could I do? I'm so close to rooting this thing. I set it up before when I rooted my old Amoled Incredible and don't think ive changed anything, it shouldve showed up. Please help.

You have not updated the hboot yet, it should be 2.029 not 2.027. (apparantly there is also a 2.030 but I dont know we're that came from cause the ones on HTCdev I've seen are 2.029 and 0.85.24)
Once you have done the full ruu hboot update from HTCdev then you can get OEM token, send it off to HTC, get the unlocktoken.bin via email from HTC the use the bin file to unlock the locked bootloader.
