Is there one or one in the works? Or is it even possible?
Not yet. Maybe. Check on goodandevo website. I heard something about that there.

I have used this kernel and I see no evidence of trickle charging when I look at Battery Monitor Widget.

Ugh that sucks i was really hoping it was a start for better battery life.

I'm running cm6.1.1 right now and OCed it to 1ghz using the cm kernal that it came with.
I was looking into pershoot's kernal, and was wondering what undervolt means?
If anybody has a link to show me about kernals in general, that would be swell.

It does exactly what it says on the tin.
Lets the CPU run off less battery. So in theory you should get better battery life and less likely to heat up excessively.
Google is your friend.

So even though it's undervolted, I should be still getting a good 1ghz speed on pershoot's?

Correct. You could try benchmarking both Pershoots kernel and a non-uv'd kernel to see the difference at 1ghz.... Thats only if your as anal as me though.
But yes, 1 ghz flys super quick on Pershoot's.

I was able to get around the same quadrant score with both cm kernal and pershoot's. I'll stay with pershoot since it's supposed to give longer battery life.
Thanks again.

That's good to know,.... good job for the feedback my man.
Peace out.
I just switched to an Evo from my Optimus V(best battery life ever) not too long ago. After countless days of unplugging my Evo and having 80% in 10 minutes, I was getting pissed and figured out that the kernel didn't support trickle charging.
So question is, what kernel can I use on stock 2.3 that supports trickle charging?

There are not any at this point. The only SBC (trickle charge) kernels that are out are for aosp roms. For some reason the few kernel devs we have here despise SBC. We had one with froyo but since gingerbread hit there has been nothing
So they just deal with the battery loss? Ugh.

Ugh is right. Even with AOSP ROMs using SBC Kernels, battery life has gone way down hill since Gingerbread came out.
I hope they get this all straight with ICS
Well that sucks. Guess ill be getting a 3500 quicker than I thought. Thanks for the replies!

I agree. Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo was the best battery EVER. 24 hours on stock, imagine my extended battery? Sadly, I fell in love with MIUI..I should be happy because it's theme city here.

The linked thread below is the definitive discussion on the Android OS bug. Please read the OP thoroughly before you ask whether ROM's or kernels fix the AOS bug. Bottom line, there is no fix.

I pm'd the OP to see if he minds if I copy the main content into this thread.
It definitely made sense to me. I mean if I charge my phone to full before I go to sleep and I have my 2 email accounts set to sync at maximum which I believe is 1 hour on stock email app then my Android OS is always going to be at the top until I actually start using the phone and if you are really using your phone then screen is always at the top of usage and if it was such a major battery drainer then when I woke up and my Android OS was at like 60% then I don't think my battery would look like this...

So are you in agreeance there is no bug and the percentages show just the way it should?
I do not believe there is a bug but people will argue there is so it is almost a waste of breath...If you click on Android OS you can actually see how much activity is uses. I am also waiting for someone to post a pic that has a high on screen time but still has a high percentage of Android OS.

Well, if its a bug (which it is acknowledged as and without a real fix) then its not something that's dinging my battery in any major way that's for sure. Edit..once I debloated my phone and got rid of the apps that run on their own, everything has been great here

I have been running Calks Rom 1.5a with Overstews ICS Theme. With this Rom and the Kernel that came with the Rom, I believe the kernel was the Rogue Kernel, I was having only 2% dedicated to the AOS. Two weeks ago I flashed the EG31 modem, which I feel I jumped the gun on that, but was still only running 2% for AOS. I flashed the EK02 kernel today and my AOS has been sitting at 14% and I really dont see any improvement in signal strength. Compared to some of the speed test I have seen in some of the forums, my data speeds seem really slow in comparison. Does anyone know if the jump from 2% to the 14% AOS I'm having will make that big of a difference in battery life? With my previous setup, I was able to run on a full charge for about 2 and a half days with moderate use.
I believe (and I may be wrong) that it was masked in the kernel more than it was an actual fix. Really your best bet is to re-calibrate your battery and give it a few battery cycles/days to settle in and then compare your results to previous setup

Any kernel patched up to .14 reports usage in a way that results in dramatically reduced usage attributed to AOS. Personally, even with the bug, the device is superb in the battery life department. If the ever truly quash this bug, it will leap to ridiculous.

Same android OS bug on 2.3.6 that I had on 2.3.4, draining around 5% an hour with very light use, and I've already wiped and reloaded apps one by one
apparently this bug is still present in android 4.0

If you remove Juice Defender and make some changes yourself, the battery will probably get better. That's why I asked to see a BBS log. Seems pretty mediocre to me. Not trying to #1 on your parade. If you're happy, that's all that matters.
It's been a while since I've paid much attention to mine, but a few months back I was easily getting roughly 4+ hours screen on time and 27 or so hours overall.
This was rooted stock firmware, stock kernel.
Read woodys battery thread. It may help you out. But like Aerowinder said, as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. Your battery life is certainly not bad, so if you've got things set up how you like, and you don't find yourself running low at bad times, you may not want to mess with it too much.

Sorry I don't know what a BBS log is :/
And I understand juice defender is an ongoing service that affects battery, but wouldn't the fact that it cuts data when the screen is off be better?
If juice defender takes up more battery by running than by data continuing to run at screen off, then I may change...

Hey All,
I flashed the Shiny ROM recently. I am getting pretty bad battery life though I didn't own the phone long enough before flashing a Shiny to know if this was a Shiny issue or not. Anyways, I like the ROM well enough but was curious if anyone could suggest another ROM that perhaps goes easier on the battery. I am just on the edge of getting a zero lemon battery but thought I might try a few more software tricks before I plunk down the cash for that battery.
I have already replaced the shiny kernel that is baked into the ROM with the KK422 kernel which I had heard is easy on the battery. Seems to be helping a bit so far.
I know that battery use is highly individual, I am mostly looking for a starting suggestion. I can run my own usage diagnostics.
Thanks yet again!
Use greenify and wakelockdetector. Also you can try to tweak with trickster to get better battery.

Thanks. After I wrote that OP it occurred to me, probably kernels more so than ROMs affect battery life. Just based on the little that I now that would seem to be the case. Is that true at all?
