Im+ needs GPS why? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I just noticed this today when I loaded Im+ that it was trying to obtain my location (using GPS). After searching Google I couldn't find any info. Anyone here know the answer? This is the paid, no ad version btw.

Listed in the list of supported features on the IM+ Market page
"Share your Geo location with you buddies through status message."
That right there will require GPS.

Ok, this is getting outrageous. I can search fo a market app, skype for example. I click on it, and there's no f*%$ing install button. Just gives me all the app info. Has anyone found a workaround? Skype is cleary labeled to work on the Epic.

Best VOIP solution

Does anyone have any suggestions for VOIP calls on the evo?
I'd like to have some sort of google voice integration with it if possible. I visit a few places with no cell signal that do have wifi access. Anyone used any good span services for this?
Pardon my lack of thorough searching... this xda app doesn't seem to lend itself to searching very well...

You can always use Google to search for answers, then tag xda at the end. It is easier than using the native search function

I use "site:xda-developers.com (search criteria)" in Google to search xda instead of the native search app.

unusual problem with location caching.

Hey Guys,
I've had my Galaxy Nexus for a while now, lately the browser cannot find my location, G+ (the app cannot find my location for nearby posts OR check in), facebook app can't find my location either, nor does twitter or any other client. I do get a decent lock on (with just data/wifi based location) in Google Maps.
Why is it that the other apps are failing to do so? Is anyone else facing this? or does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
Bump

Did you make sure your GPS is enabled and in settings you are allowing it to be used in apps? Just checking...

No gps is disabled, I'm talking about network based location which the app fails to get. How do I check if my settings are allowing the apps to use location data?
Have you set all three options under localization services?

Voice search, wrong location

Hey XDA
I'm located in Denmark, and i'm a great fan of the voice search thing.
However, when i ask about weather, it always comes up with the weather in Washington, unless i ask specific for Denmark (which is quite large)
Imo it should just give me weather for my current location..
Anyone know how to change this?

Perhaps a silly question : Is your GPS on?

Try going to settings, then Privacy and Accounts, and make sure the "search on Google.com" box is unchecked. This way your local Google site will be used instead. Worked for me

Apps that work with google now?

So when I was looking at the settings for google now, there's a setting called tablet search which is a select list of your apps that google now presumably uses in order to answer your question to the best of it's ability. You can enable or disable whether or not google uses that app to give you an answer.
My question to you is do you know of any additional apps that will appear on the tablet search menu?
I haven't done much searching but I downloaded the IMDB app and it showed up on the list, and I enabled it.
Thank you,
