So today im going to flash a new rom on my Dinc. It was rooted before but the SD card that was in it is the one here in my tbolt. Can I flash a new rom on the Dinc? Or will it not work? Is it still rooted? How do I find out? I thought I could do a factory wipe on the phone to make it "stock" but my phone still ended up with the old rom. What should I do? I don't want to brick my phone. My gf will be unsing it soon.

If you still have a custom recovery on your phone, it's rooted. In order to return to the stock ROM, you must flash the stock ROM. If you want to go completely back to stock and unroot, then follow the return to stock directions. Here, let me google that for you.

Hey, can anyone tell me the risks of rooting/using a custom ROM and such?
very hard to muck it up with unrevoked, just follow the instructions. dead simple.
Meant having it rooted
well, you wont get OTA updates, but the plus sides are you get custom roms that are tailored for whatever you want, speed, looks, etc, plus aps2sd, the main reason i took the plunge...
Yeah, but I can always return to factory defaults and then get the OTA updates right?
using clockworkmod recovery that is installed when you use unrevoked, make a nandroid backup, use restore to go back to original state, then you will get OTA again, no point though, just pick another rom! I can recomend Roufianos.com Desire V6 rom, had no trouble yet. happy rootin....
Thanks for the advice.

Well Im having problems with my current rom and i would like to go back to the stock rom. Now I went here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685835 and tried the .exe and the zip but none of them work. Im currently using MIUI V 12.3 final. Since that thread is more than 6 months old there has to be some other ways. This is killing me any help would be great.
Do you want to keep root? If not, just run one of the recent ruu's.
If you do want to keep root, just download the sprint lovers rom, and follow the instructions in the thread. It's that simple.
Does anybody use nandroid anymore?
Always nandroid the stock rom after its rooted and has a custom recovery.

i actually had 3 or 4 back ups of the original rooted stock but when i went to restore of them they werent there. I either deleted by accident or something else happens. i always back up my roms.

Now, this is a simple question, but I'm not going to flame. If you want to UNroot then this is what you want (this is the most current 3.70.651.1 software)

**WILL MAKE YOU LOSE ROOT**
My usb port is broken and I need to take it to verizon. Can anyone point out a good guide on how to revert my Inc2 back to stock. I'm running Android 2.3.5 rooted. Or can I just flash rmk's gingersense debloated and take it to the store?
Please tell me you made a nandroid backup of your factory system before you started modding it? If so, just boot into recovery and restore your factory backup. If not, you'll have to find a stock ROM and install it via a barcode scanner or something.
RMK's stock ROM link.
I do have a copy of rmk debloated rom. Back from august or something like that. But that was only after I took S-off. Should I just load that back on and not unroot?
Just find a stock ruu then use dropbox to get it on your phone. Rename then flash.

I just loaded rmk's stock gingerbread on there. It still has s-off though. So I should be good to take it back to the store now right? I tried my friend's charger at work to see if would charge and it wont. On the pc it keeps disconecting, tried 2 different cables. I know the battery is still good. Hopefully they don't make me pay 600 bucks for a new phone.
I am kinda new to flashing and I need to flash my phone back to stock rom w/out unrooting it.. i am having it flashed to Verizon Prepaid and need stock rom on it but i don't want to unroot it. Any help would be extremely greatfull.
Hey guys, sorry if this wasn't my place to start a new thread, but I can't find any others that help
I achieved root on my stock 4.3 rom and decided to go try some of the new 4.4 roms. However I was using TWRP at the time and it wouldn't restore my backup I made of the stock rom. So then I tried to install a custom touchwiz rom instead, and ended up hard bricking my device. It is now revived because I used the sd card method to boot, however it is back to hard brick if I try to remove the sd card. In circumstances like this I would normally Odin back to 4.1.1 and start from scratch, but as we know the bootloader has been locked which prevents downgrading. Any help out there? I messed up bad and now I can't restore to the stock firmware :crying:

Reflash the bootloader, rom, kernel and modem to the phone. You should be good. I did that to my phone 3 times last week.

I have tried that, at least 10 times over, it still does not help. If my phone is bricked like this, can they tell if I have been rooted? Because at this point I may have to go in with puppy eyes to try to get it fixed.
