cm7 market problem - HTC Wildfire S

hey i have cm7 on my wildfire-s awsome rom Thanks to alquez for putting in the time and effort to make this but it seems iam having force close problems now and again also when i try to buy something from the market it doesnt allow me ive read about screen orientation but it doesnt seem to fix it just wondering if anyone knows a fix for this? also iam looking for a classy theme to match my phone thanks in advance for any answers! Oh one more thing ive read people have over clocked this to 806 mhz without problems but when i try to set any speed above 600 it just crashs the phone and reboots i was thinking about doing another wipe and install dont know if this will fix it.

Why don't you report this in the CM7 thread??

Not all CPUs overclock same. try with different governors and settings. Mine works @806 stable

i cannot post in cm7 thread as it says iam a new member, i would love too just to at least say thank you to alquez, i dont understand what govners are so should i try all of them until i find one that works?

Thanks great advice userspace runs 806 mhz perfect! what a difference love it!

any chance of kernel development for hero?

Hi Modders and developers! I have noticed that the kernel of hero is locked so technically overclock widget and setcpu don't work on it! I was wondering if some of you can remove the perf locks from the kernel and compile a new kernel which can be used with setcpu and overclocked to liking! I know this is hard but please give it a try! Millions of hero users will be thankful to you! Thanks!
It's been discussed many times, as I understand once 2.1 is released the kernel source will soon follow, there's no point doing the work until we have it.
Well Lox released a beta kernel a while back for 1.5 firmware rom's to do this...
It was a beta release but here is the link anyway:
http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/302182/beta-run-your-hero-at-660mhz/
Sure it was discussed there were no noticeable improvements.
maxo64 was able to tweak it to run at 528mhz with screen on and 2** with screen off! so can any one of you change those while compiling a rom?
i searched every where but the only kernels that work with setcpu and actually allow you to overtweak and down tweak are for cdma hero! CDMA! please develop one for gsm hero.....
I second your motion! Was thinking of starting a thread with the same question...Would love to be able to down tweak to 192MHz when screen is off, or maybe even lower.

Hello,
setcpu and overclockwidget not work correctly, but with overclockwidget I see actual cpu freq., and if I "sleep" phone, freq. go down (24x) - if you very very quickly unlock screen, you ca see this.
I try this with VillainROM5,22 and Androbin1,111x.

Been done in aHero http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=638584
Probably wont be long before it is done in others, but you may have to request it from your dev.

[Q] overclocking desire causes reboot and crash

Current phone rom and radio in sig.
Im using SetCPU and anything over 1036Mhz will eventually crash. Anything over 1113Mhz will cause instant crash and reboot-to-crash loop.
I've tried other CPU programs and the same thing happens.
Is there something I'm missing here? Can I not simple set the CPU and have it run at that speed, or is there another mod I should have completed before attempting to overclock?
I've tried search, nothing came back relevant. If there is a thread I've missed feel free to link.
Many thanks.
overclock a device that is much faster then anyother device to make it even faster?! bit greedy wouldnt you say? anyways.. it is very likely that you might have damaged your CPU.. use search button seen this problem before
I wouldn't say I'm greedy but overclocking is available and when there are a lot of CPU heavy apps, things can slow down. I wouldn't necessarily say I am running a lot, but I like the smoothness o/c brings. For the few seconds before it crashes.
If it was damaged then it wouldn't work at all. I don't think that is the answer I'm looking for. Thanks all the same.

yeah I know.. that why we have cutom ROM, make the most of the phone we pay for
tried helping, with my limited knowledge about o/c'ing .. sorry !
if it's like PC overclocking, then it won't damage it unless you overvolt it - although some mods will allow this (custom kernels).

[Q] Clocking higher then 768 setcpu latest cm7 stable

Hello, to start yes I'm really stupid! I did watch the video in the start to try and find the answer to the following questions but it just confuses me and I would really like to get this done, thanks and on to the question!
So minutes ago I got my CM7 working for the first time! And right away I wanted to increase the clock of my CPU but it won't go higher then 768 on setcpu. From what I managed to understand its because of the kernel... So is it possible to increase the max clock with another kernel, if so whitch one and how much is safe to clock?
Thanks!
HTC Buzz (Wildfire)
Android version 2.3.7
Kernel version 2.6.35.14
Mod: Cyanogen 7.1.0.1 build GWK74
Yes its the kernel that controls CPU speed, test it for a while at 768mhz as not many wildfires can even cope with that, if you have problems random reboots, freezing etc then turn it down a little.
Kieranftw made a kernel called infinity ice or play I think? which made it possible to oc at 788 or 800mhz, mine was fine at 788 but very unstable at 800 so now I just settle for 768 as I didn't really notice a difference between the two, any higher than that is asking for trouble imo.
ok thanks for the answer, ive had no errors with the current settings, maybe ill keep it like this for the moment

[Q] Over clocking HTC Wildfire cm 7 - please help

Brother this is 3rd time i am replying you in this topic..
I have already suggest you too keep min 352 and Max 710 in setcpu which is very much stable for me...
If your phone is not supporting the overclocking more than 691 than you can flash a new kernel (may help).
You can use InfinityPlay from here
Make sure to take a nandroid...
and one thing whatever you do it will be sole responsibility of yours so read before doing anything..
I think the above explanations will help you...
Press Thanks if I helped you...

I have given you a link for InfinityPlay Kernel...to flash HCDR kernel You have to flash it via recovery 2.5.X.X
I suggest you to buy another phone. Stop waiting for magic from buzz lol.

I use scaling on demand 480-710 and it works fine : )
i run games fine on 652MHz, any higher and my launcher becomes jumpy and the system is just loose and unstable. Plus I see massive decrements in battery life at higher clock speeds.
Really u dont want to clock ur buzz higher than 700MHz - the battery and CPU will get too hot as there arent any cooling capabilities in a phone. If u want to game seriously buy a phone with a better processor if u want higher speeds than that.

[Q] How To Fix Game Lag

Hey, i have this problem from the begining...
So i have android version 4.2.2.
I'm running phone on franco Kernel 3.0.85 with Paranoidandroid Rom 3.56, Also i use app to OC my phone to 1,6ghz.
So everything is okay expect gaming , example when i play temple run 2 and i set on the best quality it will not run smooth you can see lags ingame and i think this phone should run it easily.
I was reading forum but i didn't found any solution for my problem, i tried to find busfreq_static with following informations :
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/busfreq_static
but there's no busfreq_static file when i enter to cpufreq directory , i use File Explorer just to check am i able to find busfreq_static file but i can't.
Any solution , any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Maybe buy a N4 or HTC One!!!

I already know you OC, but you overclock controlling voltages yourself, or rather you rely on SR to do it for you?

first, dont OC to 1.6!! the following may help you:
go to Settings and click on Developer Options and enable Force 4x MSAA. Multisample anti-aliasing (MSAA) is a technique used to improve image quality. Since the Gnex has a GPU capable of supporting MSAA. Keep in mind this will also cause your GPU to work harder and your device may get hotter and consume more power than normal. It’s also possible that all games may not support this.

I'ts not problem about OC , even if i set to 1,2ghz there are no changes , i just dont know what could be the problem , cuz the game runs smooth on other phone which is not good as this one , thats weird , im not controlling voltages , i didn't touch anything.

No , it didnt help. I already tried it before , but when i Force 4x MSAA it just makes game more lagy , maybe cuz of game , anyway i gave an example Temple Run 2 , but even other 3D games are laging , why shouldnt I OC to 1.6 , could brick phone or ?
It can blow up your cat. If it's the same with 1.2GHz... Why are you OC'ing? Go do some reading on voltage control and smartreflex on 4460.
Something tells me you're forgetting basics on how to OC on this device. If you don't supply enough voltage for all the cpu steps, device will stutter and lag, might even reboot.

Well i guess i need to put higher voltage when i am OC-ing , and how much voltage should i use for 1,2ghz , default ? Or incrase to higher voltage value ? Tell me something more about it , cuz im not well informed

first thing you need to do is disable SmartReflex® across the board, so that your user-defined voltages stick.
messing with voltages is very device-specific. increment voltage by small ammounts, stress-test and use the device for a while to make sure it's stable.
have you tried running those games while running Google's stock kernel?

I guess that stock kernel is : JOP40C kernel ? Am i right , i didnt try that kernel , you suggest me to flash this JOP40C kernel and to try if something will be fixed ?

Do you even know anything about ROMs and kernels?
When I said have you tested this on stock kernel, I meant, did you try this on stock ROM, but specified kernel because, it's like, common knowledge for someone who flashes ROMs, that custom ROMs devs often alter kernel (and ramdisk) to support features on their custom roms..
Have you for example tried reflashing PA, and just PA, nothing else? Does it lag then?
Have you for example tried fully reverting back to stock? (factory images)
Why is it that you just want your games not to lag, not even trying to gain a deeper understanding about what people are telling you.
Listen, this is the last time I'm saying this:
I told you to check your voltages, since you're OC'ing, and expecting SR to do the job for you.
Test by reflashing again PA, with no custom kernel.
Test by going back to stock, through fastboot/factory images.
Temple Run 2 on best quality lags in mine too.Probably it was designed for 1080p.Just keep the graphics a little lower, doesn't affect gameplay or quality
