[Q] No alarm-sound after deep-sleep? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

since a few weeks i have the problem, that when i set an alarm and go to bed, the alarm-notification will show up the next morning, but i dont hear any sound. the phone is in airplane- and vibrate-only-mode at night, but the setting that alarmsound should be played even while in silent/vibrate-only is ticked.
When i set the alarm to test it in the near future, it always works as it should (with the same settings (airplane+vibrateonly)).
I'm on cm7.1 final with lordmodue-v8.0 kernel and using the default clock-app with an mp3 put into the media-folder on my sd.
Did anyone experiance similar problems before? I cant remember any significant changes to my phone before this problem first occured.

I did the same thing as you once, the alarm indeed did not ring. Solution: Change the profile form Vibrate/Silent --> Normal. it worked for me

Thx for the respons, but didnt work for me

Additionaly i noticed, that when i charge or have charged absolutly no sound is produced...no alarm, no ring and not even a voicecall (the other person seems to her me, but i can not hear them). Damit

Have you seen an app called "volume control" from the market? There's an option to change alarm volume, it might have somehow been turned down?

The volume level itselfe is definitivly not changed, this shouldnt be the problem...

perhaps you are a deep sleeper like my sis? xD

Haha, i wish it would be that easy. I have a light sleep and have always wake to the alarms befor this problem.
i discovered, that when i change to silent and back to loud after charging sounds work as normal. I"m gona try this with tasker for the alarm, maybe it'll help too.

Still didnt work
switched to black ice 1.23....everything serms to work fine now

Alarm bug

Hi,
Anyone quickly shut off their alarm to find it won't turn off? I've done it a few times now. If the alarm goes off and you quickly swipe down, the alarm continues to sound and the only way I've found to turn it off is to switch off the phone fully.
Yup had that too...
Very Annoying, having to apologize to the people around you for the constant alarm sounding during the reboot......
If anybody knows a fix ?
i had this problem too today, my suggested fix is to go into settings and enable the volume keys to also switch off the alarm, cant vouch for it as definitive as it happened to me for the first time today but its worth a try

[Q] Kindle Fire notification volume = 0

After rooting my v.6.1 KF, manually updating to 6.2, and getting Gapps, Market, Go Launcher, WidgetLocker, etc., working my notification volume now goes to zero after setting it to > zero. Also, when choosing a notification sound, even with volume turned up, you get no notification sound. Other sound is fine (Pandora, for example).
Any thoughts? I have a 'mute' icon for volume in the upper right notification area (where WiFi is). Seems like this was not an issue last night and might have been mucked up by WidgetLocker. I'll be trying a workaround based on that theory later today but for now work calls :\
EDIT: Solved! See below.
There is an app called "Volume Control" that will let you set the various types of notifications individually. e.g. it separates notification from media from system. Very helpful.
Just had to deal with a similar problem.
As somebody else on this forum stated, the probable culprit is Widgetlocker.
I had it installed for a while, played with the settings and unintentionally changed the ringtone to mute (the right slider on the lockscreen). Had to re-install the app (had it uninstalled), changed the ringtone back to normal and voila - notification sounds are back.
Oh my God I can't believe that after all the relatively complex things I've done over the past two days that my answer to the one problem which kicked my butt hard enough to post about it was "you broke it yourself" lolol. The WidgetLocker volume slider was the problem. I had slid it to mute and never thought about it again. Everything's back to normal. Can't wait to get TWRP and CM7 running over the holidays!
Thanks for this! It made me look at the icon I thought meant "Mute" and really meant "Do Not Disturb". Turning that off brought the sound back. Thank God. Lol. I was also looking for complicated issues and blamed Amazon. Sorry!

Ever Use XP as an Alarm Clock?

Ever used your XP to replace your alarm clock? Has it been a good substitute? I'm thinking of doing that... I'm wondering if it will work better than the broken one I have now and the cheap one I bought from Walmart...
I use it all the time, it's loud and obnoxious. Just the thing you'll need to wake up in the morning haha. It's easy to set too, and you can have lots of different alarms set, it's a pretty sweet built in clock/alarm.
Yes. Yes. It is very very good as an alarm.
I use alarm clock plus, it's free and more obnoxious than STOCK

I use the Xperia Play as my default alarm clock and I use the ' Xperia ' ringtone for the alarm. Sounds so nice in the morning
I have the dock and it makes the XP the best Alarm Clock ever.
when it wakes me up I never now which button is snoose and which is disable - I wish they were bigger in size and coloured red and green to make it more visible
Combined with the dock, it's my current alarm clock. I use the " rise up" melody, because it's nice enough, and it's been fine so far.
I've used it before as an alarm. It was good. It woke me up anyway.

Yeah, I guess this should all make sense since you can hook it up with a speaker...
Yup use it everyday, I have the XP dock sitting beside my bed, threw out my old alarm clock.

So what if the sound is off (from the power button) to not wake people up because of notification sounds... will it still beep or make noise to wake you up?
I place my phone right next to my head and I wake up to Edith Piaf, Inception baby!
I use the default alarm clock that's in stock, I don't like the standard ringtone, hence why it's easy to wake up every morning

The alarm clock will still go off as loud as possible even with sound off, no need to worry. I keep my phone on vibrate at all times and it has never failed to play the alarm sounds and wake me up.
Always! Stock alarm clock with the Piezo Alarm as the sound with volume all the way up... Very ear piercing! Even if I snooze the alarm for about 40 minutes or until my mum yells at me to actually get up.
please note i have had some issues with the alarm not going off even though i set a test alarm and i didnt use a task killer.

That exact same thing has happened to me maybe once or twice. It would just say that my alarm is set for the next day, like it was skipped or something.
I bought the XperiaPlay dock since it was only cheap for this very purpose.
Sadly, didn't realise I couldn't use it with any kind of case.
So I have been unable to use the dock.
Wow, this is some coincidence. I was just about to post and saw this topic.
Just got my dock. Only problem is, the phone doesn't go into the alarm clock mode as shown in the pictures. I guess it's because of some bloatware i removed. can someone please tell me what app is required for the dock-clock mode?
Also, like some people are using it, I would also be keeping it on a small side-table next to my bed, with both cables unplugged. Since the phone is plugged into the earphone jack on the dock, wouldn't that disable the phone speakers and therefore no alarm sound?

stupid silent mode!

MOD EDIT I edited the title. Some of the words were not needed to convey your meaning @gregbradley
This has been up around before, i have searched and not found an answer.
Someone had the bright idea that "Do Not Disturb" puts the Alarm out of business. A Genius idea, since 95% of the world use "Do not disturb" when they sleep.
I am a very light sleeper. I am currently faced with the most annoying problem ever, and due to waking up 15times a night, i am getting beyond adjudicated due to lack of a good nights sleep. You guessed it, i wake up from the vibration!
The LG G3. Turn it all the way, and you get Virbate, Alarm still works.
Do not disturb, no vibrate, ahh nice, but now no Alarm.
I came from a G2, where i could pick Vibrate of full silent with only Alarm working. THIS IS THE F'ing feature thats missing, and i am fully aware that this is a know issue for most G3 users.
Who the heck came up with this stupid idea, and how can get to a point where my phone is dead silent but the ONLY sound that MUST work is from the Alarm?!
Is there a work around, is there an app i can use, anything, please help me get some SLEEP!
I agree that the only days I missed school is because of this Do not disturb feature I use when I'm busy and.... I miss my alarm!
But missing work is just not an option for me.
This is a situation of doomed if you and doomed if dont, and i dont want to be put in that position by my freaking phone!

If i could, i would. But you cant. when the phone is on vinrate only.
I found a way to work around this now, but its beyond stupid.
Honestly, its like a woman did this. No logic and damn complicated.

Settings --> Sound --> Notifications --> Do Not Disturb --> Schedule -- Set the times and days you do not want to be interrupted, set the end time to be a few minutes before your alarm is due to go off, remember you need to start it from the night before, so if you work Monday to Friday you need to choose Sunday to Thursday, assuming that you go to sleep before midnight that is.
You can now leave your phone on normal volume, do not need to to mute or set to vibrate only.
Use priority mode, I had the same issue as you until I figured out how to use priority mode and keep it completely silent.
sound - notifications - do not disturb - make sure calendar events are ticked...
after wards go to home screen, set to DND and press volume down once you will get "
Do not disturn
1. on Priority Off
Select priority and presto! eveything else but calendar events (alarms) will be silent.

I use Sleep as Android and it'll do exactly what you're looking for - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.sleep&hl=en
I've got mine set up to just buzz my watch first, then a failsafe that goes off on my watch and phone.
Ooooo looks brilliant!!! Do all the other features like sleep tracking etc drain the battery much then?

It used to drain your battery totally, but dev recently got it working excellent instead.
Now our sw3 is one of the most battery efficient watch
To run the app on, battery "drains" around 17% over night, which is great since it various sensors are being used.
Regarding vibration on the watch in general: I think it's as easy as, if an app generates vibration alerts on your phone, it'll generate these on the watch too.

Ooooo brilliant! Thanks for the info I'll give it a shot over the weekend then when I've had time to mess with all the settings, annoying though as I like using timely and would really just like it to vibrate my watch...

I just got the SW3 yesterday. I'm trying to get my alarms to sync, found this an tried Sleep as Android. However, it seems no matter what settings I use, my watch only buzzes once very briefly for the alarm while it goes off as normal on my phone. As if just a notification that an alarm is going off. Is this just how it works? Any ideas?
I followed the "instruction" chapter on wearables to enable Smartwatch in the app and enabled the vibration (Smartwatch) from start option, but I can't find any other real set up options or instructions.

I made two alarms - One with the phone vibrating / making noise, and the watch vibrating, then one set ~5 min before that, set to silent, and disabled vibration (so the phone does nothing), and set the Vibrate (Smartwatch) to "From start" as well.
When the first alarm goes off, mine buzzes once briefly at the time of the alarm, and then once again maybe 30 seconds later, then it starts getting more frequent after that. When I just went to check what my settings were, I also noticed there's an option to start the watch vibration "before" the alarm - though I'm not sure how much before the alarm "before" is, since it doesn't seem to be configurable, but that may alleviate my use of two alarms.
Hope that helps!
Official Clock app from Google
now u can install on any android and the alarm appear on smartwatch , to dismiss or postpone
