Worth the wait? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So my phones been broken since August, and I have no backups. In other words, I haven't had a phone since mid-August. Anyway, I just got some money for my birthday and job. Should I wait until the Galaxy Nexus comes out for tmo in late November? If not, suggest getting any other phone?
EDIT:hmm alright. I need a phone.. Im trying not to spend the most amount of money because im going to buy the Nexus during christmas time, but can anyone steer me in the right direction in buying a used phone off craigslist? Preferably a decent one? Price Range $100-$275. I have T-mobile but any phone thats compatible whether its unlocked or not I'll be willing to get. I'm in jersey BTW, in case any of you want to give it a look.

if you read this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316800
you'll know you're in for a very long wait
but it might be worth it, depending how fan are you of stock AOS

If you have enough money to buy one unlocked for the full price, then you should hopefully have it by this month end.
If you are looking for tmo subsidized, then there is a possibility that you might have wait longer.

yea, I read through a bunch of pages in that thread. If I have to wait a week or two, I'll be fine with that... And I'm just going to root it assuming it will be possible as other Nexus phones were easily rooted..
Just not so sure if its hitting tmobile.. I dont come on here as much as I used to, but if you find ANY news having to do with tmo and the galaxy nexus or the release date, mind Pming me? thanks

yea, I think ill just be buying it full price unfortunately.

Only you can decide for yourself which phone is best and what is "worth" the wait for you.
Just do the research and decide what's good for you.

I will personally wait till prices drop at Christmas. My captivate is going super strong after installing miui. I got money, lots of it... So gonna buy unlocked! No seriously, it's because I am going out of the country mid next year for a while... Some legal issues...

Aria is old and doesn't have AWS for 3G on T-mo. G2 is good. You could always get a MyTouch 4G (not slide) or an original Galaxy S very cheaply.
Whats it matter if you're only going to use it for 1-2 months then get rid of it anyways? Get something that works and is cheap.

I'm not sure about your area, but I could find Nexus S for around $200

I can relate to you. I lost my phone (Nexus One) 2 months ago. Since then I have been using my 5 year old Samsung. It works great as a phone for calls and text msgs. That's it!!! I feel so disconnected from the world without my neXus 1. Considering GS was going to come out soon, I did not want to waste any money on an temp android phone.
If I were in your place without a phone I would get the cheapest one possible.

This is already being discussed in the other threads. That page shows the MARKETING push for after Black Friday, which is including the Galaxy Nexus.
That does not at all indicate when the phone will be sold. As you notice, the map shows the iPhone being marketed too, that doesn't mean the iPhone isn't on sale till then

DINC2 29.99 upgrade at Costco

Funny the OG Inc would have cost me $50. Maybe cause it has Netflix support
I can't post links yet, but if you go to Target . c o m and go to their cell phones you will see it after they do a check with Verizon.

i can't post the link cause im a newb to the forum, but just search google or slickdeals for the costco july coupon book, it says 70 bucks off, although i dont know how this correlates to the phone. i think when you go into the store, its just the 29.99, its like the coupon is already applied. i would suggest calling ahead to make sure they have some. costco is nice because they give you a free car charger and case with purchase. never knew to look at target, seems like a good deal too, looks like they give a 50 dollar gift card?

Did go to the site, upgrades to an existing non-primary line was $80.
Costco, however, has the $30 upgrade across the board...
Anyone upgrade using costco online and keep their unlimited data? I want to jump all over the DInc2 but I'm worried about losing unlimited data.

Issues with this phone?

I want to buy a new phone. I have had my evo 4g since it came out. My friend has a s2 and I love it but what are the common issues with the sprint variant and are they worth looking over? I am currently running cm7 so not having sense won't be an issue
I came from an EVO as well and absolutely love the sgII E4GT (maybe not the 8 character abbreviation) but the phone rocks. It is just like every other brand of phone out there. The majority play nice and then you have the ones that want to be stroked and then you have the bad boys. And last but not least the occasional bone head behind the keyboard.
But my over all experience has been great. Your mileage may vary.......
Thanks so lemme ask you this, is it worth purchasing without a contract? I've seen a couple on Craig's list go for $300

[Opinions] What should I do with my “SPARE” Galaxy Nexus?

Last week, my SGN tried to commit suicide by jumping face first from a ~4 foot shelf onto the hard concrete floor in my garage. Fortunately the phone survived and was otherwise 100% functional, but the glass was completely shattered.
I was able to use an upgrade I had for another line to purchase a second Nexus at a heavily discounted corporate price.
Later that I day, I discovered this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474979
…where I learned that I was able to ship the Nexus to Samsung directly for glass repair.
So in the next week or two, I be receiving my original Galaxy Nexus back to me in perfect re-furbished condition. So what should I do with it:
Sell it?
What is the market for these phones out of contract? Would somebody be willing to pay ~$400 for a complete SGN with LTE sim card?
Give it to the wife?
Nah, she barely uses the DroidX I gave her back in December.
Convert to a desktop Android?
Buy an MHL cable, BlueTooth keyboard / mouse and a new monitor; and then use for general surfing and billpaying?
Keep it as a backup for the next time the phone is dropped and the glass shatters?
I’m leaning towards selling it myself, but I’m not convinced somebody is willing to spend this much for a phone from an otherwise unknown seller.
Thoughts?

Should I sell my Galaxy SII?

Hi guys! I have a moral dilemma (hows that for dramatic?) So, I recently got the Galaxy nexus, but ive been in the tmo galaxy s 2 for the last 6 months, and while I'm really fond of it, I think the nexus is a better experience. Although I think the galaxy s 2 has a much much better camera sensor. And a superior GPU. But the screen and overall fluidity is greater in the nexus.
So I'm in two minds... do I keep the galaxy s 2 as a spare or a reserve camera/media player? Or do I sell it? I can get about $400 for it, it's in perfect condition.
What do you guys think? What should I do? Sell, keep or wait?

Indeed. You can get a really good DSLR with the $400 you get which will surpass the GSIIs camera by a longshot.
I'd definitely sell it if your going with the Galaxy Nexus. The price is just going to drop once newer phones are released.

keeping a gs2 as a reserve camera/media player is silly (no offense).
Sell it now while the value is still high. have $400 now, and if you need to replace or have a device for camera/media player, there are plenty of other options that costs less with better functionality in those departments. I highly believe by the end of this month. the price for the gs2 will drop below $350. especially with rumors of the gs3 and the one s being released.
TL;DR: SELL SELL SELL
Thanks for the input guys! Guess I know what to do now. It's going to be hard letting go, I'm not gonna lie.
Honestly, it depends on what you would like to do with those phones. If you plan on rooting and flashing roms(basically experimenting) with the phones, I would say keep it as a backup just in case something goes bad with the other phone. On the other hand, if you just want to use your phone as a basic use without modifying, I wouldn't really see a reason for you to keep the S2.Remember however, the S2 is a pretty great phone and has more performance power than the Nexus so you would be selling such a great phone. Either way, its your choice. Also if you want to buy a new phone, sell the S2 so that you can use that money you sold it for.

So therein lies my problem, maybe I should wait till an official ICS update to this phone, so that I can see what this baby can do. Cause so far, the skyrocket ports have left me a little cold. On the other hand, if I sell it now, and put the money towards a Galaxy S III... as compared to waiting for ICS and selling it later for a little less and putting the money towards a Galaxy S III?
Damn. Confused again.
sell it, don't look back. waiting for ics roms when you have an ics phone already (not to mention a bigger dev community)? malarky.
I wouldn't hold my breath on a US release of the SGS3 but an extra $400 can be applied to anything else to make living a little easier for a while.
and in regards to the idea of keeping it incase you brick your main phone, thats typically the kind of attitude that keeps people hoarding handsets way past their decent resale value period that they don't end up using. unless you're a wild dev living on the bleeding edge, the chance of bricking is relatively low.
And if you really want a backup phone, get an HD2 for like 100-150, i'm convinced those things will survive the apocalypse and have the most current version of android.
I got $440 on ebay for a refurb GSII (and ebay pimped me $40) but like previously posted, ditch it and make back some $$$ before the value goes down. Right now it is T-Mo's flagship...

You're sick of waiting. Your Vision is starting to suck. Get the best phone right now, rather than waiting. Waiting is generally silly when it comes to tech. Sorry to not be talking you out of the S3, but it's going to blow your G2/Vision away, even without the QWERTY..
I'm thinking of doing the same, because it seems that we won't get a decent, customizable phone with a hardware keyboard in the foreseeable future..
For what it's worth, if Google goes with Samsung the next Nexus will prob be a slightly tweaked GSIII.
Don't keep looking toward the horizon, find a phone you like now (or the near future) and get it. Something better is ALWAYS coming.
I agree with Nospin pretty much. Keep your G2 for now. There aren't many phones right now that are very much comparable IMO. I've got ICS running on mine and its lightening fast. Every time I go to check out the new phones I can't help but think mine is slightly better of just as good. So why spend the money on something new when you don't need it? Just keep flashing away until you find something that fits you, but again IMO, be like me and go with Adromadus Audacity...its a great ROM.

well I was talking about the looking toward the horizon part. Better to just stick with the G2 for now as there are all of these "better phones" out now. Wait it out until something REALLY good catches your eye, for now the G2 does what all of the new phones do if not more.
